High marks on the ambiance however I would rate the service and quality of food as "pretty" poor. We were not provided sufficient silver wear and had to ask for table towels and silver wear a couple times. The staff at the restaurant appeared to have been overworked and tired. We ordered food (appetizer, main course and wine). The appetizers made it without serving plates. We were hungry so we started eating out of the serving bowls while waiting for the servers to get our plates which again took forever. The wine never made it…we started thinking maybe the restaurant was out of wine and had to go and get new stock. In fact our main course made it to the table even before our wine.. finally when we were ready to order dessert we were told the kitchen was closed. The food quality was not so great.. I ordered fried rice and it came somewhat cold and moreover the server brought ended up crowing up the table.. the time between appetizers and main course was too short and we had a full table trying to finish our dinner. I will confidently say that have eaten better Thai food in other places… Pretty disappointing dinner overall and I would rather go to the village burger place next door instead of going through such a experience again. Oh another thing- I read that they provide complimentary appetizer.. we were not given any..maybe its exclusive to some select folks or only on some days..dont know!

Beautiful space, but horrible lackluster, expensive food. My wifes scallops were rubbery and bland. The waitress said thats why sriracha is on the table. Wrong answer. My salmon was fair but the sauce didnt seem Thai or Vietnamese based. The combination of protein, veggies, and noodles or rice seemed haphazard and poorly executed on both plates. Moreover, the dishes were served borderline room temperature to cold. And we were the only table inside. The three or four tables outside on the patio were taking advantage of happy hour drinks and appetizers. The focus here seems to be on the bar and bar-type food for the 20-something set. My wife called the manager who seemed concerned, but we feel this place is so far gone, its beyond repair with the current management/staff. We will not be returning anytime soon if at all.

The food is excellent, besides my one bad shrimp and overcooked eggs, it really was delicious. Unfortunately that was the end of what should have been an excellent dinning experience. We wanted to sit on the air conditioned patio but were placed in the sun out of reach from the ac and fans. Do to the Texas morning sun it was simply too hot to sit where we were. This became quite the ordeal but about 20 minutes later we were finally moved indoors. The meal progressed smoothly from there and I enjoyed the Thai eggs Benedict but the star dish on our table was the pad Thai. Sadly when we asked for to go boxes the pad Thai was tossed out although the hot pot was boxed up, we really wanted the pad Thai leftovers. Id come back but I will be hopping for better and more attentive service. P.S. the bloody Marys are awesome.

After leaving our AirBnB, we inquired about good places in the West Village area to enjoy a nice brunch. Without hesitation, a resident of the apartment building recommended Malai Kitchen. She said, "Its crazy because its Thai, but definitely one of the best brunches in town." We LOVE Thai and decided to give it a try.... and WOW... so glad we listened to her! The coffee was a good indicator that we were in for a treat! We both enjoyed the Thai Eggs Benedict and it was tasty. The flavors on the dish were perfect (coconut biscuit, shrimp, basil), the hollandaise was nice and the poached eggs were cooked to perfection. I would highly recommend this place for brunch! The next time we visit Dallas, we will definitely swing through to try out dinner service!

My friends and i were walking down the road with somewhat hungry stomachs, saw the restaurant on the other side of the road and noticed how great it looks inside, but we were mostly interested to sit outside. after a bit of debating we decided to give it a shot. after going through those doors we had one of the best restaurant experiences ever. from their hostess at the door, to the food on the table, nothing couldve been better. do keep in mind that great food, and great restaurant experience do come with a price. so it might be a little too much for a everyday carryout. but it is a perfect example of how a place should be for a little get together, to a family dinner or so and so

Malai kitchen is a pretty cool asian restaurant. I am used to traditional style asian restaurants, so this was a definitely a different style. Lots of pretentious looking people here, but hey, its Uptown. Not too surprised. The food was really good. The sticky rice was a surprise. Quite tasty with the dipping sauce. Can you guess what it is made of? I had to try the Pho. I always like to taste and judge the Pho at various Vietnamese places. This one passed. This place added the bean sprouts for me, which rarely happens to me. And the large amount of green onions was surprisingly good. Great place, overall.

Great place for a quick lunch or dinner. Ive enjoyed this restaurant more and more after visiting several times. Their best dishes in my opinion would be the braised lamb shanks and the grilled salmon. The restaurant is kind of small, so not the greatest location for a large group. The restaurant has always been quite busy, but the service is quite prompt. Definitely worth checking out a few times to sample the various items offered on their menu. Feel free to read my other reviews for other great restaurants in the area

Malai Kitchen is the definition of consistency and quality. With a fairly compact menu, and well executed menu items, they are easily the best Asian food in uptown. If you enjoy Thai curry, or Pho soup, this place has you covered. They also brew their own beer on site, and will fill up a growler for you to take home. I love the pad kee mow, and their chicken coconut soup. High quality food, and a price lower than you would think for a restaurant in uptown. Highly recommended!

The staff was very friendly and attentive. I am only giving them 2 stars because of the quality of food. They had little vegetarian options and one of the only vegetarian substitute items on the menu (the spicy samosa) was definitely frozen. The outside was very hot but the mushy contents inside were cold and tasteless. For the price - $7 for three - I thought it was a ripoff. I expect fresh vegetables at the very least at that price. Very disappointing. Sadly, I will not return.
