The "Chinese" food is about the same or worse than youll find at your malls Panda Express or XYZ strip mall. What this means is that youll have your usual selection of over Americanized fried rice, Sysco egg rolls, and wonton soup. I did not try the sushi. The ambiance is pretty fantastic. If I ignored the food that was insulting my mouth, I could think that I was in Shanghai on the Bund or in Beijings Legation Quarter. The service was equally excellent. My review is based off of going for lunch but theyre dinner menu didnt look that much better. I think its truly a shame that they do not serve a menu that is on par with their decor and service. I am confident that the clientele living in and around River Oaks are sophisticated and cosmopolitan enough to identify and enjoy good Chinese food if it were available. Cafe Ginger is a great place to order L16 in a nice environment. But if you want good food and good surroundings, head elsewhere--I recommend Fungs Kitchen off of Bellaire and 59.

Have been coming here since it was Cafe Le Jadeite, and continue to love it. The lunch specials cant be beat (the lunch crowd agrees), and when you have an attentive server (90% of the time) the service is extremely quick. Have only had Sushi here once on a whim and it was... good. Thats to say with so many unique Sushi choices here in Houston there was nothing special about it, though it was fresh and did satisfy. One caveat is the delivery. While reasonably prompt and always thorough, something is definitely "lost in translation." The 2 dishes I religiously order (Beef w/fresh pepper, and Shredded Pork w/ Bamboo) seem to be made COMPLETELY differently when ordered for delivery. Overall would enthusiastically recommend, especially the Lunch Service.

Well, I have to say I was disappointed with my first visit to Café Ginger. I ordered the General Tsos Chicken for dinner. I was startled when it arrived at my table a scant 4 mins. later. Indicating that the chicken "nuggets" were already cooked, sitting under a warmer and waiting to be smothered in the spicy sauce. Not a whole lot of culinary artistry there. They tasted about the same as the Trader Joes frozen version Ive made at home. Plus, nothing came with the entree except a small bowl of rice. Couldnt you throw a little broccoli on the side or something? The dining atmosphere is lovely and the waitstaff are professional and courteous. Just not much bang for the buck. Unfortunately, my first visit is my last.

Cafe Ginger is a little pricier than most Americanized Chinese restaurants, but for good reason. To begin, the food is fantastic. Its one of the few places Ive ever been served white chicken and at Ginger, its breast meat. Every dish also comes with sauteed vegetables that are fresh and cooked to the perfect al dente. Yummy! Also, if youre up for it, they serve sushi, too! The service is also spot on. A server is at your table within moments of being seated, beverages are always refilled before you reach the 1/2 full mark, and plates are cleared promptly. Its amazing, really. If you need a lunch spot where you know you can get in, out and back to the office in an hour, heres your place!

We came two for lunch. The food is conservative, classical Chinese dishes, nothing original or unique. BUT, every single vegetable is fresh and of high quality, the meat is tasty and all the dishes we had where the best of their kind weve ever had. The service is impeccable, the server has precise knowledge of every single ingredient in any dish, which is critical for people with allergies or religious limitations. They are willing to remove or change any ingredient in any dish, and if this doesnt make culinary sense they will say that to you. All in all, an A+ grade experience.

Tried this place for the first time about 6 months ago. I have been back twice since then and have enjoyed everything I have tried there. The service was as good or better than most restaurants I have dined in. I am going back soon. Have had the sushi, snapper, sushimi - all good and fresh. Great atmosphere and not loud at all. I like a place where I can have a conversation without raising my voice.

I have hear many say great things about this place, however; I was not impressed. I had the General Tsos Chicken and it was average at best. They did do a great job on the delivery and made it easy for multiple people to pay. I have been inside too and the place is nice. I will try it again just in case I got an off day.

My favorite Sushi/Chinese Restaurant in Midtown. Whether you are dining in, having a delivery made, or just going to enjoy the daily Happy Hour, the food is always fresh and consistently great. Ive eaten at all the Chinese restaurants in this part of town and Café Ginger stands head and shoulders above the rest.

Went for an early dinner this last Saturday. We chose this place because there was no wait. We enjoyed the tuna tower, Cajun roll and an Oscar roll. All tasted very fresh and came out quickly for how busy the restaurant was.

They have great food! The Garlic Chicken is my favorite as well as the steamed pork dumplings. They also offer online ordering on their website and deliver within a 4 mile radius in case you dont want to go to the restaurant.

Tried several appetizers with entree. Sorry I wasnt impressed. Semi distant service. Way over priced for the quality of food....I believe sincerely in paying for quality.....they just do not have it here.

Everything you eat here will be great! The service & ambiance will also be great. No matter when I visit, whether lunch, dinner or take-out the food is always great. And the reasonable prices are a plus!

The most blan General Tsos ever. The sauce had the consistency of runny soup instead of a sauce. The soup was very salty, but the people are extremely nice.

Came here with friends for our NYE dinner. The meals were great and we were given a complimentary bottle of champagne. Definitely coming back here again.

Great food, delivery is usually very fast too. I really like their Mongolian beef, the meat is more tender than other Asian delivery places around here.

Very nice interior with a large Chinese menu. Service was also good, prompt and polite. Food was decent, but probably not the best Chinese Ive had.

Extremely good on service. Sushi is average. Did not eat chinese food. It looks like an upscale chinese. The place is busy.

I was there for an hour before I was served. My friend was done with his meal before I got mine. Worst service in town.
