I have visited this establishment a few times over several years and in the beginning thought it to be acceptable. However, as time has gone by I have found the quality of the food items and service to be inconsistent and to be progressively questionable about being satisfactory. The latest visit (May 2011) involved my order of a pastrami sandwich and my friend’s order of the fried fish. The waitress made no effort to clarify that I had choices about the way the sandwich could be prepared and as a result, I got a cold pastrami sandwich on plain rye with a VERY thin sliver of swiss cheese that cost me an extra dollar for an already expensive sandwich ($11.00). I noticed on the menu that it clearly stated on an individual line that I could “upgrade” the side dish of a sandwich to steak fries for $1.95 and decided to accept the “option”. What I got was a small plate of lukewarm fries for $3.95 because the “upgrade” was not available for sandwiches, which was clarified only after receiving my bill. When the fried cod was ordered, I clearly heard my friend say the “codfish sandwich” and heard the waitress change the name to something else in such a way as to be taken as correcting my friend. I said, “Well, if that was what the codfish is called…” while looking across the table, after being “corrected” twice. What was delivered was a meatball sandwich. After getting the correct item ordered (codfish) and asking if I could get my sandwich griddled, we waited 20 minutes and received a fish sandwich that with extremely overcooked, greasy fish and my pastrami sandwich that had the bread buttered and griddled but with an ice cold interior. We went ahead and ate what we had to “just get it over with”. At the end of the meal, after we asked for our check, I wanted to try some of the “complimentary coleslaw” delivered to the table at the beginning of the order process but decided against it when I found something black stuck to the side of the bowl that clearly would have been noticed by anyone that cared while filling the dish, that it was NOT CLEAN! I brought this to the attention of a server that took the dish away and heard nothing more about it. The total bill came to $34.00 plus for 2 regular sandwiches, 1 soda and a side of fries and poor service with a poor attitude. We agreed, “Never again…”.

I love a good reuben, but at a place like this I had to try one of their signatures, and ended up getting the "Fuggedaboutit". I thought it would be packed at lunch time, but when I walked in to the Carry Out side, I was helped immediately and my sandwich was done in just a few minutes. So heres how it breaks down: FOOD: This sandwich intimidated me when I felt the weight of the bag as I carried it out to my car - but I was already expecting it to be a monster, so all was well. This thing was beautiful...corned beef and pastrami bursting out of its perfectly grilled bread prison. With the liver spread on the sandwich though, it couldve used a little more acidity from an extra bit of slaw or Russian dressing. Anyway, delicious sandwich. I know theyre probably delicious to some people, but I definitely wasnt a fan of the pickles - they were atrocious to me. Theres a fine line between tasting preserved and fresh as opposed to slightly spoiled and too salty, and these were the latter. The potato salad, thankfully, was perfect. SERVICE: Quick, nice, easy ordering. PRICE: The sandwich was great, dont get me wrong, but Id rate it (and accompanying pickle and tiny cup of potato salad) at around $9-$10...not $13. This is the kind of deli that will break you. This being my only complaint though, its not a big deal. Overall, liked the place, would probably go back to try a few more of the choices on their gargantuan menu.

Me and my hubby went today and were honestly a bit scared from some of these reviews about service... We were pleasantly surprised at how friendly Rick was with us. We even chatted about New York and some good places to visit while there. As for the food, never been to New York but man that was two tasty sandwiches...we had "the Esther" which is a pastrami sandwhich with cheese and peppers, and the Chazzer which is a bacon wrapped meatloaf sandwhich. We enjoyed every bit of our meal from the toasted bread to the root beer finishing it off. We even ate some cheesecake imported from Jr.s in New York. We will definitely be going back to try the Reuben sandwhich and enjoy some breakfast.

I do not consider this a very good deli, NY Jewish-style or otherwise. The Jewish-style items are really not that great or authentic. Sure, there is not much in the way of alternatives in this area, but this place is simply not very good. They boast that they have Boars Head meats for crying out loud! Thats not something to brag about for a real quality deli. Its a bit pricey and the quality of food and service does not match the cost. On more than one occasion different members of the staff have been rude and/or got our orders wrong. The only reason we go back is because its right across the street, but I am rethinking that...

Its the second time Ive been there trying to see how is Ny deli like and unfortunately we had a worst experience with the customer service plus the food was really greasy. The server (young male white fat) had no Patience at all and was coming to us asking if we were ready , we were not ready at all but he kept pushing with a sarcastic tone of voice, dont know if he is owners son but hes SERVICE SUCKS !!also the food was really GREASY! I dont usually write that many reviews but since I had an awful experience just had to do it. It really sucks because its close to our place.

I would have rated the corned beef but I was unable to order a meal for the last two consecutive times I have been at this joint. The first time I was in there was yelled at for sitting at a table before it was cleaned. So I left. The next time I walked in with a cup of coffee I bought outside and was told I could not bring it in with the intent to eat their food. I told them I would not drink it and order a fresh cup. The waitress has a problem working with customers. She took my coffee and put it on the floor. Gross. I have given them two opportunities. Will not be returning
