Had lunch here, NOT impressed! Ot was our FIRST time eating here, and our LAST. Staff were very nice, but service was very slow. It was not very busy either, there was only 6 or 7 tables including us and at least 3 servers that we saw, so there was no reason for things to take so long. Meals took a long time to come out too, about 35 minutes, so we fully expected the food to be fresh and good and it was NOT! The food was terrible. I got the fried shrimp, I bet they came out of a frozen package from Sysco or somewhere, it cost $12 and they were over cooked (3 of them were almost burnt....I could have got the same thing at Boat-n-Net for $4!!! Kids meals are WAAAAAAAAAY over priced, $8 for a grilled cheese with fries, really????? That should be $4. I made my son get a burger and fries for $1 more. My sons hamburger was ordered medium well, it came out still raw in the middle.....clearly their cook doesnt know the difference between medium well and medium rare! My dads order was the same way, though he said it tasted good, he got chopped steak, but it was supposed to be baon wrapped and there was NO bacon what so ever on it. He also ordered french fries and was served half burnt steak fries. The waitress did have my sons burgers remade and they came out well done instead of medium well. We waited 5 minutes just for a to-go box! Sorry PoPos, but your food is too over priced for the quality. We wont be back! We could have got the same thing at Dennys for a lot less and it would have tasted better, lol! I will say that the complimentary biscuits were REALLY good! Its ashame that the free food was better than the expensive food!

Our son and daughter-in-law came to town for the weekend and we decided to eat at PoPos since we hadnt been in a while. BOY, WAS THAT A MISTAKE! Prices went sky high and portions down. Since my husband are seniors (no senior menu at all) we opted for the not so hungry thinking we could have meat, baked potato and salad but just smaller portions. Were we wrong! The side (1 only) was $1.99 extra and if you wanted a salad etc. you paid full price for that side. RIPOFF! Daughter-in-law had the special (beef tips) - they were overcooked. Son had chicken fried steak - more batter than meat. My husband had the not so hungry catfish strips. They brought him chicken strips and said they were cooked in error but would bring the catfish strips when they were done and he wouldnt be charged extra. Certainly hope not since it was restaurant error. And dont expect to get cheese free for the baked potato - $.99 extra. And no biscuits. Half was through the meal we asked about the biscuits and the waiter said you had to ask for them - cutting down on waste. The waiter tried to make jokes about the different problems and pricing but he wasnt funny at all. Waiter cleared our plates but it was another 10 minutes before he brought the check. Bad experience all the way around. Wont go back. And by the way - Sea Island in San Antonio and Bourbon Street Cafe in Leon Springs put out food just as good if not better and half the price of what PoPos is.

Went to dinner last night at PoPos which has been a family favorite for over 30 years. Wont be returning. Knowing how much we enjoyed PoPos my mother purchased a small gift card for us to use when dining at the restaurant about 2 years ago. We finally had it with us at the restaurant and gave the waitress (who was very nice) the gift card and our credit card to pay the bill. About 30 minutes later, an extremely rude manager told us that the gift card was not actually a gift card but belonged to a regular customer and they could not accept it. As my mother was with us, we asked where her money was and how she would be reimbursed for the gift card purchased in good faith. The gift card was now deemed useless to us and we were told we would not be reimbursed. Obviously, mistakes happen. Whatever caused this mix up at PoPos was in no way the fault of the purchaser of the gift card which clearly, was purchased with the understanding that it would work when redeemed at PoPos. The manager was extremely rude to us, implying that we had done something wrong, and offered us no resolution. We were told there was nothing that could be done to rectify the situation for her or for us. Seriously??? In effect, they have stolen my mothers money. We will not be returning. The waitstaff throughout our ordeal was awesome.

I went to eat here recently with my extended family at my suggestion. The food and service where just fine as they have been in the past. However on this occasion the manager was there to seat us and walk us out. In the process of greeting us the manager did not shake my hand, a minor thing I thought. But then when we went to leave those leaving before and after me had their hands shaken and thanked. I know this may seem ridiculous thing to read, but it was incredibly obvious, pointed, and happened twice. I am sure it is because I have let my hair grow out and look more Joe Namath with a beard than Johnny Unitas. Perhaps this was his attempt at uninviting those he deemed undesirable and unkempt. I dont know why and I frankly do not care. I did not want to create a scene in the restaurant with my family having such a good time. I do regret not making a point back to the man, but what can you really do on the spot to address things properly in a polite setting? All I know is that I will not be back there again and I strongly advise others to make the same decision ahead of time. Lest they want to be caught in a situation of making a scene or letting insults slide. Not a pleasant experience.

This is a perfect place for a romantic date - especially if you want to do something a little extra special for your loved one. Johnny, Ted and Charles combined to make sure we had the appropriate wine, roses on the table, the GM stopped by to uncork the wine, a couple favorite heart melting songs popped up on the sound system (more than once - thanks guys!!) and made us feel like the most special table in the restaurant while giving us plenty of time to talk. I think they got as much of a kick out of it as I did. The ambiance is great - hummingbirds sipping nectar outside the windows, cozy booths with enough privacy to talk freely, plates from all over decorating the walls. Foodwise I can recommend the fried mozzarella without reservation - it was so fresh and juicy that it spurted when pierced by my fork. After the appetizer we got so lost in conversation that I only took another couple bites - exactly what I was hoping for.

The person seating had no concept of customer service. He gave is the option of two tables. One was a booth wedged next to a 2-seater with someone in it. The other was next to a table full of old people, one of whom had a walker propped against our table and wouldnt move it. The guy next to the booth moved, so we at down and waited. The host didnt offer us a baby seat, so our infant seat was on the floor. The seating was old with torn leather and the menus look like they were printed in 1975, except the steaks were $30 and the fried chicken was $15, meaning they mustve been printed cheaply in the modern monetary system. We waited 5 minutes and no one came to take our order, so we left. Not worth the drive at all.
