Background: I went here with a group of 6 friends for dinner. Atmosphere: You can’t miss the fact that the restaurant is Jamaican. The decorations are Jamaican, the walls are painted the colors of the flag, the waiters were all Jamaican, and reggae music was playing in the background. Food: The food left something to be desired. The chicken was rubbery, the rice was under-cooked, and it wasnt very flavorful. The vegetarian pasta was the only saving grace, but even that was not spectacular. Not pointing fingers, but three of us also felt ill the next morning. Service: Slooooow. It took 20 minutes for the waiter to even visit our table, the food took over an hour to come out, and we couldnt find the waiter to get our check. The restaurant wasnt busy, so I’m not sure what was going on. A meal we thought would last less than an hour took almost three. Overall: If they keep up this level of service and product, I anticipate that the sizzler will soon be sizzling out. The food was bad, the service was slow, and the waiter inattentive.

First visit. I came to grab lunch. Few customers inside, was a nice atmosphere and I was greeted with a welcoming smile. They were playing my jam by Chaka Demus & The Pliers "Murder She Wrote". Ordered curry chicken, beef patty and pineapple ginger juice. My food came out quick and hot. The curry chicken was soooo tender and would have been perfect except it was waaaaaay too salty. The veggies and rice &peas were good and the plaintains made me sing. The beef patty was awesome. I will definitely be back often to try the rest of the menu and enjoy happy hour.

My girlfriend and I were in Houston for an interview and came to this establishment based off of reviews from yelp.We had to stand around awkwardly for a few minutes before we were even acknowledged after we walked in. We were then told to seat ourselves and they would bring us menus. We waited for over 20 minutes without even getting a menu or acknowledged again. However all darker toned patrons were seated immediately and given menus. I am not sure if it was a race issue or just terrible service but we decided to leave and go somewhere else.

This was my first time here and I LOVEEDD it! To start off, the staff was very friendly and helpful even with ordering. The music was very entertaining also. The food was GREAT! Not spicy enough for my liking, but tasty none the less. I didnt get a chance to try their drinks but Im definitely looking forward to coming back for a Rum Punch or another fun drink being that they have the Appleton Jamaican Rum!! Ive found it hard to find that rum since my Carribean cruise, so I cant wait!

Was in search of a new Jamaican/Caribbean spot.... since Fusions demise, I have NEVER found a Jerk Wing worthy of the title ....Until now, Island Sizzlers Wings are the Very Best!! Also tried the Curry Goat __ slightly gamey, yet spicy, it was a great combination with the Peas and Rice...vegetables _ needed a little help ( had a taste of frozen-ness to them & salt could have helped). Portion sizes more than enough food for two...Will try this place again...probably for Happy Hour!!

Tried to call in my order but no one would answer the phone. Arrived at the location and stood at the register for 15 minutes before anyone would even acknowledge me to take my order. Staff walked past me as if I was invisible...wait service was not very welcoming or friendly. No matter how good the food may be, I will not return. Poor customer service! What a shame....seems like a great spot. Good customer service goes a long way, in the restaurant business.

Dont eat HERE!! POOR SERVICE... UNORGANIZED... NOT CLEAN... THIS PLACE WILL NOT BE OPENED FOR NOT TO LONG... GO TO reggae Hut if want some Jamaica food.... They tell you 10 min and ends up 30min...why not tell the truth... This time it took an hour for my simple order... I wish I could post the pic of the amount of food they bought out... To me the health inspection needs to be done again... Some one send an inspector here...

I kinda wish they had a sign right when you walk on to seat yourself because I did notice some patrons that walked in were a bit confused on how the seating and ordering process worked if its their first time in. Also the food is reasonably priced as well. Service was extremely slow I suggest placing your order and requesting your check at the same time because it took like 30 min to get mine on all three times I went.

Found this place using Google maps. I was excited to try the food. I was a bit put off by the smell walking in, I dont know if the toilets were backed up or if it always smells that way. The food was great and our winter was polite and helpful making recommendations on both food and drink. I was not able to sample the rums, but will come back to try more food.

O...MG my Husband & I fell in love with this place (& were picky)! Their jerk chicken & curry shrimp were THE TRUTH! Im not sure what was going on for those who gave bad reviews :-/ but they have great prices, serve great portions of food & great customer service! This will definitely be our go-to spot whenever were on the Southwest side & want Jamaican food.

This place is awesome!! We happened to find it when I got off the metro early and walked until I found a place for dinner. My husband (who usually picks me up at the end of the train), came and met me. We enjoyed the peas n rice, beef batty and oxtail stew. The rum punch was amazing. Highly recommend this place!!

Ive been going here since they opened, the food is pretty good honestly since Houston doesnt have much to offer when it comes to Caribbean food this place has to come in front BUT service has been on the major decline, you have to seat urself and can be waiting on the waitress to address u for forever smh

The food taste really good. Unfortunately my waiter was slow and forgetful. He might have been high (white server), at least thats what my gf thought. Their food is heavily spiced, but not hot. Their festival bread tasted like a bigne and their coco bread tasted like a dinner roll.

Just tried this spot for lunch and it was okay!! The Good: loved the the seasoning of the goat, a lot of spice but not over powering, the steamed veggie were good too. The Bad: I love roti and their roti was well below average the rice and peas were not seasoned.

This place was literally my go to happy hour spot after work 2-3 days a week. Their happy hour menu is a good selection and the prices are hard to beat. The chicken and beef patties and the jerk chicken....man! Dont sleep on this place.
