We visited MooThru yesterday on our way back from Lake Anna. We have two toddlers and they were thrilled to try both the scoop and soft serve ice cream. Both were amazing, as were the strawberry shake and sundae we ordered. The milk we picked up was delicious. If we lived closer we would come by weekly for the milk. Wow! The best part of the visit was our encounter with the owner, Kevin Smith. As we pulled into the lot Kevin was walking to his car and noticed we were having an issue with a boat trailer. He casually walked up to us and pointed out what he saw. And then offered to help. He ran back to his farm and returned 15 minutes later with a lift and grease gun. He propped up our heavy boat and trailer, greased the wheel and graciously sent us on our way. How about that for service?! MooThru serves up delicious ice cream and wholesome gracious service that is incredibly hard to find these days. We made it home thanks to Ken! Well see you guys again soon!

I plan my trips from DC to Charlottesville around moo thru. My parents wont let me in the door unless I have at least a pint of cookie dough and a pint of Moundz. You can literally smell the cows from which the heavenly cream descends. They may feed the cows beer and give them daily massages given how delectable the ice cream comes out. If I could only eat one ice cream the rest of my life this would be it. Anyone who tells you this ice cream is anything but finger-licking good is probably a mouth breather. And yes, sometimes a spoon distracts from the experience and direct finger to ice cream contact is required. If the ice cream gave me crippling diarrhea every time I ate it I wouldnt flinch before digging my face into a quart of the key lime pie flavor. So just eat some, unless Im there, then get out of my way.

The quality and quantity are really outstanding and thats what sets itself apart from all the other ice cream shops. BUT, my family and I are regular customers and have noticed the staff has gotten very sloppy. We have ordered things with no whip and gotten it, vanilla ice cream and gotten strawberry, and a brownie sundae with no brownie in it so my advice would be to check your order before you leave. Also, theres a horrible sewage smell coming from their bathrooms that happen to be right next to the pick up window. We have also seen employees throwing out bags and bags of trash by the pick up window which just adds to the awful smell when theres still a half hour before closing. This place is great, but really needs to pay attention to detail before they lose business!

Today was our first time visiting Moo Thru. We both had the chocolate ice cream in waffle cones. I thought it was--hard to believe--even better than Hersheys chocolate ice cream, which has always been my favorite. It was definitely sweeter and creamier...delicious. When the clerk handed me my cone, the waffle cone was actually hot on the bottom. The clerk said it was because it had just been made. It doesnt get any fresher than this. We are BIG fans and will be returning to try other flavors. I admire that its all made in house from their own dairy. Yum. Long live Moo Thru!

The ice cream is very good! The line is always long, and lately the service is quite slow. Everyone seems to be working hard but perhaps they are understaffed? It is just frustrating to see your order ready and sitting there at the window for 5-10 minutes while the person behind the window is filling other orders. But ultimately worth it as the ice cream is truly amazing - and I say this as a person who generally does not like ice cream.

Very good ice cream made from their own cows milk. Be sure to ask about their special flavors that arent always posted with their standard fare. A large selection of flavors. They use actual bananas and nilla wafers in their banana pudding flavor, coconut and marshmallows in the toasted marshmallow coconut flavor, etc. You get the idea. Dont pass this one up if you love ice cream.

Our first visit, right after opening time on 4th of July. No soft serve ice cream available at opening. Was told it would be ready in 5 minutes so went ahead and ordered it anyway. 5 min turned into 20 min. At that point, they should have either offered a refund or provided another product as a gesture of goodwill. "We are sorry you had to wait" just isnt appropriate.

Would have been a higher rating if not for the brusque and rude person taking orders. She seemed incredibly put out that I wasnt clear on what "Holstein" flavor might be... High quality ice cream, good flavor and decent price. Waffle cones taste like theyve been freshly made. Would be cool to have a few more, less basic options, but what they do, they do quite well.

(Im a foodie) I love this place! If youve driven by this place and not tried it, youre missing out on some of the best ice cream within 70 miles of DC! The only complaint is some of the staff. The older staff members are pretty polite and very cordial, SOME of the younger folks doesnt seem to take pride in the establishment and clean the bathroom well.

A little spendy and often a big line, but worth the price and wait. Besides ice cream, t nohey also have half gallon milk in glass jugs which is also incredible. Make sure you shake the whole milk before trying to pour it. I did not realize it wasnt homoginized, so there was a big bunch of cream blocking the mouth when I first opened it.

This is actually the place to drive out of your way to find amazing ice cream....or maybe plan a trip to .... or wait, why not plan a weekend trip around stopping here twice! The fresh made waffle cones could even be considered a delicacy on its own. Whatever flavor you prefer, its going to be incredible, like nothing youve tried before.

Excellent locally made ice cream. They have a number of flavors, at least 2 sugar-free and 2 sorbets (raspberry sorbet is like eating frozen fresh raspberries). Daughter ordered a small sundae yesterday and it was big enough for 2 people! Moo Thru is one of the best ice cream places in the state and they are open year round!

Beautiful setting, family accommodations plus clean restrooms. But what about the ice cream. Tried apple pie, cinannum and orange ice cream. Good ice cream, very rich, flavorful, but no fruit or nut ice creams. Ordered a 3 scoop cup: orange, cinannum and BlackBerry ice creams. The were delicious! Loved the "milk" sign.

This is very good ice cream. Nice selection. Not so many flavors that you cant decide what you want, but enough that you can find something youre excited about. Very creamy and smooth. I go there every time I can, which is sadly only about 3 times a year. I cant think of any place that has better ice cream. I

Quite possibly my all time favorite ice cream place! Fresh, creamy, quality ice cream. The drive thru is super convenient for just passing through, but the covered picnic tables are also nice. The sundaes are wonderful. My favorite combination is the dark chocolate (super dark and rich) and cinnamon. Yum!!
