Bella Napoli on 1724 Carothets pkwy: AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL service! My sister, my cousin and i recently dined in at the Bella Napoli on 1724 Carothers pkwy in franklin...and I was blown away by how bad the service was! A few things, few but huge: 1.) We went on a saturday afternoon a few people at the bar, one couple infront of us. so the place was pretty dead. -the couple infront of us were seated immediately and we were told "oh u can just sit anywhere" -while this is the style of some more laid back resturants, sense the couple infront of us was seated I took this as a sign of EXTREME disrespect. 2.) the same man, that was acting as both host and waiter, the same man that chose not to seat us then proceeded to wait on the the couple infront of us and neglect to notify anyone that we needed service, even though we sat in the booth behind the couple. 3.) WE WAITED 15 MINUTES before anyone came to our table, and that was only because my sister got up and complained....some lady came over and got our drink orders. (by this time I was ready to go but we had already paid for the groupon to try the place out, Im SO thankful we didnt pay full price for this place) 4.) My cousin asked for a lemon on the side on his water and didnt get it (this was not a big deal, however it definately added fuel to the fire. 5.) By the time our actual waiter got to our table I was visibly aggravated, and or waiter had the nerve to seem annoyed! Maybe he figured that he wasnt getting a tip at this point? Which wasnt true we believed his story about no one notifying him that we were there..but his attitude and negative demeanor sealed the deal needless to say he got nothing.. (and Im usually ridiculed by friends and family for how high tip waiters who dont provide good service, because I normally tip way over 10% if thts any indication of how bad this experience was) 6.) The food was OVERPRICED and lacking in flavor, I was VERY underwhelmed. 7.) The only nice thing I can say about this "mcdonalds" is that the pictures and wall paint were both nice. THATS IT! So all in all this place was terrible we have another groupon already purchased for $30 worth of food there but its not even worth it for us to go back. AVOID AT ALL COST!

Allow me to preface by saying that we lived in Napoli. For years. So we know "authentic" food when we taste it. Plus my Darling Bride was a chef... so we understand and appreciate good food. We began with Mussels Marinara, which were superb,. I opted for the Caprese Salad and was stunned to see three slices of un-ripened tomato and three slices of Mozzarella arrive, drizzled with Balsamic Vinaigrette! Folks, that is not a Caprese Salad. For the main course the Darling Bride had spaghetti with clams. I went off menu and the chef prepared Spaghetti Carbonara for me. Instead of steaming the clams in wine and lemon, they were presented in a rich, red tomato sauce that dd not look or taste like fresh tomatoes. My Carbonara was authentic enough, if not a little dry for my tastes. For takeout we ordered a pizza, which WAS, in fact, great old world pizza. THIS is Napoli pizza, folks... except in Napoli the pizzas are not sliced. You cut the pizza as you eat it to prevent the crust from getting soggy. The final surprise of the visit was the bill. We were in total sticker shock when, for two humble appetizers, two entrees, two beverages and a pizza to go, we were presented a bill nearing $100. I can understand that in New York, Los Angeles or maybe even Chicago... but NASHVILLE? Just know that if youre going to indulge Italian style (which means a lot of food), its gonna cost you! Service was satisfactory, although it wasnt very busy when we were there. The server was friendly, cordial and knowledgeable about the menu. No complaints. You really cant go wrong with authentic Neopolitan pizza, and these guys got it right. Everything else? Its a loose translation of "authentic" Napoli cuisine, at best.

I like to eat and drink. I do not eat chain restaurants and I appreciate delicious simple food. That being said I am live reviewing... I am in fact eating here right now... Service is really great so far, Lisa is our waitress and she is delightful. She is here just enough to ensure we have what we need, AND she is joking around and appreciates that I likey the drinkey! Drinkey...spot on extra dirty martini! Seriously, its hard to get them right. Appetizers...we had the bruschetta. Not as good as mine (ahem), but better than a lot of places around Nashville. Decent portion for the three of us, I will actually have room for my pizza...more to come when it arrives. Btw, pizza is already here. Taking my first bite now. Lisa just came by and suggested a beer we should try. Thanks Lisa! Pizza is good. Mine is not the most delicious but good. I got the Marinara because it has no cheese...the sardines were kinda mushy and the olives were whole which means I have to cut them myself. Husband has the Calzone and it is a beautiful beast, yum. The Margherita is also amazing. All-in all we are having a great night at Bella Napoli and will be back soon! Thanks Lisa, usually dont find this kind of service outside our usual places in East Nashville!

When you arrive at Bella Napoli Pizzeria, its like taking a walk in a European courtyard. I love this place and it has become a weekly treat. The pizza is the way pizza is supposed to be, you simply cannot beat ingredients imported from Italy cooked to perfection in a wood fired brick oven. I am not aware of anything I dont love at Bella Napoli, pasta, appetizers etc. I am not a restaurant snob reviewer like others posting reviews here, and I dont have an agenda, I have been there many many times and there is a reason for that. Further anytime I get visitors from out of town, its the only place I will take them, its great to have this restaurant here in Nashville, like no other I have found elsewhere. My friend was bragging he found a great true Italian Pizza at the farmers market and I asked if hed been to Bella Napoli and he had not, so I told him to try Bella Napoli Pizzeria (since wed both been to Italy and know what good pizza is) he confessed this is the best pizza in Nashville. I am a health snob and I feel good about the ingredients in this pizza, the best of the best and fresh too. You simply cannot beat this pizza, its superior on many levels. I also love the Salsiccia & Mozzarella panini, delicious, now Im hungry!

We go to Bella Napoli all the time and it is consistently delicious. I have never had a bad experience in my countless visits. They use San Marzano tomatoes, which are simply the best. I read a review on here complaining that the sauce was too tomatoey. Honestly, I dont know where this person eats. Bella Napolis sauce is the absolute best Ive tasted--and Im from an Italian family of chefs. (Shh, dont tell them I said that!) My boyfriend always orders the Quattro Formaggi pizza and its dynamite. Sure, its more expensive than Pizza Perfect or other traditional American joints, but HELLO, the dough is from the familys mill in Italy, the sauce is made from the best tomatoes on earth, the buffalo mozzarella is also from Italy. Importing delicious ingredients isnt cheap. We have always had a good experience with the waitstaff, as well. Theyre attentive and precise but unobtrusive. I was surprised to see that a few people have had bad experiences with the staff. Maybe these were just off nights? Dont know. It should go without saying by now that if you love Papa Johns, keep ordering from Papa Johns. This pizza is QUALITY, and its different than you might expect.
