Yet another establishment that is geared more towards serving alcohol, but certainly accommodates those wishing to get a bite to eat with a small selection of dishes at upper moderate prices. The bar is the central attraction here with concentric tables and booths scattered throughout. Outdoor seating is available in suitable weather. Friendly service and comfortable yet well appointed surroundings is the hallmark of this restaurant/bar. Funky remakes of baby boomer tunes are played at an appropriate volume to facilitate conversation. With gentle prodding from our waitress, we decided to try the baked cauliflower to start; large flowerlettes doused in butter, sprinkled with cheese and garnished with fresh thyme stems, the appetizer was properly cooked and tasty, but a little salty. Most entree selections were $15 and above. We decided on the fish and chips which was priced at exactly the aforementioned. Three pieces of tempura battered cod served on top of more french fries than one person could reasonably consume. This dish came "plated" in a paper lined galvanized water pan sitting on top of a wooden butcher block accompanied by an unusual tartar sauce, lemon wedges and bottle of malt vinegar. This playful manner of food service was not anticipated, but did not detract from the well prepared dish. The fish and fries were fresh from the fryer and served immediately at 500 degrees. Cautious consumption was required for 10 minutes or so until all cooled down a bit. They dont appear to have lunch specials, so be prepared to dig a little deeper into your pocketbook than normal; i.e., the General Public is not exactly for the general public in terms of prices, but if you want to splurge a little, its a nice place to get a bite and have a drink or two. Happy hour starts at 3:00 on the weekdays.

Im glad to see the Rim opening some non-chain (or at least non-national chain) restaurants for a change. Ever since seeing the sign and menu, Ive been wanting to try the General Public. We started with the honey fried chicken. These were chicken wings that had been battered in a spicy cayenne batter, fried, and then glazed in delicious honey. The chicken was extremely moist, the crust spicy and sweet with crunch, and the flavor was delicious. Definitely one of the better fried chicken dishes you can get in town. Up next was the bacon burger on an egg bun, lettuce, tomato, bacon aioli, and cheddar. The best characteristic of the burger was the balance. I could often taste every ingredient, especially the sharp cheddar and bacon aioli. The meat was flavorful and accentuated by the aioli and cheddar. The tomato and lettuce were fresh, and the egg bun was soft and buttery. Probably even better than the burger was the fish and chips. I am not exaggerating when I say General Publics is the best Ive had. The fish was perfectly cooked - moist while flaky - with a batter that teetered the line between crispy and chewy, or Id say, crisp-though-chey. The flavor was rich, and the fries werent bad either. They bring out a type of tarter sauce and ketchup - along with malt vinegar - but Id recommend asking for the bacon aioli, at least for the fries. I ate the fish without any condiments as they were unneeded. In short, The General Public is elevated comfort food and drinks in an modern industrial setting. All the dishes I tried did not disappoint, and I regret not ordering the birthday cake; however, theres always next time.

Cant say enough good things about this place! Our server, Alex (short for Alexandra, I believe) was outstanding. Sitting on the patio as the sun went down was PERFECT. And the Sundown Shot--what a BRILLIANT idea. (In case you havent heard, everyone who is in the restaurant when the sun goes down, receives a complimentary Sundown Shot crafted by the bartender!) The food was SO fantastic! The cauliflower appetizer was so simplistic, but nothing short of magical. Run, dont walk--and stay for a while. You will NOT be disappointed.

The restaurant is beautiful has a upscale vibe with upscale prices in the food and you can still feel relaxed. I went in at 6:30 just my wife and I we couldnt even hear each other over the loud music the place was practically empty. Despite the atmosphere the food didnt match the price point I had the bacon burger for the price I could of gone across the street and had a better burger. Wife had the Greek Gyro the turkey was dry disappointed by the food that dont match the place.

All hype no delivery. The expectations were set too high, mistake #1. Only 2 choices for a burger so I politely asked the waiter for his recommendation, mistake #2. So how do you screw up a $16 burger? Let me explain.... egg bun, house mustard, watercress, ale glazed shallots & muenster cooked medium. Sounds like a great combination in theory, but in practice it is an assault on the senses: to many flavors competing for first place with no winner.

Ive been here twice. My first time was terrible. However, I came to give it a second chance. I know places have bad nights. Same story on trip 2. My friends and I were seated, and thats it. It was not a busy night bit took over 10 min for a server to come to us. I know because I timed it on my second trip. Service for the rest of the night was terrible. Music was just as bad. Drinks are well overpriced food is not bad but not great.

Interior atmosphere was nice. Place was clean, comfortable. Food was pretty good. Something un edible was found in the food and we told our waitress who reported to the manager who came to our table just ask if everything was okay. We said yes. she then walked away. Because we didnt say anything , not really wanting to complain. She didnt bother to bring it up. Was disappointed in how management handled that.

The staff was very polite and alert when I wanted anything: refill, changes, and the check. The Bacon Burger is honestly the best burger Ive ever had. All the ingredients tasted fresh and crispy. A lot of the items are simple, but yet delicious (Fish and chips). Everything Ive had here sat well with my stomach. WAY BETTER THAN HOPDODDY, go to General Public instead.

Pretty solid menu, with just the right amount of modifications to make it interesting, such as the hot ham sandwich with shaved brussels sprouts that add an interesting bitter counterfoil to the rich ham and cheese. Good salads, an excellent list of apps and desserts round out the menu. Add attentive service to the mix and you have the makings of a decent time.

Staff was attentive, friendly, and efficient. We had the meat&cheese board and the Greek turkey pita. Everything was delicious and fresh. Not sure why this restaurant is basically empty when weve gone, its a gem. Mauricio our waiter was wonderful and the hostess was very considerate of the fact my husband was on crutches. Definitely going back.

My review is about the food. The food was deep fried and greasy. Chicken apple sandwich lacked flavor (ordered by my wife and friend- both didnt finish it). My burger was overcooked with a greasy oily fried egg. The atmosphere was good and sounds like the drinks are good, but the food lacks much and needs significant improvement.

Walked into the place and the restaurant was 1/4 full. Took 15 minutes to get a table. Really long wait for a place that was practically empty. Took over an hour to get our food. Manager was horribly rude and said a 30 minute wait for food is normal. This place is an overpriced chilis with bad service. Never going back
