Came here after I had brunch next door (was not impressed with Salt and Time see review). But I was so happy I stopped in here, this place was a saving grace to the poor experience I had next door. I needed something to cool me down. The shop is super cute and clean. The employees are super nice! They have a punch card program here, and the ice cream is made to order. They have a couple of staple flavors and others that are daily specials. I opted to get the daily special, Birthday Cake one. The order is a good amount, its relatively high price but I felt that it was totally worth it. The ice cream was delicious! Their ice cream is made with liquid nitrogen and you can see them make each order. I would highly recommend this place to others who are looking for a good casual dessert spot. I loved the birthday cake flavor, I hope they make this a staple flavor. I would no doubt come back here. There is plenty of parking out front in the private lot as well.

Ice cream made using liquid nitrogen. Hmm... skeptical. With todays technology and social media, it feels like new "start ups" flashing buzz words are popping up every single day. Liquid nitrogen. Wooo.... sounds sciency... it must be good! Anyways, gimmicks or the real deal? Surprisingly, I would say they are the real deal. Why? Simply put, I could actually taste the difference. Just to be safe, I got the standard Vanilla flavor with Shortbread Crumble topping, something easy to compare against. The ice cream tasted fluffier and wasnt overly sweet. Im not an ice cream person by any means but I actually wanted more of it at the end. Thats how good it was! However, in the end, I can only give this place 4 stars due to their price. Ice cream is still ice cream. But if you love ice cream and $10 is not that big of a deal, I would highly recommend this place.

Bill Nye said it best, "Science Rules." SPUN takes the liquid nitrogen concept to make innovative creamy ice cream that will have you wondering if they put magical unicorn sparkles in your mouth. Thats the thinking I had after just trying one of their flavors, The Crackerjack. Think eating Cracker Jack Popcorn, only not as sweet...thats their brown butter powder/peanut molasses brittle/caramel popcorn sprinkle goodness. I enjoyed every bite of their current special, never a moment of regret. SPUNs interior is petite and a bowl of ice cream is good for two people. Theres plenty of parking that they share with Salt & Time which is a plus. I remember during SXSW they served a bbq-inspired ice cream (smoked brisket powder, pickled jalapeños, and cornbread cookie crumble) and hope that they bring that back again...because that was revolutionary!

The staff was helpful and the place was nice but their selection of ice cream was very limited. I took my kids there to see the way they make icecream on the spot with liquid nitrogen, but they only had 4 flavors avalible: chocolate, horchata, caramel, and coffee. We got some chocolate, horchata, and toffee hoping that they would like it but no luck. It cost $18 for those three icecream which were decent icecream but nothing special, in hindsight I should have just bought some blue Bell and stayed home. Really the only reason to go here is to see the gimmicks of using liquid nitrogen to make icecream.

SPUN is the first ice creamery in Austin Ive seen use the instant liquid nitrogen freezing technique. If youre unfamiliar with the process, its basically where they make the ice cream right in front of you by churning the mixture in a bowl surrounded by freezing liquid nitrogen. I personally thought that their ice cream wasnt as creamy as I would like. More than likely their fat content is lower than what my taste buds would permit. I gotta have my fatty cream in my ice cream!

Smickers ice cream was delicious. My partner got the dark chocolate flavor but neither of us were that impressed with it. Waffle cones are made in house and a must. Employees were very helpful and kind. Ill be going back, going to try the birthday cake ice cream next time. Make sure to hammer out a comment on their old school typewriter and drop it in the box, it adds a bit of fun to the trip. Although, ice cream trips are fun regardless.

I found this place on Instagram when looking at a place that features places to eat. I had never heard of liquid nitrogen ice cream so we were interested. The place was great. The employees were nice to explain what everything was and the best combinations. I loved watching the ice cream being made! The typewriter was a cool touch as well. The only thing I would like to see is more variety of flavors.

I love Spun! The ice cream is some of the best Ive ever had. Its rich without being overpowering, and every flavor and topping Ive tried gas been incredible. You can tell they put a lot of effort into choosing their ingredients wisely. By far, the coolest part is watching them make the ice cream, since they mix the liquid nitrogen and cream right in front of you!

Before heading out back home to Denver this was my last treat in Austin, A great Friend brought me here as it was a first for her as well. We both had the Chai Spice ice cream on a waffle cone, it was so flavorful and fun to watch our ice cream being made right before our eyes. The staff is super helpful. I highly recommend this ice cream experience to everyone!

I mean, literally the freshest ice cream youll find in town! I love their changing menus of new sundaes and their assortment of toppings are not the typical ones youll find, which is really cool! The owners are incredible small business owners in town and I just love that theyve now opened up a couple more locations that are close to where I live!

This is by far my most favorite ice cream place in Austin -- and I know this because I have been to -all- of the ice cream joints in Austin. The chef crafted selections are always interesting, and I adore the friendly staff. The dark chocolate, when its offered, is amazing with the chocolate crumble. An Austin Gem you cant miss!

I do not often write reviews, but the ice cream that I tasted tonight prompts me to do so. My daughter ordered the coconut milk caramel, which was delicious. However I ordered the coconut milk-based strawberry and I think the milk was rancid. It was literally the worst ice cream Ive ever tasted in my life.

I wanted to love it. I didnt at all. Staff was friendly and the concept is cool (pun possibly intended), but the ice cream was really lacking. I had the salted caramel, which had hardly any flavor at all and left a greasy paste in my mouth. I couldnt even finish a tiny bowl. Will not be back, sadly.
