The only reason why I gave them 2 stars is because their cakes and bread were delicious but other than that, their customer service surely needs some IMPROVING. 2 out of the 3 employees behind the bakery counter were polite but very slow with attending me and my sister. i was surprised it wasnt packed as it normally would be, given that it was on Mothers day. We were looking at the cake section when one lady stood by us in order to help us. My sister asked her questions about a certain cake so I took it upon myself to look over the sweet breads and cookies in order to get more things to eat along with the cake. After my sister chose a certain cake, the lady that attended us disappeared to the back after we let her know which one we wanted. The other lady asked us what other things did we want, so we began to choose our goodies. My sister let her know we were also going to be taking a cake (because apparently the other lady never returned). This lady kept looking over at the cake section, so my sister went to point out which one it was, so I took it upon myself to take the bags she put our cookies and bread in and walked to the the register where another customer was waiting to get check out. As I patiently waited, another lady appeared to check out the customer, (VERY SLOWLY) and when it was my turn, she never ONCE looked up at me, she kept eyeing the previous customer until they sat down with their family. Completely ignoring me, she slowly took my bags and I let her know I was also going to purchase the cake the other lady was packing. Again, she kept her eye on the previous customer, I had to pat the counter table a few times so she can snap out of it. I believe she was trying to see if the customer took more than what she paid for, but when she had another customer to take care of you would think she can at least look friendly while trying to take care of me. FINALLY she took my credit card and turned around to swipe my card on their machine, THEN a phone call came in for her. She completely IGNORED my transaction and slowly walked to the girl holding the phone and took away and began to talk to the person. By this point, I was IMPATIENTLY FURIOUS, my sister came to the register and asked me what was wrong and what was the hold up, so I purposely pointed to the lady and said that she has been acting this way the entire time that I was trying to purchase everything! She finally came back with my receipt to sign, (STILL TALKING ON THE PHONE), and rushed my signature. I looked at her and guess where eyes were, GLUED TO THE PREVIOUS CUSTOMER AND HER TABLE! And to think I was gonna wish her a happy mothers day, I most likely still would have been ignored :/ IMPROVE YOUR SERVICE! FYI, IM HISPANIC AND I LIVE CLOSE BY THIS BAKERY, I TAKE MUCH PRIDE TO THESE LITTLE HEAVEN ON EARTH BAKERIES, BUT THIS CERTAIN TIME, I WAS SO DISAPPOINTED!

Ready for the bomb diggity of all sweet bread (pan dulce)? Come on down to Lawndale, and come early for the freshest explosion of amaze balls in your mouth. This place is not around the corner from where I live, but its worth the 25 minute drive. My family and I try to go a couple of times a month (usually on Saturday mornings), and we load up! The prices are low, we can drop a $20, and walk out with three bags full of conchas, empanadas, and puerquitos that will nearly melt in your mouth! Also, our ultimate favorite is the marble cake...seriously, THE BEST EVER. Do yourself a favor and dig this place!

Ive been purchasing cakes from La Victoria for about 8 years now and Ive never been disappointed. I still remember the first cake Rosie did for my daughters first birthday, it was just beautiful! Ive ordered most of my special occassion cakes from La Victoria, and every time my guests say.. "did you order from that place that makes beautiful cakes again?" The most recent cake I had made was this past Saturday for my daughters First Communion and it turned out so beautiful and it was just delicious. Looking forward to ordering my daughters 5th birthday cake! :)

The food is incredible and the staff is nice but too slow. Sometimes I order by phone since I only have 30 min lunch and when I get there the order was not given to the cooks. So there goes 10 minutes. Just an advice I think the kitchen should have a phone were they can take orders instead of waiting for the cashier to finish the line of customers and then like 10 minutes later she turns in the order. Come on....common sense.

This as close to "Mexican Grandmas" home cooking as you will get, go for the food, not for service. The food is excellent, best menudo in town, the bread is fresh and tortillas are soft. If you want wait service such as Le Peep or Picos, then go there. Go to La Victoria for one of the best home-cooked taste meals you can buy.

Ive been going to this bakery for over 20 years. The sweet bread is the best Ive ever had. But I have to agree with the rest of the reviewers, the wait for food is REDICULOUS and over priced. Dont come for the breakfast; come for the best sweet bread in Houston!

Great food.. poor service :( I love love love the tacos and adore the baked goods, but the service is similair to the "Soup Nazi" episode (for those of you who are familiar with Seinfeld).. sweet bread and other baked goods are WAY over priced.

Best pan dulce in town and the prices are reasonable for the value. Check them out, ask for the huevos rancheros with the salsa on the side. Its the bomb!

We ordered two plates for breakfast and did not get our food until over 45 minutes later. We would have left but had paid before receiving our order.
