I took my daughter there for her 23rd birthday. The food was really good and the waitress was really polite until....... she came back to get our credit card. The bill was 102.00. We added a tip in to be charged on credit card and also left her additional dollars just because we were pleased with the service and wanted to give her extra. Shes going to stand there and say you have to leave 15% for tip. My daughter and the rest of the family looked in shocked. We had left her way over 15% but she did not know that because we were still signing the receipt. The young lady was a Mexican girl and yes we were black actually the only black customers there. But didnt feel uncomfortable or anything because when we came in we had a cake and the young man that seated us asked if we wanted to put cake in refrigerator and just so friendly. But back to my point, we did not want to leave her any tip after that statement but did because she did give us good service. But it was so disheartening for her to say that to us. I pray with all that is going on people will stop being judgmental by the color of someones skin. I guarantee you my family probably tipped this young lady better than the guest that "looked different than us"

First off the first experience at christmas was nice. The last time i went my baby started to cry and the waitress starts telling me how to hold my baby and why is she crying...some bell staff or whoever he was seemed like he had to be worried too. Like she would ruin the embeance. All i had to do was be left to alone to feed her. Then when I wanted to order egg drop soup for my children and I she kept going on about it not being free. Then the food we had was so sour it was almost innedible. I was never offered more to drink, not even a water. However with an almost 80 dollar meal youd think we could get one refill of juice. Then on check out she got all mad about her tip not being big enough and threatened to get the manager. My husband sheapishly gave her more money when I was livid. Anyway, she saodnshe must be tipped 10% and she would get her manager. She did not deserve a good tip. Then I callef to complain when I got home and was nzot offered any recompense let alone an apology.

We always come here when traveling through Charlottesville because it is the best Chinese restaurant we have found around this part of Virginia. Its not buffet style, or a cheap American Chinese take-out type restaurant. Its more expensive than that, but worth the money in my opinion. They have dishes that you eat with a bowl of rice. The sweet and sour whole fish is yummy, so are those puffy pancakes that they serve with curry; theyll give you as much extra curry sauce as you want. (Sorry I dont remember the actual names for the dishes). Their egg plant dish is really good too. I know its not as good as NY or China, but its the best around here. **The only negative, is the seating in the booths. The way they built that part is very uncomfortable because your booth will slide slightly under the divider above it and make you hunch over. So I would suggest sitting at a table, unless there are no other people in the booths, so you can pull your seat forward.

Take out service is terrible. When I called in my order, I asked for sauces, normally served ala carte at the table, to be included. The person taking the order, put his name on the ticket--The Boss. Bottom line, he complained that I wanted sauce in two plastic containers and when I checked the bag upon my arrival for pickup, he forgot the sauce and made a big deal about how it cost him money to provide such service. Not a very good role model for his employees, as the "boss" made a scene in front of them, and certainly didnt do a very good job of making me want to come back to his place of business. We only get one chance to make a positive impression and he didnt take advantage of the opportunity to meet my needs as a customer. I will tell everyone in CVILLE that I know about why Peter Changs shouldnt be on their list of favorite restaurants.

This place appears to be really nice but dont get fooled!!! I went there with my brother for dinner and spent around $70 on three dishes and the service lady was terrible also the food was a mess!!! She didnt even has a smile on her face and ask the customers if they want anything else. All she does was sitting there and talking with someone on the phone. She only shows up at ur table when you ready to order, bring ur food to ur table and asked for your check!!!! We were really disappointed with the service and left about $8 for tips, however she followed us out the door and asked us to give her 20% of what We have ordered and this was obsurd!!! Dont go there unless you wanna waste your money!!! There is couple other authentic Chinese food restaurant in the town that are far more tasty and better sevice, so make your best choice!!!!

This was my second time coming to this restaurant, however I did not have a pleasant experience this time around. The food was delicious yet we received very rude, unwelcoming service from one of the members of the waitstaff. He approached us in a very brash manner asking if we were only going to drink water. After we had responded, I started asking questions about the menu when he just walked away. We were later greeted by a friendlier member who was supposedly our actual waiter. By the end of our meal, the rude waiter returned asking if we would like boxes for our full plates of food. He returned with the smallest boxes in the restaurant. Its a shame because the experience wouldve been very enjoyable had it not been for that one person.

Easily the best Chinese food in Charlottesville and quite possibly all of VA. The signature "hot and numbing" flavor is distinctive and delicious. Its easy to see why Peter Chang has a cult following. The egg drop soup has corn in it, which added a bit of extra flavor to a simple but well-executed dish. The dry fried eggplant was like spicy basil eggplant frech fries - well-seasoned and crispy. The mapo tofu was complex - rich, earthy, smoky, spicy. My partner enjoyed his hot and sour soup and chefs special duck in clay pot too (although just be aware, it is a huge portion that could easily feed 2+). The food came quickly (too quickly actually - almost all at once - but who cares, its the food that matters).

Food was good and plenty to choose for vegetarian people like me. Although service was not that great. Waitress gave our order to a different table I saw it when the server placed it to another table yet, ten minutes later waitress realized, came back and went to grabbed the plate and placed it in our table, even though I knew that the other table did not touch the plate by the time got to out table our dish was cold and If I was the waitress, I personally would take it back and bring another one fresh and hot one. (probably they would place it inn a microwave though) Taste of Food: Good (some cold) Service: poor Time: poor
