A group of co-workers met with some out of town business associates for lunch on 3/16/17. Having eaten here before, several of us had highly recommended Surf Rider. While we were deciding on entrees, we decided to order THREE appetizers to share; sweet & spicy shrimp, calamari, and steak bites. The steak bites were due to the fact that one in our party didnt eat seafood. After taking our lunch order, the server brought out the shrimp (probably 10-12). We all assumed the other appetizers were still being prepared and would be out momentarily. The server came back and ask if we needed any drink refills. Myself, and the guy next to me both asked for more iced-tea. She acknowledged both of us and brought him a glass of tea. We didnt see the server for quite a while. I think she was in the back. 45 to 50 minutes after we ordered, she brought the stands out to set the trays on that contained our entrees. We tried to get her attention, but she was in a hurry to get back to get our entrees. When she brought the entrees out, I asked about the other two appetizers. She adamantly told me that we only ordered one. (Think about that for a second ... 9 men order one appetizer to share.) 4 of us spoke up and said, "NO, we ordered THREE!" We then told her what we ordered. Her response was, "Oh! I thought you were just listing them." She did apologize for the error, though. The entrees were terrific as always. I can overlook the lapse in service, although I think she should have erred on the side of customer service and said something to the effect of "Oh, I didnt catch that, etc." instead of disputing the customer when they enquire about other items they ordered. That was probably my biggest issue, but I do realize everyone has an "off" day. Also,given the fact that most business lunches usually last about an hour, Im not sure I would take a party of 8 or 9 here again for lunch during the work day.

Nice look inside. Food not as good seafood didnt have much flavor. I would have given it a 4 until I told the waitress I ordered a cheese quesadilla for one 1 year old daughter for $4 NOT a chicken quesadilla that was $8. The waitress pulled her note pad out and said well I wrote chicken and looked at me like I was wrong. She just continued to look at me until I said forget it. She made no attempted to correct her mistake and still charged me for the chicken quesadilla that didnt not get eaten. So her tip will pay for the chicken quesadilla and we will not be going back. Never in my life have I left a $2 tip until today......

Good food! I have been to many seafood restaurants in the area and this place just needs to tweak in the flavor a bit. I ordered the crab cakes, it was cooked and served very well, but it was a bit lacking flavor....kind of blah. Now their sister restaurant that shares the same owner and a wall right next to them, Lizs Kitchen; that culinary staff is amazing, same staff? I dont know ,but they can help next door tweak a bit.....maybe it was just a bad day! I will repeat the place again, the service was outstanding!

The service was very good. The she crab soup was good as always. The shrimp and crab cake was also good. The flounder though was not so good. My flounder was broiled and had too much Old Bay for my taste. The Old Bay though did give it the only flavor it had. My husband ordered the blackened flounder. His had less seasoning than mine and was bland as well. If it was truly blackened, I couldnt tell. I would return but will not order flounder again. I will stick with the soup and crab pot makings.

Had the shrimp here yesterday. They were great, but not $14.99 for 6 shrimp great. I will say the shrimp were fairly large, so that is a plus. The side of broccoli is literally an entire uncut head of broccoli without the stem. Choose your side wisely. We spent a good amount of time poking fun at it.

Excellent dining experience, service was excellent, food was delicious, best crab cakes in Hampton Roads, the restaurant is very clean and has a nice atmosphere, definitely recommend to Family & Friends, close to home so will be eating here alot!!!!

Well worth driving away from the beach side stretch. Waitstaff is kind and helpful. I ordered the scallop Alfredo and it was wonderful. I heavily suggest getting an Alfredo dish. Great service and great food.
