Ive been dining at Sakura for years. At one point, every single Saturday night! Ive eaten sushi at many other places in and out of the area and no one else has the freshest ingredients, and most consistent flavor. You should never order sushi on display, who knows how long its been sitting there! Ive tried just about every item on the menu, including the chefs special menu, and its all been very good. If you are a regular sushi diner, Id suggest looking at the chefs special menu to get something new and different from the usual rolls. The menu often changes when different ingredients are in season. Their chefs are top notch, and Emeril Lagase thinks so too! He dined there on three separate occasions while here in DC! Very cool :D. The Sushi bar side of the restaurant often gets over flow from people waiting to sit down on the Tepanyaki side. On weekends this can make the sushi bar seem over flowing, hardly the fault of the restaurant, but goes to show how well worth the wait is. The servings are pretty huge, so dont let your eyes be larger than your stomach when you order, you might not be able to finish! Ive always enjoyed our regular waitress Eunice, but I believe after years of working there she may have moved away as it has been a while since I have seen her. All in all I have to say Ive never been disappointed, always enjoyed the food and the service, and will continue to go there for my sushi cravings!

Ive been going to Sakura in this location for over 10 years now. Weve had many birthdays and even a rehearsal dinner here. The majority of the time we eat in the sushi area and, depending on when we arrive (typically without a reservation), we only have a wait a few minutes. The sushi chefs there are amazing and give you the best cuts of fish; not the tiny pieces that you get at other places...and theyre nice and cold (except for the unagi of course). The dragonroll is amazing, though sometimes I feel bad ruining their carefully designed plates. Try the spicy baked scallops with mushrooms and japanese mayo; OMG, I got my brother hooked on that appetizer. In the spring/summer, sometimes they have shrimp with green chive sauce; also amazing! Even in the summer I get the hot green tea; its made with brown rice or something like that and its so soothing. They have Ming and Jackie are great chefs and Eunice is our favorite server. We always feel welcome when we arrive and full when we leave. Dont forget the mochi for dessert. I think Ill go get sushi tonight. Enjoy!

Hi my name is Kate and when I went to Sakura it was the best place to eat ever. I could not believe how fast and great the service was all the waitresses all wore traditional Japanese dresses. The people who cook the food at the table where so funny they throw food to you and you catch it in your mouth I did. for your kids they have special chop sticks that are plastic and bend so it is easy for your little ones can pick up their food fast.My favorite dish is steak, lobster, and chicken they cook it just how you like it. You sit 10 to a table witch is great because you can bring 9 friends or bring the family and make friends with the other family that sits with you I give it a 5 star if it was out of 5 that is I would always recommended it have fun if you ever go.

Have eaten here 4 or 5 times and the service and the food got a little worse each time. Now it is terrible. Last night my wife used the ladies room, and there were no tissues anywhere. We asked the server to include waters with our drink order, and she was overwhelmed. When we did get something we ordered, it was after a very long wait. Our Chef-cook had no personality, when he spoke to anyone at the table, no one knew who he was talking to. He acted as if it was quite a labour to even cook for us. These are usually symptoms of a larger problem. We will NOT return. If they do not do something to improve their attitude, service and food quality, soon, I expect they wont last a year.

I was a regular customer of this Sakura but will, unfortunately, not be going back. This time and the last time I ate here (6 months to a year ago) I became sick no more than 20 minutes after eating. This past visit, however, was the worst one yet. The servers and chefs were not as friendly as they once were, and the chefs have even lost their fun, theatrical touch. Our chef burnt everything of mine and my boyfriends he cooked except for the sprouts (yes, even the rice). The ginger dressing of the salad was water and the miso soup was so steamy that even after 10 minutes of cooling it was still hot. Im so disappointed this establishment has lost its touch

After being a regular customer I will not be returning to this restaurant after the appalling service we received this evening. First we were told they do not do call ahead service when we were on our way despite taking previously. We arrived and they gave us a 45 min wait. After 45 min they told us another 20 min after that they told us another 10 after another 20 minutes we complained to the manager and were finally sat. After yet another 20 mins waiting for our server we asked the manager again and he brought someone over. She took our order. After waiting another 30 min and seeing two tables get sat after have their chef come we left.

If I could give this place a negative 5 star I would. The cooks mock you right to your face, the waitress barely speak English. They dont speak Real Japanese and they havent even heard of naruto. The floor is dirty and the air is cancerous. I wouldnt t reccomend this to my worst enemy. If you have no choice but to go I reccomend not tipping if anything the water is the best part of the meal!

Great huge slices of fish on the sushi, and a massive cup of green tea. I now understand why foreigners joke about American-size portions. We only had two types of rolls and two types of sushi, but they were excellent! The only complaint (minor) is that half the edamame were over-salted and the other half under-salted. Service was fast, thoughtful and attentive.

My date and I arrived late one week night knowing we would be alone at a grill table. Accordingly we took care of the staff to make it worth it to serve us with a handsome tip (cook separate). We had an intimate affair for two and a blast to say the least. Thanks Sakura for a good night!

Chef was awesome But We found a small bug running across one of our plates while we were waiting for the chef. Then when food was served had a Huge Hair in it. Manager did not come over and apologize. Mixed feelings about the restaurant now.

Best sushi around the area with reasonable prices. Service is usually good in the bar/sushi area. Not as fond of their hibachi. Its overpriced, the fried rice was not very good, nor was the steak.

We were told on the phone they close at 10 pm and when we got there at 9:30 the door was locked. A manager came with very broken English and said they were closed and had there last seating.
