Amazing food, friendly staff. While I do prefer the Riverdale location best, Layton is a close second. As for the restaurant itself, even though its technically "fast food" its so fresh and delicious youd never guess. I never leave saying "I wish I wouldnt have eaten that" like I do at normal fast food places. I brag to my out of state friends about Zupas ALL the time and take anyone who visits me to Zupas first. Not a single one has disagreed with me about how amazing it is. If you live near a Zupas and havent gone you need to! You wont regret it. (Im mildly obsessed with Zupas if you cant tell.) My personal favorites are the Turkey Spinach Artichoke, Chicken Chop Salad, and the Lobster Bisque. While Im not much of a sweets person so I have not had their desserts myself. I hear they are "to die for" as well. Thats my basic response when someone asks "what is Zupas?". I thought Id share it here for anyone wondering if they should go.

I love the food here. The service isnt something to brag about though. They rush you through the line so fast. If you dont know what youre going to order they get irritated and visibly so. However, it only seems to be the people taking food orders. The staff working the register are really pleasant. The last time we were here, the soda fountain wasnt working properly. The syrup wasnt dispensing on all but one drink. When we brought it up to the young girl clearing tables, she shrugged and said she had checked it 5 minutes ago...I told her we just tried to fill our drinks and it wasnt working so she told me she would check again. She didnt and proceeded to avoid us so I went and asked the girl at the register. She apologized and tried to fix the problem. I was disappointed that the young teen worker would be so disrespectful, but the other girl was very professional and tried to fix the issue.

Your food is always good, your service however leaves so much to be desired. I like to give the benefit of the doubt. When it comes to two visits in a row I feel it is not worth coming back. Tonight we visited and we did not have time to finish eating our food before we were told that the fountain would be turned off, it was not even 10 pm. We left with sandwiches in hand and were rushed out the door. All before 10pm. It is very disappointing to be treated like less of a customer because of the time of day you get to eat. The previous experience was just bad customer service. I was overcharged and I stood in line for 15 minutes before the problem was fixed. Numerous people walked past me and numerous people ignored my obvious need for help. If it was just for your food alone I would go as much as I could. I doubt if the third time will be the charm.

When theyre close to closing time customer service is no longer a priority to them. I went in there around 8 and they close at 9, and they had practically no lettuce left, all that they had was kale and some baby field greens. I asked the guy if they had any mixed greens and he told me they were out so I asked about spinach and he said they would have to prep some. First of all spinach comes in a bag all they have to do is open the bag!!! They were just too lazy to do it. Then getting to the soups they were out of cauliflower! They didnt care to prep more because they were more worried about getting off of work on time and didnt want to have to do anymore work. When I worked there if we ran out of anything no matter the time then its our fault for not prepping enough and we would go and prep more, you dont tell customers youre out to get out of prepping more.

Honestly, if they get your order right, the food is good. The soups are very good. The system at the counter is apauling! Truly, 3 out of 4 times, they fouled up our phone orders. We would get someone elses food and only part of our order. At the restaurant, it is difficult for them to keep your order right because 4 or 5 people handle it before you get to the cashier. Meanwhile, other patrons orders are slipping ahead of yours along the way often splitting pieces of your order between servers. The confusion is very apparent on the servers faces while they are trying to figure out how to assemble the contents of each (your) order while another patrons order is passed to them. Sounds confusing? It is! We no longer patronize Zupas. Good food, just to experience the frustrating disappointment of their very messed up system of service!

The food is pretty good, but the service is absolutely awful. They are extremely stingy and rude. I went there with my mom the other day as a girls day. I have a one and a half year old, so I NEVER get a break and the general manager was so rude to us and ruined my only day off! My mom had asked for a little bit of extra ranch dressing, because she didnt want a dry salad. She said she didnt mind paying for it, she was even willing to buy a second salad just to get a little bit more dressing, and the general manager was very condescending and rude to my mom about it and wouldnt even let her pay for more until my mom said she wasnt coming back again (because of the service, not the ranch). We are both extremely reasonable people, we werent yelling, we were completely calm, and they were just so rude!

Came in here around 8 on a week day. There was no line, yet the staff seemed agitated and were rude. We ordered three large containers of soup and watched to our surprised as each container was filled 3/4 of the way full. When we asked about this, the staff said they are only allowed a certain number of scoops per container.... Each order of soup comes with Chocolate Dipped Strawberries. They gave us our soup, bread, and only after I asked about them did they inform me that the strawberries were all gone. Staff did not offer any alternative to the strawberries nor did they seem to care at all that we werent getting everything we ordered. We will not be returning.

Weve lived out of the area for several years and always look forward to coming back for some Zupas. Today was a serious let down however. After waiting in line to order, the person taking orders didnt even look at me to give me any clue that she was listening to my order as I responded. Worse yet, she proceeds to ask me a question then immediately turns and chats with a couple of other employees about non-urgent matters (I could hear the entire conversation) and never bothers to hear my question in response. I get its a busy place but if I am going to spend my money somewhere I expect basic human courtesies rather than being left to feel unimportant.

I only discovered Cafe Zupas a few years ago and it quickly became my favorite place for food. I love everything Ive ever tried there. I always get a Sandwich and Salad combo, but my wife always gets a soup and says they are amazing. Cafe Zupas seems to have this neat knack for taking food that I usually wouldnt even like (like olives for example) and combining them in a way that makes for a superior flavor experience. The only reason I dont go here more often is because you pay more for this higher-quality food. Many times I sacrifice taste for the sake of my wallet. I would easily pick Cafe Zupas over more expensive places though.
