So RJs was one of my favorite places to eat. Their tilapia margarita is to die for! However, my low review is because of my last experience there. I was with my boyfriend and we had lunch on the patio. When we were on the way home, I noticed I forgot my purse (we live a few minutes away) so I immediately called and talked to my server. He said he didnt see anything. So I checked my wallets GPS on my phone and saw it was still in the location. So I actually drove up there and talked with my server and the man who cleaned the table. They said they didnt see anything, but I was more than welcome to check. I checked, because its a smaller black purse that can blend it, but I didnt see it. So after I left I called the manager to see if he could keep a look out for my purse. He said he would check. I was on hold on 10 minutes. He came back and said he didnt find it. So I just assumed it was a lost cause. Anyone could have it. So I ended up reporting my purse at stolen, canceled my cards, reported my license to the DMV. On The next morning I got a call from the manager saying they had the purse in the safe. So I head up there a little irritated because this was an inconvenience, especially since Ive told them from the start my purse was there. The manager at the time explained that a different manager was working, and hes the only one with safe combo. So thats why it wasnt found yesterday. I wasnt here to point fingers because I was the one who left the purse. However, their explanation about who found the purse and when it was turned in didnt make sense. The manager said that a nice old lady turned it in, however, he previously said he didnt know when or who turned it in because he was at a different location. And I literally went back 10 minutes after I left, and no one (including my purse) was on the patio. Before this situation I was a loyal customer to this restaurant. However, I will NEVER recommend this place to anyone again.

Unique Salsa w avocado pieces in it - good slight twist to the usual but like the usual if you know what I mean. So I would say great chips n salsa (defines Mexican restaurants to me). Ordered Steak Fajitas just now - will let you know if I liked. Alright, Im back and they were rockin! The steak was marinated, thin cut, black strips but medium rare just as I ordered. The veggies were fresh and cooked just right - you can tell theyve got a real Chef back there cooking that cares about every detail of your meal. Flour or wheat Tortillas were small like street tacos but they give you 5 and they actually work out better so you dont have half falling out:) Service (by Josh) was superb - Johnny on the spot with Managers watching to make sure alls well. Atmosphere was also sweet - indoor and outdoor (w nice views of dowtown Dallas largest buildings). A must taste Mexican place in Dallas historic West End!

When we requested a take home box before my mothers dish was served the waitress should have taken the food back and placed it in a to-go container. This did not happen. Instead, the food was placed at the table and the waitress said it was their policy not to take food back to the kitchen. At this point the host got involved and began asking what the issue was. When it was explained he brought containers to put the food in. However he was not wearing any gloves to handle food. Nor did it appear that he had eashed his hands within the one hour that we had arrived at the restaurant. Why is this important? Because when the host was putting my mothers untouched food into a container he flipped it over and then with his bare hands tried to put it back together correctly inside the container. I dont know if this was legal...but it was definitely unsanitary. Never again will this place get my business.

I got to say, worse mexican restaurant ever, I work downtown and this place is a stone throw from where I work, I decided to give it a try...Going in, the host was on the phone, and I could tell it was not business. the host look up at us and just continued chatting on the phone....so needless to say we waited in front of the host to get a table...which the place had plenty of empty tables...5 minutes later and after the host solidified his plans for the night we got a table...which i knew we should of just left...anyway the server was probably the best thing about this place....she was attentive unlike the rest of the staff...the food was just horrid....all the mexican food here had this Sweet overtone like they sprinkled sugar on everything it was gross, salsa .pace picante is better.....will not be back. try pepe mitos, or avilas and save your money for good food.

We arrived early for our reservation and were seated outside. The waiter wanted us to order appetizers immediately but we wanted to have a drink first, so we ordered those and water. 15 minutes later, we had neither. Finally the drinks (but no water) came, and my drink was wrong. Another 10 minutes went by and we were again asked to order food. Finally my drink came, and by then my husband ordered a refill. Another 10 minutes passed. We had a coupon for a free appetizer so we ordered that, but eventually we left and were charged for it because we didnt eat - we didnt know how long that would take! The waiter blamed the delay on the new bartender, the hostess said they were short help, and the manager merely stammered and said "sorry". The lighting inside is far too bright, and the margaritas were mostly ice. Well never go back.

Second time Ive been here and it was disappointing each time. Both times our food was brought out in stages, with some people receiving their food a full 10 mins before others. This resulted in people with full plates waiting for the rest of everyones food to arrive. At the end of each meal the waiter proceeded to bus the entire table while we sat waiting for our checks. Only after everything had been removed were we given the checks, which resulted in even more waiting while everyones payment was processed. I understand getting plates out of the way as the meal goes along, but to clear the entire table while everyone is waiting to pay is a bit much. Both times Ive visited I was served by the same waiter so its possible all these problems are just a result of how he works. Other than that the food is just okay..

My girlfriend and I visited RJs for the first time on NYE and it was amazing!! We waited for the other couple we were dining with and Im pretty sure I went through a couple bowls of salsa and chips myself because it was so good. Perfectly flavored and spicy. Our server Michael was phenomenal and even gave us his little NYE party hat. The owner came by and introduced himself and ensured everything was to our satisfaction, which it was. We got trio fajitas that were out of this world tasty and had plenty to take home! Overall this was a perfect first experience (especially when expectations are set so high for a holiday) and we will be visiting again soon for the food, service, and the atmosphere!! Thanks RJs!!!
