The Castroville Cafe is a wonderful find not too far from San Antonio. Without a doubt, its the best restaurant in Castroville, and the food is better than a lot of the food in San Antonio. As far as aesthetics, its a really nice place, whether your sit inside or outside. The wife had a schnitzel sandwich that she really enjoyed; the pork cutlet on the sandwich was moist and delicious. The side salad was fresh and the dressing was delicious. The pork cutlet was delicious and moist. I had the Alsatian, the classic Reuben with corned beef, Swiss, sauerkraut, and 1000 Island dressing all on rye bread. It was delicious, one of the best Reubens Ive had, and a really great sandwich. I had the tomato basil soup along with it. Aside from being rich and creamy, its ones of the best tomato basil soups Ive had. We concluded with a slice of their homemade plain cheesecake. Now, for me, I was shocked. This was definitely one of the best two cheesecakes Ive had. It was phenomenal. In short, Castroville is a beautiful little cafe serving great food; its an unexpected fine, if Im honest. I look forward to trying more of the menu and especially more of the desserts.

This "cafe" is everything rolled into one----charming outdoor seating away from the building as well as tables on the porch. White table clothes, updated beautiful high ceilings with all the nuances of a small Texas town when I visited my grandmother as I grew up. Creaky wood floors that are authentic, etc. Just full of charm. Friendly staff and helpful. Menu has lots of variety with a twist of chef delight in every dish. You could order blind folded and love whatever they brought you. I will be returning for the 3rd time this week to take my husband for lunch there. You are never rushed, no matter how crowded. And they can turn over a room in nothing flat. Just go to enjoy yourself and get away from the traffic and hustle, bustle. Aside from the great food, there is shopping all around not far from this restaurant. Take a few hours and relax and stroll the area. Talented artists making beautiful pottery, as well as antique finds you will surely love. Park your car and walk to the stores from the cafe.

First time visit to this quaint comfortable restaurant and our party couldnt have been more pleased with the food. I ordered the quiche, tortilla soup, and carrot cake. Simple and seasoned to perfection! Excellent all around and I think everyone else in our group felt the same way. The food came out quick as a bonus. This is a MUST VISIT!.

Service was prompt and friendly. The chicken dumpling soup was flavorful, but i found the dumplings a little pasty. The chicken rueben sandwich was a bit unweildly being composed of small pieces of chicken breast instead of a single piece. However all this considered, I definetly be returning for another lunch. Prices were reasonable.

A good place to have a tasty lunch in this fun little town. Try the Fried Egg Sandwich and cobbler for dessert with soft serve ice cream. After lunch go a block over and across the street to check out the Gourmet foods and luscious wines at #TasteElevated. On Saturday they usually have products to taste if you arent too full after lunch.

We had a gourmet hamburger with slaw and a side of strawberry delight. The burger was excellent and the thick half pound pattie cooked to order. The meats flavor was perfect. The slaw has some interesting flavors and the strawberry delight was filled with a variety of additions we werent expecting. Perfect lunch!

Was recommended and we were not steered wrong! We are ready to go back now! Sit outside under the trees or on the porch and be served excellent food? Nothing wrong with that idea! Too hot? Sit inside and enjoy the a/c. The food is fresh and satisfying Staff is very engaging but not in your face.

Very nice people and excellent food. Also, shopping just a few steps away. When I went they didnt have a liquor license, which is fine with me because there is a nice wine store half a block away. They corked it with no fee, saved me a bundle. Steak was excellent. The house salad was very good.

Food and service excellent, prices reasonable, easy parking, and bring your own wine, perfect. Everyone was friendly and seemed to assist all tables instead of relying on just one server per table, though we particularly appreciated Williams attention to our needs. Highly recommend.

Service was friendly and prompt especially since it was busy and I was seated in the outdoor area. Food was tasty and well prepared. Will visit again and strongly encourage others to do so if you are in the area.

The meatloaf was delicious. Ample portions and quick service. Indoor dinning maybe a premium in this Texas heat. However the shades were generously provided by the majestic oaks :)

The club sandwich and potato salad were great, but the peach cobbler was incredible. Service was a bit slow, but the place was very busy due to the lunchtime rush.

My food was a little over cooked. Great setting under the big pecan trees on a nice sunny day. The lemonade was spot on
