It was a steamy, yet pleasant day on Monday June 1, 2:00pm ish when my mom and I walked into the Zoups establishment. As we perused the menu, we noticed there were many options, but I was saddened to see that they did not have a sandwich with avocado as an ingredient. My mom ordered the Cobb salad and the lobster bisque, and I, a southwest looking sandwich with a lobster bisque soup. After we ordered, we waited a suboptimal amount of time to get the food, and my mother remarked on how the meal was quite overpriced. I explained that you could get more food at chipotle for the same cost. Finally, our food was ready, and I made the trip to bring it back to the table. I didnt quite care for the sandwich, but I ate it all the same. My mom and I both discussed the lobster bisque using words like delicious, very good, and definitely a do-over. We also like the fresh, warm, baguette included in the meal. However, we both commented on the fact that we had ordered too much food. If I were to see a change in the Zoups menu, it might be clearer information on portion sizing. Additionally a price change may be in order. Keep in mind, I do not specifically have an exact copy of the Zoups menu in my head, so these are just my impressions. As impressions are everything when choosing a restaurant, dont treat this review as a review, I know it sounds silly, but as a description of my experience at the establishment. You might just have the same experience.

I like this place. I really do. Its just so hard to actually give them my money. When do you close? Is it 8pm or 7pm? Open Sunday from noon to 3pm? No wait, were actually closed today. I cant keep up with your hours. Ill just go to Pie Five across the street where theyre open until 10pm every night. Please guys. Youre right next to Short Pump. Stay open until 9pm or something. This 7pm nights and weekends crap is annoying and makes me not want to patronize your business. When shopping somewhere is a hassle, most people will move onto another option. My favorite dish is their Mac and Cheese in a breadbowl. Only problem is they seem to serve it twice a month at most. I highly disagree with having to check their menu on the website before I make a trip out there. Theres no schedule where I can say "okay Ill head up there on Tuesdays" or something. Its seemingly completely random. Argh you have great food and your employees are kind and attentive. Just make it so I can actually eat what I like there after 8pm and on weekends.

Im sad to say that I am both drawn in and subsequently disappointed by Zoup on a semi-regular basis. Overpriced and the menu online is updated daily but is often not reflective of whats actually in the shop by the time of arrival. Many of the soups run dry and are unavailable. This is especially frustrating if youre trying to eat allergen-free soup. On no fewer than three occasions Ive thought Id eat at Zoup only to end up at the Moes in the same shopping center. They do not observe good allergen-safe food practices, either, which means the risk of contamination is carried in the food. Its unfortunate because I want to like this concept very much but its execution is lacking. Additionally, the early closing hours seem due to the nearby Innsbrook lunch rushes. This is surprising because plenty of people eat in this area at dinnertime and the store closes up shop quite early, especially on Fridays, which is also disappointing.

What a rippoff. I cant believe I just paid for this. The chili tastes like it has ketchup in it. The roasted beef sandwich needs more...well everything on it. Horseradish? Nope l dont taste any. Hmm what about beef? Nope none of that either. I mean I see two very thin slices, but all I taste is melted cheese. So much for treating my tastebuds to a better meal. Not gonna happen here. Im glad they have free WiFi so I can write this crappy review

Dont ever eat at Zoup in Glen Allen. I should have known that place was dirty when the cashier tried to put my cup face down on the counter. I dont understand how you mess up someones digestion process with vegetable soup and a piece of bread. Maybe Im bitter because Im in the middle of the runs. On the brighter side the food tasted good.

Really glad to have found this place! I retired from a place that had a real chef who made home-made soups almost every day, and missed that! I seem to be stuck on the Try Two, with a half-Greek salad and lobster bisque--nice portions, very friendly staff, quick service!
