Im kind of kicking myself for taking so long to try this amazing place out! I cant comment on there coffee which is sad to say, although there coffee selection is amazing as well as their tea selection. There ice tea is great and the size of this place is awesome. Decent size and super chill environment to study or meet up with anyone. This place allows dogs because there was a man that had a tiny dog with him while working on his laptop and the dog was sitting in its bed next to him. It didnt make noise or disturb anyone so maybe that is one of the conditions. I ordered the yellow curry with tofu and it was delicious. They ask you if you want mild, medium, or hot for the spicing. I am not used to being asked that about curry so I said Medium because curry can normally rest on the "mild" ratio already. This was SPICY! There was hot flakes on the top I could have picked off or asked for the hot on the side. Id recommend you do that instead of just thinking itll be no biggie and mixing it all in. Otherwise you will ensue with the burning tongue!

In this place I met the single most annoying living creature in the world. We can call him/her (I dont know its sexuality and I dont assume gender) Sam the fly. Sam would not stop annoying me the entire time. In fact, because of Sam I was barely able to enjoy the amazing music that was at the perfect volume. Because of Sam I had to constantly hide my favorite sandwich in the world (avocado toast that reminds me of my childhood). I constantly had to move around the comfortable couches trying to hide from Sam. Finally, I kept missing all the awesome artwork and colors of the wall that make me feel at home and cozy because I was trying to find Sam before Sam would land again on my legs or amazing food and coffee. Thanks again Sam for giving me a hard time enjoying my favorite place.

Bottom line: Great for studying (and curry). Coffee is good but not the best in town (it takes a lot to get to the top coffee level, for my taste), the staff is always friendly, helpful, and pleasant, the seating is sufficient... it stays quiet most of the time and so is good for getting work done - seems like thats what most people use it for. The surprise element here: curry dishes. The massaman curry here is very reasonably priced (currently under 7 dollars) and the best ive had in salt lake city. Ive spent many hours a week for several months at this shop and I have no complaints yet!

What a cool place. Ive been a handful of times over the last year but recently moved a short bike rides distance from this place and I plan on becoming a regular. The staff is friendly and I cant wait to get to know them. I havent tried a lot off their menu. I normally just bike up, order a small coffee, grab a cup of water and sit outside watching the same people travel up and down 1st and I street on their daily commutes as I read, or try to. Its very relaxing. Hope to see you up there.

I always have a lovely experience whenever I go into Cafe on 1st. The people are lovely, the coffee is some of the best that Ive had in the city and the atmosphere speaks of comfort in all things. The decor is a mix mash of styles that speaks to the eclectic neighborhood that is the Avenues. Local artists decorate the walls with their pieces and light background music keeps the place feeling alive. I take all my friends here because it really is just that spectacular.

Went here this morning for a morning refreshment and to use the wi-fi before a meeting. I had an iced chai tea that was very tasty and the wi-fi was easy to connect to. They had plenty of one or two person tables available so it was nice to quickly be able to find a seat, connect to the internet and get some emails returned for work while I was on the road before a sales call. It was a pleasant place to stop for what my needs were this morning.

This is a regular haunt for me as a graduate student. As a student, I evaluate my coffeeshops a little differently. Cafe on 1st has lots of small tables, so you can frequently find your own little spot with a couple larger tables for group work. FAST internet, which is very helpful. Open late, also helpful. Lots of options, lots of friendly employees and excellent food. Great study haunt, great place to meet friends. All around great shop.

Well I have to say, simple"ly" amazing. This small cafe located on 1st ave and I st. is run by a very polite family from Thailand. The food is great, the coffee is amazing. Thai tea and red espresso are a must try! I often frequent this cafe in the mornings and have enjoyed many of the drinks they offer, even some surprise concoctions the barista invented based off how I wanted to feel :) Highly recommended, highly enjoyed!

Great neighborhood coffee house with a cozy decor and great eco friendly options. The inside is full of lounge chairs and couches that give the place a very home like feel and the service is always fast and spot on. Great vegan and gluten free options for snaking and the coffee is a local roast and is usually pretty great. Vast loose tea selection as well. Check them out

I wish they would replace the wobbly tables. They also need office chairs, not those low slung lounge chairs. I have to sit on a pillow to reach my laptop keyboard, and drink part of my coffee before I set it on the table, or it will rock and slosh. Very good coffee, fast WIFI, both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands, strong uplink. Academic atmosphere. People hang here to do homework.

I study here all the time. Chill place with good food options (vegan and gluten free available too, and super yummy) and awesome coffee/tea. Ive tried most things and its always good. Plus they have rotating art exhibits from local artists so its always fun to see whats new. Really cozy, chill vibe and they dont seem to mind if you camp out to study

Just moved to Salt Lake City, and Im lucky enough to live nearby this amazing place. My favorites are their chai latte (so creamy!) and cappuccino. Still havent tried any food of theirs (except for their delicious poppyseed muffin), but they have a huge, varied menu, so Ill definitely try some food there sometime soon.

This is my favorite place to eat when I attend workshops at Avenues Yoga. The curry selections are delicious and I find myself craving their special salad dressing. Its a relaxed, comfortable environment for all ages, even senior citizens like me. In good weather, the eating area outside feels fresh.

Coffee shop crowds arent usually my favorite, but cafe on 1st is far from the vibe of most coffee shops! All the workers are friendly and nice, and their chai tea is the best around. Variety of seats and generally not a problem finding one. Bottom line, my favorite coffee shop!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Firstly, why do they put all their coffees ib take away cups when they are being consumed in the cafe? Bad for the environment. Also the food sucks. I ordered bomb burrito with sausage. Came without sausage. Not much egg in there. Basically a ball of avocado and sour cream. Disgusting.
