This was our third time to Uptown Buffet. The first time we came back in the fall, we were very pleased with the selection/variety and the majority of what we tried we liked very much. We were so impressed that we told several people about it. The second time we came, we brought our 12yo and were kind of disappointed that it wasn't as good as the first time, but thought it might just be an 'off' night. We came back tonight for the third time and will not be coming back again. We actually left without finishing dinner. We both would take a bite of something on our plate, not like it, and move on to the next thing on our plate. This happened for everything we got! I actually spit food into my napkin twice because I disliked it that much. Neither of us went back for a second plate. I RARELY speak up or complain at restaurants. I dont think I've ever sent anything back unless it was the wrong thing altogether. When I mentioned something to the girl at the register, she turned to the gentleman beside her, who apparently was a manager, for him to address our concerns. He was really ugly with us like we were trying to get free food. What was apparent from our plates, was that we didn't hardly eat anything. Everything had a bite taken out if it. But he was just UGLY. I literally ended up telling the man, quite incredulously: "Im sorry I upset YOU." After he left, both our waitress and the girl at the register apoligized and told us we should come again, but be sure to come earlier when the food is fresher because it is not very good this late (7:30pm on a Sunday). The girl at the register even said "the food is not good tonight). WOW!! That's bad. Very disappointed.

It was terrible to the point that the food is like what you feed to dog/cat of other animal just not what you want to eat/ or what you will feed to humans. It is a waste of humanity by letting them settle there. every thing they have are very sticky and terrible and the room is freezing and there are tons of fly in there which just makes me want to throw up. Every thing they have are cold like ice which is just terrible nothing else to say but terrible! It is terrible they a extremely rude and they even want me to pay extra for not eating the disgusting food that they served and none of the food are fresh and I came that morning so you will think that they will have fresh food in the morning by that is not the case. I EISH THAT I COULD GIVE THEM A ZERO FOR THERE STAR BECAUSE IT JUST TASTE LIKE S*** IT IS ONLY GOOD FOR YOU PET JUST TERRBLE I WISH I DID NOT EVEN WENT IN THERE AND I WENT THERE FORM NC JUST TO EAT THAT PIECE OF S*** JUST BECASUE OTHER PEOPLE SAY THAT IT IS GOOD JUST PISS ME OFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The food was plentu, fresh and varied. I arrived at 8:30 Sat. night. I must eat gluten free and they had a wide variety of non-wheat products to satisfy my choices. Great fresh fruit choices. Service was good. Only problem was that I believe they cook wit MSG!!! I woke up next morning in severe pain and have remained so all day no mater what I have.taken for pain management. That is one reason I believe its MSG. Nothing would blunt the inflamatory pain. So if your Monosodiumgluemate sensetive you better not risk eating here as Im sure it would be inost everything they serve on the buffet. BTW- DINNER for 1 was $15.?? I didnt notice the buffet price posted anywhere so I was surprised. There is a better buffet over by Ollies just at the back of COSTCO, cheaper and no.MSG :D

No labels on food. Hibachi looks horrorable and wouldnt risk eating it. Sushi was okay but rice was a little hard from where itd been out a while. There was some chicken on buffet and couldnt tell if it was honey chicken, generals chicken or pepper chicken. Ate there with the family then next day my daughter got sick, not sure if from the food or the coughing waitress. Now I have it and Im pretty sure that the rest of my family will end up with it. If your hungry just dont go in, not worth the chance of getting sick.

This was my favorite restaurant, we would go here at least once a week for their wonderful food and sushi, they are super nice. Then they renovated...got all new food recipes, and I am super sad, not the same place anymore. The first time we went after the "upgrade" was the first time I ever saw my boyfriend not finish his food, and I couldnt eat mine either, instead of the normal crab in my sushi, it was full of pineapple...will miss the old place very very very bad :( Any suggestions for where to get sushi now?

Ate there in Sept 2014. Just spent five years in Japan, so the sushi was not up to what I would have expected but maybe the exceptions were too high. Saw that they were open until 10 PM, showed up at 8:15 and they were already clearing plates or not restocking food (and some items looked like they had been out there for a while). Staff was not overly rude, but not very nice or helpful either. Lady at counter when we first got there was rude. Would not go back nor would I recommend.

Im giving this place 3 stars overall, but an extra star based on the number of items put out there by the kitchen. The sushi, the meats, the fruits, and the normal stand-by items were all good to above average. I had the treat of having both papaya, and another exotic fruit at the same sitting on a previous visit this week. 4 different kinds of fish, along with shellfish made it feel more like "dinner" at a lunch price. My bill was $9.99 out the door with a $1 tip included!

Walking in you can tell its not going to be good. The atmosphere is bad. Anything that is labeled on the buffet is with a label maker. The Hibachi sign is made of sharpie. The guy making then sushi was wearing jeans and a Hawaiian button-up and theres a huge sign about the risk of food borne illness. The size of that sign is a testiment to how confident they are about their food. The American food was literally tasteless, and the chinese food was way below average.

All the food I put on my plate was really tasty. The server made sure to check on our drinks and take our old plates everytime we got another one. The only downside is the wave of fish odour when you enter. But we got over it quickly when we tasted our food. We had a great meal. My husband pointed out that the walls didnt seem too clean, but it didnt bother me too much. They had lindsey stirling and the piano guys playing throughout the dining space. Was very relaxing!

HORRIBLE! Expensive they charged for my two year old to eat....he hardly eats a half a plate....what buffet charges for a 2 year old. They usually start to charge 3 and up.... Besides that the food was dry and looked like it was sitting there for the whole day. The best thing there was the sprite i had....i will never recommend this place or go back there....if u want a good buffet go to the one in the southern shopping center in Norfolk.
