We decided to try this new restaurant when the black dog cafe closed. Black dog was our absolute favorite restaurant. We went on valentines day now probably 2 to 3 years ago. We had a very bad experience and I ended up not eating my meal. Fast forward to present day and we were considering where to go for dinner and thought maybe wed give them a second chance. Again...horrible experience. They had cider listed on the menu they no longer carry and offered something else that was "better". It wasnt better. We decided to try burgers done medium well and they came out on the deader side of well done and were so peppery we couldnt even eat them. They blamed it on the seasoning. We couldnt even taste the Bleu cheese..only pepper. The jalapeño poppers were the only thing that was acceptable. One of the staff or perhaps it was one of the owners seemed to be intoxicated and was slurring her speech while walking around the premises. We will not be going back ever again. We left paying $19 for only 2 drinks and an appetizer...what a rip. Were horrified about this experience and wonder how theyve stayed open this long. What a shame!

The young black haired bartender is a down right thief. She appears friendly and innocent, however, she tried to charged for beer we didnt drink. Then argued with me about it and the manager came over and defended her. My friend went, placed $38 on the bar (not sure how much it would be or how long he was going to stay) the next morning, found he had $8 left in his wallet after ONLY 1 beer. If youre looking for something nice, this isnt the place. They only cater to the local drunks-this a local dumpy hang out, period. There is just so many nicer places then this, if you go-we told you so!

I have seen some negative reviews on Google about this place and I just cant understand them. My wife and I have visited on multiple occasions and the food is always great. The chili is out of this world and they even have a vegetarian chili for those non meat eaters. The staff is amazing and the owners always take time to walk around to check on how our meal was. I would highly recommend Back 40 and we cant wait until our next visit. Try the lobster mac and cheese, its crazy good!!

The food was absolutely terrible. Cold starch, raw burgers, absolutely no seasoning in the food, and overpriced out the ass. Ive been a Chef for 3 years now and this was probably the worst family restaurant Ive ever been to. The waitress was nice and gave us 10% off our meal. Wasnt her fault but I really feel bad that she has to work in a place like this.

Went to have a bite to eat, though i would just get wings. The first one i bit into was so chewy i couldnt eat it. I didnt think you could screw up wings but they did. Worst wings ever!!!!! My girlfriend got a chicken ceaser salad and she was disappointed in the salad also. Wont be going back there again..

My daughter did a surprise birthday party, my bff brought chicken wings that melted in your mouth, best I ever had! Then to top that off had a peanut butter chocolate cheesecake! Thank you Back 40! And a special thanks to the lady who made it! Sorry I forgot your name! Thank you Back 40!

We stopped in just for a burger. They were under staffed in the kitchen. It took over a hour to get burgers. On a busy weekend they had a limited menu and still were out of some of the items.

Lovely Euro-pub feel, reminiscent of the medieval travelers Inn & Pub. Great original food, homey atmosphere. The owners are directly involved with running the place, which is awesome!
