I hate this place with a passion. To be fair: the establishment is fine. The coffee is decent; not amazing; but satisfying, the staff there are very nice, and theyre always playing great classic rock songs. So why do I hate this place? Simple: its because of the people that go there. Sunset is a complete hipster twerp dive hangout spot. The place is always packed with teens and kids in their early 20s that all think theyre very wise and mature for their age and think they have it all figured out. The only reason they get to go there is because Sunset doesnt force you to buy anything to sit there. The main attraction for these twerps to go to Sunset is they get to surround themselves with people that reinforce their delusional image of themselves. They sit around and have group discussions about comic books and video games. Occasionally, they try to have grown-up discussions about things like politics. Those discussions never last very long because its quite obvious that all of their knowledge about politics comes from memes they see posted on social media. I should point out that I am not the least bit socially conservative, but another problem is that a number of young girls, with little to no self-respect, show up there dressed extremely inappropriately. I dont know if theyre looking for action or attention. This wouldnt be so bad if there werent a number of creepy middle-aged men hanging out there. I suppose theyre desperately trying to cling to the youth that left them so long ago, but looking at these girls is at least a part of why they hang out at Sunset. The regulars at Sunset tend to heavily romanticize this place. Be weary of kids inviting you to Sunset, telling you that it has the most amazing coffee. The coffee from any chain coffee shop is on par if not superior to the coffee at Sunset. There is nothing about this place redeeming enough to put up with its customers or the kids that show up and dont buy anything. If youre not a 20 year old hipster, avoid this place at all costs. PS If you go there, be careful about people asking you for cigarettes. Most of them are underage and you can get in trouble.

Sunset Coffee was introduced to me through my best friend, Vivian. It is located near a VASA fitness center and a few other smaller businesses. The outside of the building looks casual, nothing too eye-catching, but once you walk in, it gives off a relaxed, "cool" vibe. There is artwork on the walls and a huge chalkboard full of options. The tables are usually clean and there are no problems with the bathrooms. The baristas are very nice and friendly and one barista actually knew my usual order for a while because I used to go there all the time. The manager comes to greet me whenever I see him and stays to talk for a little bit. The prices are around $4-$5 for a cup of coffee. Other than coffee, they serve Hot Chocolate and Italian Sodas. The drinks have always been tasty and I havent ever had a problem with them. I usually go there to study, especially during the school year, but there are all types of people at the coffee shop. There are people who go there to chill, hang with friends, study, and/or finish work-related business. There are seats inside and outside the coffee house. Inside, there are more people who focus on their own thing, but outside, people are usually chilling, talking, or smoking. Sometimes there are dogs in the area, but usually theyre outside. The coffee shop is a little loud because of the coffee making and the talking, but I find it great background noise for studying or getting work done. I see acquaintances and friends there all the time from different parts of town and they enjoy coming here as well, so I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a local coffee shop.

Ive been coming here since 2010 and service has always been consistent. Service is fast, efficient, and has a youthfully professional feel. Large inside area with tables to do homework and laptop projects complete with outlets and wifi. Outside on the patio hosts tables, comfortable bench, and an environment perfect for chatting while looking out at either the Salt Lake valley or the easterly mountains. Being open till midnight, 1 on weekends and 1 am daily in the summer brings an invite to drink, socialize and caters to all age groups. :)

What a great place! I had heard about it, and even looked for it driving past but its at the back of the parking lot so its hard to see, but man is it worth finding. Their patio is AMAZING! Great views of the Salt Lake Valley and there is a covered section and open section. The coffee was delicious, I had the Sumatra, and the baristas were very friendly. I heard from others that their teas are also amazing. I had an excellent experience there and will now and forever continue to go back there. I recommend it to everyone.

Love to meet my friends here to talk and hangout. Its a great environment with pretty great coffee. If youre trying to go to study though be careful what time you go. Around 7 it usually starts picking up, especially during the summer. It gets really busy and pretty loud. Super fun when you just want to be social and hangout. Pretty popular place for teenagers but the staff is always nice and the manager remembers his customers. Beware of the bathroom though, sometimes its disgusting.

Just moved here. First impressions. Great service, great view of valley/mountains. Its so BIG they could be a live venue for music, poetry, art shows, fund raiser events, etc. Food, Organic Food (bananas), sandwiches, etc, would be a nice addition. I had a prepackaged muffin that wasnt good. A decent manager could get all that done. Overall coffee good. Could use more of a high end selection and options, but Im a coffee snob.

Simple and sweet. Good utilization for a strip mall space. Theyve left it open and airy. Lots of seating and a central bar. But the best part about this spot is summer mornings with a view off the back porch of the entire valley! Pretty epic really. The coffee and tea selection is perfectly acceptable and they often have cute men as baristas so they get a point for that ;) Keep rockn it Sunset.

They have great drinks and great service. More couches/arm chairs would be a great addition. The thing that irritates me the most is they blast their music WAY too loud and its often heavy metal which makes it really hard to concentrate and study or even talk to someone....this kind of defeats the purpose of going to a coffee shop to get work done or be social. Also, it is ridiculously hot in there.

I loved (past tense) sitting outside sunset with my friends... Until one day i came in, used the restroom. and asked if they were hiring. As we walked outside a scruffy looking man followed us and told us if we come back we would be prosecuted for tresspassing And wouldnt give a reason for it. So im quite disappointed. I guess this place isnt as fun as it once was.

The waffles are amazing! Drinks are always magical and the service wow! I have have a bit of a snobby attitude for coffee and like it a certain way, sunset accomidates every request with a smile! The music varies but you can usually stand whatever it is. The regulars are pretty cool, and the employees are friendly and generally remember your name and your drink!
