I hate that I even have to write this review considering Bristol Oyster Bar was one of my favorite restaurants in town. As Im sure everyone is aware, they have $1 oysters, everyday from 4-6. Which is a fantastic deal, if you arent accompanied by rude waitresses/hostesses. I was with a party of 4 and we arrived at about 5:20. We put our name, and asked if we would still be able to get the oyster deal. We were informed that if we sat down by 6:00 and had an oyster order in then sure we would get. So here is problem number one: They have 7 - 8 tables. Four of them sit 4 people and the others sit 2. So as we watched each table eat their oysters, chat, and sip their drinks.. time was ticking. With such limited seating, if you are their prior to 6, with your name in, I think it would only be fair to honor those people. They write the time next to the names on the wait list!!! Problem number two: Meanwhile, 2 chairs opened up at the bar and two more were in process of cashing out, RIGHT NEXT TO EACH OTHER. A couple walked in AFTER us and they said "oh hey guys!!! There are two seats opening up at the bar, go ahead!!" (seemed like they knew them). Problem number 3. As 6 quickly approached, we decided to go grab food and drinks somewhere else. But we didnt leave without saying something to the waitress about how we were upset that they didnt give us the 4 seats at the bar. She replied " Ummmmm.. well its first come, first serve sooo I didnt sit anyone there." Welllll... actually you or your co-worker did. Knowing those two people were cashing out decided to give 2/4 seats to a couple who came in AFTER us. If it was first come, first serve then why didnt the party of 4 who had been waiting 30+ minutes get offered the seats? I really hope that no one else has to experience such bad customer service at this place.

Consistency is key... and the Bristol Oyster Bar NEVER disappoints. Each time I dine at this charming restaurant, I learn about new and wonderful food combinations and I am reminded about the true beauty of a well made meal. Chef Adi is a master at combining fresh ingredients with unique flavors that always satisfies my senses. The dinner specials are written on the board on the wall, and no matter which items you choose, you will end your dining experience feeling more than satisfied. For a traditional menu item, they offer the BEST lobster rolls with homemade potatoe chips and house specially brined pickles. The garlic butter roll it is served in, will send you over the moon. Hands down, the best in the area. The desserts are made by one of their own employees, and they are a delightful compliment to a perfectly portioned meal. Absolutely delicious! Dont let the name fool you... its not just about the oysters (although the assortment they offer you is second to none) it is the entire experience that make this restaurant the best choice for me in beautiful Bristol, RI. Well done Bristol Oyster Bar. Well done Chef Adi. I cant wait for dine with you again.

It is recommended that you call 30 min ahead to put your name in, and this place is worth it. Went as a party of 4, and after a brief wait the host seated us. Everything was delicious, and I couldnt believe we could get fresh local oysters - with several different kinds to choose from - for "buck a shuck". We shared a platter if 18 oysters on the half shell, ordered a salad, 2 small fried oyster plates, and 3 of the steak Diane special - plus drinks for everyone - and I couldnt believe how reasonable the bill was! The steak was absolutely melt in your mouth perfect, and the kale salad was tender, sweet and refreshingly prepared. The oysters were deliciously fresh -- Looking forward to my next visit already!

I was so excited to have another cool place to go out to eat in our little town. The Happy Hour $1 oysters were great, the accompanying sauces were delicious. However, for a seafood restaurant, there was not a single entree that did not have meat in it. And when asked if the bacon could be omitted from the scallop dish and another seafood entree, the answer was "No". I have never had anyone refuse to alter a seafood dish to omit meat while dining at a restaurant before. I was completely taken aback by the refusal to accomdate my desire to not eat meat. I will not be going back for dinner again. Happy hour, maybe.

All these reviews of people who couldnt sit in time for specials or find a seat at peak hours are just testament of how little said person understands dining. The best New England spots tend to be little holes in the wall, that dont take reservations, and are always hit or miss with availability. Ive been indulging up and down the east coast long enough to testify to it. B.O.B is one of those phenomenal spots and doesnt deserve anything below 4 stars. For the record, I consider myself quite pretentious and pompous ... but Jesus people...grow up. LOL!

RIs Best Oyster Bar Bristol Oyster Bar was the setting for my birthday party. I shared the best local oysters, shrimp, littlenecks and lobster with my friends that are discerning foodies. We selected oysters from dozen local oyster farms. Friends came from Narragansett, Block Island, East Greenwich, South Kingston, Block Island , Lincoln and CT. We stayed for 3 hours people loved the atmosphere and décor and shared that the oysters and seafood where the best that they had ever eaten.

We had a delicious lunch last Friday. The oysters were very fresh, the sandwich though small was very good, and the beer choices excellent. Service was not quick, but servers were quite pleasant and knowledgeable. I do have one suggestion, though. I wound up with a rather sore egg on the side of my head when a waitress in a hurry came flying through the door as I was returning from the restroom. Perhaps a window would be a good idea?

The raw bar is unbelievable. All the oysters are from RI and I believe mostly from the owners oyster farms so its very fresh and local. Plus the entrees are great, as are the fish tacos. The happy hour special is great and very affordable. Good beer selection as well.

Buck a shuck every day from 4-6! A good variety of local oysters, too. Well worth a visit for an early dinner. When I went it was busy despite being a cold winter day, so summer visitors beware!

Terrific raw bar. I loved the tuna poke. Look for the specials first heartier entrees. We combined oysters and shrimp from the raw bar, fish tacos, and the tuna poke and that was plenty.

Lots of people fit in this cozy place! The food is good and the oyster specials are excellent. Sometimes the service is slower and the menu can seem limited with a mixed crowd.

Its busy, but its worth it. Dont be cheap, I recommend going after everyone clears out for the $1 oysters from 4-6pm. I went around 7pm and was seated quickly.

Food is delicious, oysters are fresh and you can get them for a dollar between 4 and 6. Beautiful old building, great service, doing a nice job with this place!
