My husband and I came in for Sunday brunch and I dont think they were expecting the crowd they had. With almost a 40 min wait, tables were free the entire time we were there. That should have told us they were short staffed right away. The staff was friendly, but missing for most of the meal. Our sever took fifteen minutes to come over and take our order. We didnt see her again until my husband flagged her down to get the check. A food runner brought our meals. We never got refills on the coffee, which was okay since coffee wasnt very good and the sugar dish on our table was empty. The food was mediocre. Its not a lot of food, dont expect to take anything home. My husband quickly finished the power breakfast and said it was "okay." I had the eggs benedict and the ham was just a thin slice of deli meat which was a bit disappointing. The sauce was also missing some flavor. Both my parents are chefs so I grew up eating eggs bendict with home made hollandaise sauce. Something was missing or they were using sub-par ingredients. I "eat like a bird" so usually I can only eat half of an order but I was able to finish the whole thing (with most of it just being the bread). The eggs were just slightly overcooked, Ive had much worse. The hash browns were good. Overall the coffee is terrible, but the cocktails (which we didnt get this time) looked good. The food was not good but not bad either. The servers were nice, but the service was lacking. With so many other good restaurants in Richmond we wont be going back. But, if a friend wanted to go, I would give it another try.

I was so so so looking forward to trying this place but unfortunatly I was never given the chance. I am from Charlotte NC and while visiting family in the area we decided to go here for sunday brunch. We were quickly seated which was nice but after sitting at the table for 30 minutes without a single person acknowleding our exsitance we began to wonder why people talk so highly of this place. Finally a server showed up. She was nice enough but after placing our drink orders and waiting another 20 minutes for her to bring them to the table I was pretty much completely fed up. Almost an hour of sitting and we had only seen our server ONCE. A table was then sat next to us and the same server promptly went over and took their drink orders and after only a few moments they had food on their table. I was livid. Our first drinks were now empty... no one came by to refill them. We had been waiting to order food for an hour and were completely famished. Our server basically decided to never come back. We asked the hostess, who seemed completely unconcerned that we were leaving if she could please find our waiter so we could pay for our drinks. It took another 15 minutes. This was the worst restaurant service I have ever experienced. My family and I will not be recomending this place to anyone nor will we likely ever return. There are so many great places to eat in the area. I would suggest skipping this place and finding one that actually cares about their customers/business.

I dont usually post reviews but I went to The Daily recently to give them a second chance since I did not have a good experience the first time I went. I really want to like this place because the atmosphere is very nice, but the cleanliness is a concern. I first came to The daily about a year ago and the server was nice but when I received my plate there was crusted dry mashed potatoes on the bottom of the plate, and it was a lot of potatoes smeared across the plate. The waiter kindly replaced it with a new one but it gave me concern, especially if that was approved to be on the table for guests. Secondly, there were multiple dead flies near the window which was not pleasant and told me that the restaurant rarely cleans.. That was my first experience with The Daily and I was not pleased.. But recently I wanted to give The Daily another try so I came in with an open mind. I ordered the Margarita pizza and the cheese did not look like mozzarella, it looked like greasy grated cheap cheese. I proceeded to eat it and after a few minutes I got a terrible stomach ache and so did my friend (who also ate pizza). My friend also found a fly in the drink and one of the waitresses came over and stated "oh not again!" Which concerned me and made me think it was a common occurrence. Lets just say that I will unfortunately not be visiting The Daily again.

Our first experience at the Daily Kitchen was great: delicious food, yummy drinks, and good service. Last night (Sunday), however, was generally an unpleasant experience for my mother and me. To begin with, our appetizer, the spinach artichoke dip, came with toast instead of the flatbread we had received on our previous visit, which was disappointing and did not pair well with the dip. Our wine glass pours were only around 4 oz and clearly not worth the $10 per glass price tag. When our entrees came, my miso glazed tofu didnt bear even a hint of miso; it was quite flavorless, and the noodles similarly seemed to lack any discernible taste. Finally, we decided to try the dark chocolate almond brownie as a last-ditch effort to salvage what was supposed to be an enjoyable dining experience. The brownie was burned on all four corners, and the ice cream tasted as if all sugar had been left out at some point. We were only able to eat a bite each and then unfortunately had to send our dessert back. To top it all off, we spent the entire evening shooing flies away from our food/faces. We will not be returning to the Daily Kitchen.

But not 4 hours after I read about this in RVA, I ended up meeting some friends there for dinner. Being the late one, and trying to play catch up with my ordering, I just whatever food was already on the table. On one side of the table were vegetarian options; on the other, a huge burger. Now, I have been trying to eat healthier these past few months since moving to RVA, but with good company a cool summer night. Sure, lets do this. The waiter found me. I pointed to the burger. He asked me what I wanted to drink, and before I could ask him my classic recommendation question, he threw one out. Perceptive man. Before I could settle into my chair, preparing myself for the meal and planning out how I was going to gym it off, it was sitting in front of me. Was this the greatest burger Ive ever had? Not by a long shot. But the price point was on point. The service was choice. The weather -- relaxing. Carytowns definitely a much more happening place then when I first visited years and years ago, and this restaurant along with all the others are definitely ones to frequent.

The ambiance is a bit pretentious to me and they sometimes leave their giant windows open while running the AC which seems to counter their local sustainability claims but otherwise the food Ive had here is great. I love that they source from local farms and list it all out for diners. My mom and I had the fried oysters and they were so delish. Her salmon was perfectly cooked but needed salt. I loved the quinoa pancake and jicama it came with. My fish tacos were great but the pico de gallo seemed not as fresh as it should be so I removed it. The salsa was fantastic. Beans and rice needed salt too though it couldve been that I ordered them without the cheese that normally comes with it and would add salt. The passion fruit limeade was so refreshing. We did have trouble hearing each other over the ambient noise. My friend took me here for my birthday for dessert- they were rich and lovely. I had the turkey burger on a gluten free bun another time and it was dry.
