When I lived in the Galleria I frequented the Hideaway every week, and sometimes twice. I hadnt been there in a few months but it was time to get the girls from work back there. I chose Thursday nights because of their lobster, which is excellant, but tonight we got there at 6pm and they were already out of lobster. I still love their food, but the service completely sucked tonight. We couldnt get drink refills, some of us were going to the bar ourselves for our drinks. It took half an hour to get the dressing for my salad, 90 minutes for a friend to get a take out box for her leftovers. I had a friend who came in late, she was not acknowledged for the 20 minutes she sat there. As we were trying to check out there was confusion in the pricing. Turns out the waitress doesnt inform you that on a party of 5 there is an 18% gratuity added on. So when one of my friends was trying to figure out the discrepency, the owner comes over and informs us of the gratuity. We didnt even see a bill. So basically the server, Monique, is trying to hide the fact shes already recieved a tip so we would all tip her again. The owner came over to explain the gratuity. I explained that we couldnt get refills on our drinks, the table is still completely covered with dirty dishes and glasses from friends who had already left. The service was terrible and if she was putting a tip on there already, she needed to make sure she earned it. She was too busy flirting with the table of 4 guys next to us who had no problems getting their refills when they asked for it. The owners excuse.....AND NO LIE FOLKS...."IT IS WHAT IT IS" I said to him so the terrible service on the $200 spent here by this table is just that, it is what it is? He repeated it 3x, by the last time we were fed up and packed up and left. As my one friend was exiting her purse hit the bowl of peppermints by the door and it fell over. The owner chased her out to her car and wrote down her license plate and then called the cops. While me and 3 of my friends were talking, he came over and started writing down other number of license plates...none of which belonged to any of us. He then said we were no longer welcome back to the Hideaway. The only thing I can say about this place is....the food is great, but if you have issues you wont get the "customer is always right" attitude. Instead you will be berated and treated like your money doesnt mean anything. Im so sad by this....I really enjoyed going there.

Hideaway is really somewhat of a hideaway as its in big gravel lot and the place doesnt even look like a bar. I recently came here with a few friends for the Tuesday steak night and celebrating a welcome home party for a friend. I always heard good things about their steak as for $12, not only you get a good piece of steak but also a potato and a small side salad. When you order the steak here, they will give you a check list for you to fill out how you want your steak cook, how much toppings for your potato, and what dressing would you like for your salad. Then when they bring the steak out, the food runner will call out your name. Now I do have a small issue is that the steak was a bit too salty. Maybe because they want you to buy more beer to wash down the saltiness taste but otherwise it was very good. The drinks is your usual bottles of domestics and the taps are actually imports or craft beers. The price is fair and the crowd is definitely a mixed crowd for a Tuesday night. Over all my friends and I had a great time and good dinner. Theres also a cool back patio for people who wants to bring their pet with you. I would definitely come back here again sometime in the future.

Houston has a lot of bars that offer steak night specials; and in my opinion, The Hideaway at Dunvale offers the best one out of all of them (granted I havent tried them all). Every Tuesday and Saturday, they offer 1-lb ribeye, salad, and a fully loaded baked potato for $12. Its really a great value for the money, and they make the best tasting ribeye for the money as well. Every Wednesday they do burger and pint night. $9 gets you a burger and a pint of beer, and you get to keep the glass. Sweet! On Tuesdays, theres an Asian blues singer/guitar player that perform live starting around 9:30 pm and is a great performer. Come check him out. The service here is meh if youre not sitting at the bar, but thats kind of expected anyway. Come here for the food, not for the service.

This is an interesting little place. Ive known about it for years, but never ever made it in mostly due to location. Im not a big fan of Dunvale. My brother and I stopped in here for lunch the other day. Hes a beer distributor and I work over in Piney Point; so, this was perfect. Service is to the point, but I imagine thats they draw a pretty good size lunch group. Its definitely dimly lit and you can tell its a guys place as I was the only female there. There are dollar bills and bumper stickers adorning every surface of the old disheveled building, yet, it still feels like a place that you want to be. I hear they have all you can eat crawfish on Sundays for $30 and will have to try that out pretty soon.

This place seems decent enough. It was rather empty on the Friday night I dropped in and sadly no great specials (I was there from 6-8pm). Its quiet for a bar, but Im okay with that. Kind of dark inside, but theres a patio outside if you like that. Parking was easy, so thats a park. Seems like a pretty typical neighborhood bar where you can also grab a decent meal. I had planned to try their food, but it didnt happen since I had to meet up with some people elsewhere. The service was good, and the guy game around regularly to ask about drinks. While Im not rushing to go back, Id give it another try, maybe hit up the steak night that other people seem to be so impressed with.
