After a very costly trip to Spanish Flower, I feel that I have to warn as many people as possible. I went there late one night after going out with friends. We had been there before several times, but only because its open late and its different than the usual 24 hour greasy spoons. I had the huevos & chorizo (eggs & sausage for the Spanish speaking impaired). I didnt finish the food and wanted to take some tortillas with my to go food. They said that Id have to pay extra for a couple of tortillas (which they were VERY stingy with to begin with...6 tortillas for 4 people at the table eating food that you normally eat with tortillas). I thought that the extra charge for the tortillas was going to be the worst that Id have to pay. I was wrong. I wound up at the emergency room the next evening after not being able to eat all day because I felt pretty horrible. The ER doctor told me that I had salmonella poisoning and the only food that I had eaten was from Spanish Flower the night before. So, $1,000 later because I was vomiting so violently that I had torn open the inside of my throat and was coughing up alot of blood and had to take a trip to the ER, Ive decided that there is no way that I will subject myself to this food again. Be very wary of this place. Unless you enjoy hours of regurgitation followed by a huge hospital bill.

The place is over-priced simply because the quality of the food is mediocre. On the last visit, we waited an hour and 30 minutes until we finally got our food. We would have left earlier but the waitress guilt tripped us into staying the extra 40 minutes because our food was being made. I mean if you know you are behind, at least let us know that there is a wait from the beginning. Do not keep us waiting and then try your best to keep us there. I was more upset by her keeping us there, versus letting us pay for our sodas and leaving. It is our right as a customer to decide whether or not we should stay and it, especially when we have become uncomfortable. The Teotihuacan restaurant a block away on airline is definitely better in price and quality.

This place was awesome in the 1990s. I still went regularly until they stopped serving the Crab Cake Salad. I just went with friends and could not believe what happened! $13.00 for 2 barbacoa tacos?!? ARE YOU SERIOUS!? WHO PAYS THAT? A bunch of people who obviously has too much money. Never in my life have I paid $13.00 for 2 tacos. Stupid, ignorant people paying this amount are pathetic! You can get 3 lbs of barbacoa, tortillas, and all the trimmings PLUS 2 coffees for 12.99 on weekends at different places. Spanish Flowers thinks they are all uppity but still in that dirty little area right there. Heck, El Tiempo isnt even that expensive! Good riddance Spanish Flowers. Greedy. Shame on you!

This is my 3rd time with a bad experience. Spanish Flower is under new ownership. Their food is ok. But their service stinks. I just waited 25 minutes for a enchilada dinner. They said they were short staffed and had two big parties. I was there before the parties and placed my order. Too many mexican food restaurants in the area. Better get with it. I will not refer anyone to them anymore. I have been coming here for over 20 years. Never been this bad... I wasnt even going to give them 1 star but it wouldnt let me post anything. Poor excuses for terrible service. Makes the food not worth it. Waiter came to the table with a zit on his nose that needed bathroom attention. Ridiculous.

Ive been coming here for years with my family, we know the owner and theyve always had great service and food here, although its not as good as it used to be, but I guess thats the price you pay with expanding. Before it was such as large restaurant they would give you vegetable soup before and fruit after your meal. Now they stopped giving fruit and most of the time you get the tortilla soup instead, which is still good. My favorite is the potato and egg plate with bacon and cheese, I order it no matter what time of day it is. Their flour tortillas, caldo de res, and fresh lemonade also cannot be beat and are made fresh all day.

I used to come here 2 or 3 times a week. Last time I came to Spanish flower was about a year ago, with some family and friends, service sucked food sucked. To top it off they were charging me incorrectly. We visited them sometime last week at another friends request, and it has done a complete turn in both service and food. If it wasnt our waiter coming to check on us, someone else was. We got refills on our drinks before food arrive (not the case before), food arrived in a timely manner, hot and correct. We were looking for a new place to eat late, and I think we found Spanish flower again.

I previously had a review stating that there was an issue with getting charged double and dealing with a rude staff. However, soon after, their management reached out to me to make things right. They really came through and delivered some great meals and service. Them reaching out and wanting to make things right really meant a good deal and shows that they care about their image, food and patrons. Thanks to their management and staff for taking care of us, we will definitely be back. I recommend their queso flameado, fajitas, and enchiladas. Grab yourself a margarita if youre in the mood, as well!

While not a huge fan of their food, (its perfectly fine, just that this is not the Mexican restaurant I typically visit), their flour tortillas are spectacular. When we have parties, and I am not in the mood to make them from scratch, I will pop over to pick up several dozen, hot off the machine. They are delicious. When I do eat here I typically stay with the salad-y offerings....tacos, chalupas, guacamole, etc. I personally find their enchiladas, tamales, beans, rice, etc. to be too salty and heavy handed for my taste, preferring Fiesta Loma Linda on Telephone or Molinas on Washington.

We used to come here a minimum of once per week. The ownership changed a few years ago, and things have been declining ever since. The atmosphere used to be warm and inviting and the food fresh and delicious. The prices have increased, they no longer walk around with a tortilla basket, and the service is worse (it was never a high point). The food is still good, but portions are smaller. Overall, now it is overpriced for what it is. My family never goes anymore, sadly. We miss the old Spanish flowers.

OMG!!! I had a HAIR IN MY FOOD. I kindly whispered to the RUDE MEXICAN waitress not to scare other customers and she looked at me like i was crazy. Then she tells me if i want something else. I said ok AND THEY CHARGE ME FOR THE FOOD!!!! I WILL NEVER GO BACK AFTER BEING A Customer of 15yrs. I work in PR and take many of clients since they are open late. I will not take anyone back to this place. SOMEONE PLEASE RECOMMEND A NEW RESTAURANT TO ME FOR LATE NIGHT BITES? THANKS MEL
