I have been going to this place for carryout and delivery for almost 2 years since Ive moved to the area. It is consistently good, with fair prices, and delicious recipes. I like their dinner combos the most, with the egg roll and soup. Anyone who posts on here that the place is not good obviously hasnt been to that many places around Richmond. I used to live near VCU and this place is better than all the Chinese delivery places around there. This place cooks solid Chinese food and serves it very hot, fresh, and within 10-15 minutes usually. The interior is not really an ideal sit down place but works if you are looking for a quick low key meal. I prefer to carryout or get a delivery but have eaten in before and the service is decent. Last but not least, this place serves authentic lo mein as opposed to the fake lo mein (aka spaghetti noodles) that a lot of Chinese places in the Richmond area serve.

No offense to the owners or cooks, but I got the pepper steak and it was pretty terrible. The price was good because of the lunch special, but that was where the good ended. I work in the food industry so Im pretty critical in my rating. The rice was terrible and tasted really old and microwaved and so did the sauce they used. The "steak" or what ever it may or may not have been was okay; but I didnt taste any pepper in the pepper steak. It seems that they copd out of the original recipe and just doused it in some salty sauce-- it was far too wet. Maybe this was a variation in the recipe but it wasnt a good one in my opinion. I wont be going back. Again, no offense; I just strongly believe in constructive criticism. Good luck improving and in the future.

I ordered here regularly online for delivery. I loved the quick service and tasty food. However, the last 4 or 5 times, the delivery took over an hour and I live about 5 minutes away. I called to check on my orders status and I could tell they were not monitoring their online orders. There were no accommodations provided for my inconvenience. The last time I ordered, after calling to check on the status I decided to cancel my order. The delivery driver came anyway and wouldnt stop banging on my front door. She was rude and disrespectful. I had to tell her that if she didnt leave my home, I would be calling the cops.

I went into the restaurant for the first time. The service was friendly and very accommodating. But, the food was so bland it had no flavor what so ever to it. My wife who is Asian agreed with me that the dishes we ordered were missing something. This is the first and last time I will eat at this restaurant. I recommend eating at Little Szechuan up the street at Cross Ridge. The food prices are about the same and they have much better taste and dinning atmosphere.

I went here for the first time and while I was impressed by how fast the food came out and how good the service was, the food was just awful. My rice, which I ordered steamed and came fried, was dry and cold. My General Tsos chicken was dry, with not enough sauce, and chewy. And finally, my egg roll was undercooked. At least the egg drop soup was decent. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone wanting something resembling quality.

I first visited them because the location is near my home. The staff is very friendly. I ordered shrimp egg foo young. It was so delicious and fresh. I lived in Japan for over 5 years. Theres a difference between Chinese and Japanese food. But I prefer Chinese. Although I like Chinese food as with any food, some dishes are better than others. I also recommend their Shrimp Chow Mien. I get take out at least twice a month. Try them out!!

My BF walked into this restaurant at 6:55pm on 7-12-15 to order us some food. The person at the counter yelled at him "what are you here for!?". He was not used to such poor customer service in a chinese restaurant and feels discriminated upon. They have good food but we are not taking any verbal abuse and discrimination. They should be ashamed of themselves. We ordered from Chens in Short Pump. They have way better food.

Lunch buffet offers fresh cuisine at a friendly budget. For the same price as Panda Express across the street I can eat numerous dishes and sides to my hearts content. The only caveat is that if you get there towards the end of the lunch buffet, the selection may be disappointing. Which makes sense, dont want to waste a bunch of food.

Come on they dont steal produce from Food Lion, thats crazy. This is a good place, period. I order here about once a month and have always been satisfied. Good ol american style Chinese food. The quality is much much better than most fast food Chinese places. It is what it is, simple and good.

Ive been eating here (or getting it delivered) for 3+ years and havent had a bad dish yet. Its the best Chinese in the west end and the delivery is FAST. My favorites are the jumbo shrimp and the sesame chicken, but all of the food is on point. You cant go wrong.

The staff at Hunan Cafe are consistently pleasant and happy to serve. Their food is always delicious and quickly presented. Coupled with free delivery and reasonable prices this is easily the best Chinese food in the area.

I tried their Singapore noodles and scallops. Very delicious, much better than other Chinese restaurants. The staff was friendly and interior looked kept up. Being able to order online is a definite plus.

Hunan Cafe is truly one of Richmonds great hidden secrets. Is a small little place with really good Chinese food. I would recommend their crispy beef, Mongolian beef, and their Hot and Sour soup.
