After walking around for 2 hours trying to figure out what we both wanted we decided to try this place out since my husband and I both love asian cuisine (chinese, thai, & japanese, etc). We love to eat and this place was very disappointing to us since we spent our money and wasted our time here. First off the food portions were VERY SMALL- if you like to eat like my husband does, you will be very unhappy here. We are from NY so we love alot of quality & flavor in our food and food here was just OK. We ordered 4 courses and tried a few different things and I have seen restaurants close down for this type of quality of chinese food. I am really suprised with the people who have taste buds that gave this a positive review. We both decided that when we come back to Gatlinburg again, we definately will NOT want to come back to this restaurant.

I honestly dont see how this place is getting bad reviews. Went here with my mother while we were on vacation two years in a row and plan to go again next year. Prices are great, food is excellent, and its tucked away just enough to be hidden from heavy foot traffic. The interior is dater but its very clean inside. The only way I see the staff could be taken as rude is because English isnt their first language. As someone whos trying to learn a second language I can tell you its not fun speaking with native speakers and can be stressful, especially when you know youre screwing your pronunciations up. Nonetheless, I would recommend this place if youre looking for a cheap yet delicious meal. Keep up the good work!

My family of 9 have gone to this restaurant many times. It is a favorite of ours and we love Eddy to serve us. He is friendly and so helpful to us in selecting and trying new things. We love the food especially the Orange Crispy Beef dish. Sooooo Good and we cant get it anywhere else. I dont understand the negative comments here about this Restaurant.....they dont know what they are talking about....This is great food....our family eats out alot and we have been to most Restaurants in the area. We are extremely happy about North China Restaurant....in fact we are going there again tonight. You should try it yourself.....and ask for Eddy. You can tell him I sent you. (The Rose Family)

Catch it for lunch if you are on a budget. The food was well prepared and the spicy things are tamed down for the lofan taste. The waitress placed a bowl of duck sauce and red pepper oil on the table. The wife ordered broccoli and shrimp, they prepared the wrong thing but quickly brought out the desired dish. I dont know if there is any competition but hang with the other reviews. Maybe being in vegetation does not set well with the wait staff and the menu did give notice of gratuity being added on groups. It was good this time. I overheard the exchange between the only Asian waiting tables and he was very attentive and friendly. Our female lofan waitress was EXCELLENT! 15% tip

I ordered the sweet and sour chicken/shrimp. It was horrible. Both the chicken and shrimp pieces were extremely tiny and over breaded, resulting in a stale and crispy mess. Some fried bread clumps pieces had no meat at all which was very repulsive. The complementary rice was not even white rice, it was Brown rice. Somehow they messed that up and it was too dry. I think you know a Chinese place is doing something wrong if they dont offer white rice. Also, the s&s sauce was just not the best. Bottom line: This place cuts corners and compromises quality; do not go here because your "switching it up from BBQ. "

Avoid this place!!! As previous reviews mentioned, this place charges 15% service fees without notifying you in advance. If you happen to try out this place, make sure to review the break-down bill carefully before pay. In my case, they actually put 12% tax and 18% service fees on my bill. The tax rate in Gatlinburg is only 7%. And when I asked if there is any miscalculation on the bill, the guy seemed very annoyed and treated me in a very bad attitude. If you do not want to ruin your days in trip, avoid this place and these guys without integrity!

Seek other options!!! Save yourself from being treated like they are doing you a favor to be there. Our server appeared to have been there for some time. However all our guests were amazed at the disregard for her customers and the attitude. Rude, inconsiderate, again RUDE. When only "one" bite was taken from my food due to poor garlic sauce, she didnt miss a beat to bring the check for full price. 30+ years in business?? Unsure how to explain that one?

After a day of hiking, my family and I decided to try Chinese food in downtown Gatlinburg. My husband and I both ordered a combo platter. The portions were very small and the food tasted terrible! The sweet and sour chicken tasted like it was cooked together with raw fish!!! Staff was rude and food was substandard. I have no problems with tipping for excellent service, but this place makes it mandatory for their poor service. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME....

I asked the waiter for some curry shrimp with rice and the wife had the beef lo mein. Both of our dishes were tasty and were just what we were looking for. Upon leaving the restaurant we walked back to our hotel,and the wife realized she left her cell phone at the restaurant,so we immediately turned around and walked back to the restaurant. Our waiter brought the phone to us when he saw us walk in,...honest staff and we tipped him accordingly!!!!

We went to this place to eat some nice chinese food but got the old chinese guy want me to control my < 1 year old from singing her garbled song when there was only one other customer in the entire restaurant. He was RUDE even in the way he went about it. This is one place i would avoid if you are going with kids. I asked him to place a ticker saying this is not kid friendly. I am NEVER going here again.

Never been to a restaurant with such rude employees!!! When we saw the menu we didnt really care because the price of food was so cheap. Well there is a reason! We had a party of 6 not one of us finished our tiny portion because it all tasted like vomit! My noodle dish actually tasted like glass cleaner! Do not go here!! Oh and their fried rice is white rice with soy sauce, its so gross.....

GREAT people, very kind and great food! I have eaten here many times and TODAY my 4 little girls needed to use the restroom, we had eaten at our place, and the kind man at the desk was nice and let them use the restrooms. I dont know if you realize what 4 little girls going to the rest room is like, but I was VERY impressed that they were so kind and didnt even bat an eye.

These people rating this restaurant are ignorant...me and my girlfriend are very selective when it comes to Chinese food..the service was good and the waitresses were very friendly!! I ordered the shrimp and broccoli, my girl had the sweet and sour pork..both dishes were extremely good...i drive a truck and have been to many places and this is hands down one of the best!!!
