Some of these reviews are simply ridiculous. I am a local and a proud regular of the Bake Shoppe and Cafe. For every one of the several bad reviews on this page, there are literally dozens of great reviews that dont get posted. You dont always hear the positive, but people sure are quick to post the negative. The Bake Shoppe is an incredible local restaurant with awesome food. Some regular favs... Sweet Connies Salad, Chicken Salad (sandwich or salad), Chicken and Dumplings. Specials when they have em... Chicken and Sausage Creole, Red Beans and Rice (as good as any anywhere). If its dessert you are looking for, well you can hardly go wrong with anything. They are famous for the giant Ding Dong and it even comes in a cake! Every meal comes with a fresh baked chocolate chip cookie (fantastic), the iced fudge brownies are unbelievable, pecan pie is fantastic, the list goes on and on. Anybody can have a bad day folks. I feel bad for the people that had bad experiences, because it really doesnt reflect properly on the restaurant. That being said, this is a small local business run by normal folks. If you are looking for the 5 start dining experience where you are waited on hand an foot, go to a 5 star restaurant! Food is excellent. Service is great, although they do get very busy, so expect some small delays in table service during peak times. But flag Toni down and she will serve you with a smile :-) As for self serve lemonade complaints... Hello? Really? I love getting my own drinks; I can fill up as often as I like. But tea is table served and they service it in huge glasses so refills for most normal folks are limited compared to the small glasses in other restaurants. Ignore the bad feedback on this page and treat yourself to a Bake Shoppe experience! I love this place. My wife and I eat here sometimes several times a week. If something isnt right, I tell em and they fix it (very uncommon). Good people, good food, casual atmosphere. Oh and as for the decor comments, come on people, give me a break. I dont decorate my home this way either but again, for everyone that seems to be really annoyed by it, there are dozens that love it. Get over it already. Bake Shoppe on my friends! Say hey to Melissa and Toni and tell em Shane sent ya!

This place is a joke. I was hesitant to come here because of the prices for lunch (if your lunch specials are over $10 and do not contain salmon, then youre doing it wrong), but a co-worker wanted to go for her birthday, so off we went. The young lady behind the counter couldnt pay attention as I was giving her my order, so I had to repeat it numerous times. She then proceeded to give me the wrong dessert as well. I ordered the half sandwich (turkey) with a cup of soup (broccoli cheese) and a cookie. It took longer than it should have to come out, and when it did, I was utterly shocked. There was hardly any meat to even be comparable to the size of the bread, and there was Kraft Singles-type cheese. Are you kidding?!?! The "cup" of soup was a joke as well. It comes in the tiniest mug you can imagine. However, it was really good. The cookie was chocolate chip and as hard as a rock. So was the dessert I picked out as well. It was a doozie-type cookie with frosting in the middle. It was a whipped frosting that had absolutely no flavor, and once again, the cookies were hard. The decor of the place looks like where pinterest whimsy comes to die. I kept waiting for the metal skeleton of a mattress to fall on our group. Its one thing to decorate, but another thing to shove every single last thing you found at an "antique" store in your restaurant. Im not knocking cowgirl gypsy whimsy, but too much of a good thing isnt necessarily a good thing. I want to go back for a bowl of soup, but I dont want to pay $6 for whats probably going to be the equivalent of what a cup of soup should be. 2 stars because the broccoli cheese soup was that good.

Do not visit this establishment if you are an individual with any shred of dignity or of any visible spectrum of color. I stood at the counter for five minutes without service when there were four people in the place including me and two of these "people" I assumed worked there, but mayber they use the term much more lightly than the average american. Two people can in after me and were served and seated before I was even greeted. Some middle aged woman nearly fell over herself to help these people. This place and the fro yo place in the same center act as though they arent quite sure what is going to take place when a person of color enters their est. Maybe if you offered some semblance of respectable customer service if wouldnt cause you to act like an imbecile. DO NOT VISIT THIS TACKILY OWNED, TACKILY DECORATED BAKE SHOP. GO TO KROGER, DOWNLOAD A RECIPE FROM PAULA DEEN, SAVE YOURSELF SOME MONEY. YOU WILL BE MUCH MORE SATISFIED.

While at first I had good experiences at this establishment, it has gone rapidly downhill over a number of times. I would thoroughly encourage against this bake shoppe due to the owners smug and rude carriage and attitude. He knows very little about customer service and thoroughly does not care. Neither do his employees. I make these remarks not on one incident, but on various. It certainly is tucked away in a cute setting, but customer service must come first. Attitude from employees of we dont care about you is enough to turn anyone away. These incidents have covered a number of months since I am prone to give others second and even third chances. Yet, the Bake Shoppe just does not get it. The owner was so outright rude to me with an I dont care about you attitude, that it was clear that he has a lot to learn about running a retail business. I cannot promote this business.

Full disclosure: 97% of my visits here have been for breakfast. I discovered The Bake Shoppe in 2013 and quickly fell in love with a good breakfast menu, for a higher-than-Cracker Barrel price, and a friendly staff. I believe in 2014 or 2015, new owners or managers took over. From that point on, the food wasnt as good (sloppily made/little attention to detail), the staff wasnt as friendly, and it wasnt a place made to feel welcomed anymore. After a long period of not going, I visited last weekend for breakfast. Not only was the food still just okay/meh and the staff withdrawn...they actually raised the prices of almost all their breakfast selections by at least $2. I rarely, if ever, see cars packed out front like I did in 2013/2014. Chances are, raising your already high prices isnt going to reel in new customers or keep old ones.

While I enjoy the food at the Bake Shoppe, the decor is awful and extremely unsafe for small children. My 3 year old daughter got out of her seat to use the restroom and hit her head on an old door propped up behind our table. She was left with a scratch and bruise on her face. Its very difficult to walk around the restaurant with all the junk or "decor" piled into the restaurant. Service is awkward especially when some drinks are brought to you while other drinks, such as lemonade and tea, are self served. Our waitress brought sodas to our table and then told us to get our own tea and lemonade. No big deal if I didnt have to endure a gauntlet obstacle course to get to the tea and lemonade. I really like to support local businesses, but the new owner has junked this restaurant out beyond a comfortable dining experience.
