I really want to like this place. Why? Because the people working there was really nice and down to earth. They were extremely patient with me and wanted me to like their ice cream flavor. This place is not my cup of tea. I really wanted to try the pistachio soft-serve ice cream, but the machine was broken. They tried to fix it, but unable to until the next day. Their flavors kind of taste all the same because my friend inform me that they use buttermilk and that tends to be a bit overbearing. If you are into weird, adventous flavors. This place is for you. They have Dark Chocolate Stout (I dislike Dark Chocolate and beer), Winterberry (Tart, but fresh from the usage of fresh fruit), Meyor Lemon Vanilla, Chai Tea Latte Coconut (Chai Tea and Coconut ratio is off and more favorable to coconut), Mexican Vanilla (this is the most horrendous vanilla I have ever tried, the aftertaste was a how a dirty alley-way should taste if you were high and lick the floor), Birthday cake (taste like cheesecake) Their old fashion soda was actually decent. I had the chinese 5 spice? Its refreshing and taste ginger ale with orange...thats probably why I liked it. Their shirley temple was made with pomegranate juice? I overhead the employee talking about it, but I am unsure. Yeah..., but no. I just liked the chinese 5 so I wont be back unfortunately.

I had tried some of the flavors at my office prior to visiting when somebody brought take-out containers in. I thought the salted caramel was a little strange, I was excited because I usually LOVE all things salted caramel. I was looking forward to finally visiting the shop this last weekend after I read a good review in the Houston Press. My boyfriend and I could not decide what to get so we decided on a 3-scoop waffle cone. We chose the strawberry, vanilla, and chocolate, classics. Starting with the vanilla, I was not a fan. Next came the strawberry, not a fan (it has gin in it, and i LOVE gin), last was the chocolate, it was the best and I usually do not like chocolate items. None of the flavors were creamy like an Ice Cream should be, they were rather grainy and more like a sorbet. The best part of the treat was the waffle cone. To top off the completely unsatisfying ice cream, it was way too expensive. I will not be returning.

This is probably some of the best ice cream youll have in Houston. Ive been there three times since it opened and each time I drive away and begin to eat my ice cream, I start to regret not getting more. And usually I havent even made it out of the parking lot when the regret hits me... Like Im two bites in and Im like "Man, this is going to be gone in like 14 spoonfuls and Im gonna need more…" Its THAT good. I usually get double salted caramel and its hard to describe how good it is, but Ill tell you - youll be really, really sad when its gone. And youll think - I should go back…and then youll think that would be silly, because you just left, and youre an adult, adults dont do that - it doest make any sense, you cant go back. What are you, five? What will people say?…but youll go back. Maybe not right away, but youll go back. Because its amazing. Its seriously, seriously good. So Ill be making this a regular stop.

The first time I had Fat Cat Creamery is when they were at local craft fair at the Winter Street Studio. I was able to have one of their push pops which brought back memories of eating a certain cave man cartoon character push pop ice cream way back when. I am very glad that they have a permanent shop, although small, but its a good thing as I dont need to try and catch them at the next event. So far I have tried various rotating flavors along with their usual flavors such as the Mexican vanilla, milk chocolate stout, and strawberry buttermilk. These classic vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry flavors are out of ordinary as they enhanced and brought out whats best about the flavor and bring it up a notch. Also, for those who are lactose intolerant, there are rotating dairy free flavors for you to choose from as well, so dont feel left out if your friends drag you here and thinking you will just watch them eat.

Yum. Thats all. Okay fine, Ill tell you more. Fat Cat is a must-try for ice cream aficionados everywhere. The flavors are so unique and you can tell the ingredients are so fresh given the sheer deliciousness. My flavor choice was the salted almond swirl in a brown butter brown sugar waffle cone. Seriously, the best waffle cone I have ever had! The goodness inside wasnt too shabby either. In fact, it wasnt shabby at all! The perfect balance of salty and sweet. Its a temporary flavor, so go soon if you want to try it! My fiance got the Cats Meow Mexican Vanilla which is one of their staple flavors. It was so simple yet so tasty - a surefire winner! The quality of the ingredients and certainly the care taken to make the ice cream is definitely reflected in the price, so be prepared to pay more than your average cone. I think its worth it though!

Recommend? Yes Atmosphere is friendly, relaxing, light-hearted. Lots of fat cat decor, good amount of seating for small groups. I ordered Malted chocolate brownie and Cats meow Mexican vanilla for $4.50. I hope the chocolate doesnt taste fake and the vanilla isnt cruddy. UPDATE: Both had good initial tastes, but a little funky after tastes. Maybe water will remove that. Vanilla had a weird clay taste, but the chocolate was great! Service is attentive, clean, quick, friendly. Bit of a long line, but seems like a hopping spot. Servers are moving the line quickly. I came here 05/30/2016, around 04:00 PM.

Fat Cat, weird name for an ice cream shop but come inside and give it a try. Fat Cat ice cream is homemade along with the waffle cones. They have about 8 flavors or so and each one is unique. From Mexican Vanilla to Coffee and Cream youre sure to find just your taste. I always go for their coffee and cream but I have had their salted butter caramel before. Just make sure to try it before you order it. They have outdoor seating and indoor seating and they not only have ice cream but also milkshakes which I have yet to try. Its a small, mom and pop shop and you feel right at home when youre there.

You will likely be welcomed by the scent of brown sugar waffle cones being prepared, which will likely impair your decision making skills as you will want to buy the whole store. The first taste I had of Fat Cat was through the Mexian Chocolate Push Pop and boy was that a surprise. Rich chocolate with sprinkles of cinnamon and cayenne pepper, it’s the Mexican Hot Chocolate my imaginary abuelita makes for me on a cold winter’s night. Although noteworthy is their Earl Grey soft serve. Get it if you like breakfast tea for dessert. Don’t forget about the brown sugar waffle cones!

Stopped in and got the thai tea/cream milk soft serve swirl. IT IS DELICIOUS. Great texture, the thai tea tastes just like the drink too. But the best part was this: They know that cones always drip, so they offered to put graham cracker bits at the bottom of the cone so it wouldnt leak out! Freaking smart! And the cone tastes like maple home made awesomeness. This is by far every dessert lovers MUST HAVE regular spot. Also since its fall they have a pumpkin cheesecake flavor to die for. I also enjoy their unicorn sugar cookies, everything they make is just so perfect!
