One sunny Sunday afternoon in early April my wife and I decided to go to MACDOWELLS BREW Kitchen for a few beers and frickles. The band was great, the weather was great, and the people were great. We had four beers and two appetizers. I was running a tab at the outside bar and left my credit card number for the charges. When I ordered a round I would throw $5.00 cash into the tip cup. We decided to leave and I cashed out my bill in the amount of $48.00. Signed the bill and left. The next day I went to pay my credit card and found that I had three pending bills from MACDOWELLS BREW Kitchen. Two of the charges added up to the $48.00 charge that I had signed but there was an additional $44.00 charge on my card as well. Over the next several weeks I tried to speak to someone from MACDOWELLS BREW Kitchen but it was usually closed. I finally contacted a manager and showed her the problem. She stated that the pending charges were usually resolved to the proper amounts and I should check with my credit card company. I went home and found that the bill from MACDOWELLS BREW Kitchen was now $112.00. This meant I was overcharged $63.00 on a $48.00 bill. I contacted the manager and advised her of the new MACDOWELLS BREW Kitchen bill amount. She stated that she would look into it and get back to me. Meanwhile I filed a dispute against the charge with the credit card company and cancelled my credit card as well. I tried to contact the manager to get a status but to no avail. I would strongly recommend anyone who has been to MACDOWELLS BREW Kitchen check their credit card statements for overcharging by MACDOWELLS BREW Kitchen. Needless to say MACDOWELLS BREW Kitchen will not be my restaurant of choice.

ZERO (0) stars if allowed!! So after a wedding, many attendees including most of the wedding party decided to meet up at this place - WHAT A DIASTER & BAD DECISION!!! Many of us arrived between 11:30-12. They refused to let many of the people from the wedding into the place of varying ages (Grandparents - 60s, older siblings - 40s, and some of the wedding party late 20s). I spoke to 3 different people at the front door - the bouncer, supposedly the manager, & supposedly the owner. All 3 were ABSOLUTE JERKS!!! I will NEVER visit this place and will discourage others from visiting! Too many places in Leesburg to have fun and drink so AVOID this place like the plague!!

Great bar food with great prices, and the portions are not skimpy. Great fried foods, great burgers, and salads. The entrees are worthy of dinner. Nights features comedy shows at times, summer features bands on the outside. Sand entertains the kids for a while. Cool boat bar. MBK has to have the largest variety and selection of craft beers, featuring many local VA, MD brews. Great service, and the staff recognize regulars. MBK attracts the young crowd as well as the grownups. Not uncommon to attract Tuskie patrons when they are ready to cut loose and also serves as a pregame for those who need liquid courage to cut loose at Paynes.

Food was just okay, nothing to write home about. I thought it was going to be a bar atmosphere, not a playground. Other peoples random kids were running around and dumping water from the fountain around my table making muddy puddles. Also, some unattended brat was throwing rocks over the fence at cars parked in the street while their reluctant parents sat at a table and drank. Get an effin babysitter. The owner didnt even care when I told him. Place looks cool from the street, but if you arent someone who wants to drink and not pay for a babysitter, dont go here. Its a dump.

Even though they dont have table service and even though a 20% tip was left for them, they still cheated the credit card by converting a 3 to an 8 and trying to steal $5, not just on one customer but on two in the same group with the same brand of credit card. When challenged they could offer no explanation, made no offer to reimburse and never got back "later in the day" as promised. They are not just crooks, they are dumb. Check what goes on your credit card statement very carefully, pay cash or best solution - GO SOMEWHERE TRUSTWORTHY.

The only way to get drinks and food is to go up to the bar and place your order - no table service. Happy Hour is filled with little kids playing in the sand. The food is mediocre. They used to insist on holding your debit/card while you keep your tab open, but finally, thankfully, stopped doing that. The inside is dirty looking. The positive is that its near by for happy hour and their brew is very good, but the lack of being waited on and all the kids makes it an unpleasant experience.

Good atmosphere but we came as they opened and they were not ready. The wait was long and they didnt have coffee for brunch. Certain beers didnt pour. Staff seemed irate probably cause they were rushing to get ready. It wasnt until an hour in they seemed like they got rated. This made everything an hour longer. Food was below average. Fries came out cold. So did the rest of the fried dish. Wouldnt come again.

This used to be my old standby in town, but sadly the quality seems to have dropped off in recent months. The beer selection, while still better than many places is not what it was and it seems as though they have trouble keeping the beer at a good temperature. Food is reasonable, but not great. I really love what this place used to be and Im hoping they take some steps to put this back up to where it was.

2015 "best bar"? I love the theme and look...BUT...the lack of service at the tables stinks. If I have to get up and get my own food and drinks, then maybe kick the kids out so I can walk freely. Parents are the main culprit, sure. On the other hand, maybe limit the time theyre allowed in. Oh, and your menu lists a lot of bottled beer, yet you didnt have FIVE that I wanted. Five?!?!? Cmon

nice relaxing place to hang-out with friends while your feet enjoys the sand; kids seem to enjoy it too while they play with readily available toy trucks....only wish is to have live music in the afternoon until evening or play reggae or some kind of beach related music to complete the setting.

Pleasant microbrewery, in a big converted house. Best physical feature: sandy beach (!), with boats and bar stools outside, and oak cask alcove inside. Fresh cooked potato chips with panini were great, with good selection of brewed beers. Also of interest: beer batter oreos.

The food is mediocre... the fries were served flooded in oil. The beer was warm on a hot summer day. The servers were grumpy, but looking for tips, somebody has to teach them how to smile.

Cant get away to the beach? Come here! The atmosphere is fun, the musics great, the staff attentive--what more could you want? What a great addition to Leesburgs downtown scene.
