My husband & I love this place. Whenever were tired of cooking or in the mood to bring Chinese home versus going out, this is our favorite place. & Some of their entrees rival our favorite Chinese dining out restaurant - Chengs [Sterling]- a top-rated restaurant with a long award-winning history. I particularly enjoy the Da Lu Mein soup - a thick beef broth jam-packed with pieces of beef, big tasty shrimp, tofu, beef tendons, and vegetables. Whenever I feel under the weather, this soup is the only thing that suits me - or if Im cold - or if its raining... My favorite appetizer is the Crab Ragoon - puffy pastry filled with a flavorful crab & cream cheese filling; my husband always orders the little fried chicken wings & the Egg Drop Soup. Ive recently fallen for their Peking Duck - very tasty. The Moo Goo GaiPan has a wonderful fragrance, big pieces of chicken & crisp vegetables & is better than Chengs(!). I always get a bowl of Green Bean Schezuan style - its got very fresh tasting beans, a little kick & as left-overs heats up great! Ive been disappointed with the Egg Rolls, Spring Rolls - the fillings have no flavor -& Shrimp Toast - too little flavor & too much grease. Because the shrimp in the DaLuMein soup is so yummy, Ive started trying their shrimp dishes - I enjoy the Shrimp in Lobster sauce & Asparagus Delight. A great favorite of ours with consistent flavors, big pieces of meat, fresh vegetables & high quality take out containers that make microwaving leftovers easy.

The food usually tastes good depending on what you order. I like their noodles and hunan chicken. But I dont trust them anymore based on my last experience. The cashier billed me more than my order by a few dollars. When I asked her to check the total she said that they add up correctly. I asked another lady at the counter to give me the itemized copy and it turns out the cashier was overcharging me. She actually had the correct amount written on her copy, but just decided to charge me the higher amount. Normally I would have dismissed this as a simple mistake, but the fact that she wrote down one number and charged my card a different amount and dismissed my first request to check the bill shows that this was intentional and may be recurring since this is a family owned restaurant. I really like their food, but unfortunately this experience makes me question the quality of their ingredients and meat also.

Very annoying that theres a $15 order minimum for delivery. Doesnt really allow you to take advantage of the lunch menu. Also I had to pay cash, which was very inconvenient because it wouldnt allow me to pay with my card. Luckily for me theres an ATM in my office building, but that also charged me $3 to take out cash. When the food arrived everything was very tasteless and dry. The broth of the wonton soup was the best thing I had, but the actual wontons were very bland. I also ordered the fried dumplings which were soggy and also tasteless. The general tsos was okay, but the pieces of meat were very small and very dry. I probably wont ever order from here again due to having to pay far too much for a tasteless meal. The mountain dew was good as expected though. Thanks for that at least.

The first time we tried this restaurant and we loved it! We ordered the chicken wings appetizer, the chicken fried rice, the twice cooked pork, and the orange beef. Everything was fresh, including the vegetables, was hot and delivered in less than 30 minutes by a courteous delivery driver. They use no MSG and low sodium and the portions were large enough for four people. Weve been looking for a great Chinese restaurant in Herndon for a while and Hunan Cafe did not disappoint.

Really good food tastes fresh and nice ambient the music little too loud for this kinda business (hip-hop) definitely is the only thing I would change for the rest very fast and affordable Les than 20 bucks for a meal for two and two drinks also definitely recommended and if the music is too loud youll experience the same as my wife and I experienced for the rest you definitely enjoy your meal

I like Hunan Cafe because they advertise no MSG, no sodium-salt, no canned vegetables in their products. Other than that they are like any other Chinese resturatnt in the area. Im a fan of their Kung Pao Chicken which I usually get as a lunch special that comes with an egg roll and rice.

We love this place! They deal very well with food allergies, they are fast and the food is good. Only complaint is that we cant order online with a credit card anymore...

The staff is really friendly and the portions are massive. I wish it was a bit spicier though (medium tasted like very mild) Will return.
