I have been frequenting the Gryphon for years and the food is INCREDIBLE. Everything on the menu is delicious - LOVE the Rose White Hot Chocolate and the Zucchini Sandwich and the Chicken Salad Sandwich - and it feels good to support a local business rather than a chain. The only downside is that the Gryphon is quite small (try getting a takeout order instead!) which is a shame because the ambiance is very soothing and I would love to be able to spend more time there. There are several cheap and inconsiderate regulars who take up whole tables by spreading out their laptops and their books and their one cup of coffee (I think they are under the impression that the Gryphon is their own private home office!), but they will sometimes move to a more appropriate table if you have a large group and you ask nicely. :) Overall, a great place to eat and (sometimes) to sit down and enjoy the local artwork, the sunshine, and the lively clientele!

Going here is a coffee lovers dream come true. Seriously! I was pinching myself thinking I would wake up at any moment. Please try ANYTHING! Its all amazing. Particularity amazing was the HOMEMADE chai Concentrate in a huge vintage glass bottle which emerged when I decided to try an Iced Chai Latte on a blistering 90 degree day. Also...I have to talk about the service. Pannan is one of favorite hosts. She is warm and friendly and her smile makes all the amazing edibles and the amazing atmosphere even better. The test of the team here, who I also look forward to getting to know, is also very friendly greeting you with very welcoming, friendly vibe. That and the specially blended, house roasted, ultra fresh coffee makes this place a place I wish I could give 10 stars to. Bravo Gryphon café!

I try to be fair in my reviews and take everything into consideration. I gotta give them stars for their vision, its just not there yet. Our cappuccinos were burnt, both the milk and the beans. If youre going to serve tasty avocado toast like a third wave shop, then be the whole package. If they sent their staff to be trained and changed a few things (a lighter roasted espresso, sweet milk [learn milk science]) theyd be on point. The drip was tasty enough, next time were in the area Ill just stick with the drip coffee. Dont expect third wave quality- somewhere between Starbucks and a modern shop. (Def way better than dunkin donuts or starbucks)

This is one of the best coffee houses in the western burbs of Philly. Gryphon roasts their own coffees and they are, without hesitation, exquisite to the taste. If youre "eating in," theyll refill your mug over and again as well. The food options are really nice to boot. Be wary of overstaying your meter as parking tickets in Wayne are surprisingly brutal. Free wifi. Great aesthetics. Usually a good soundtrack. Nice place for meeting up or dining alone.

Could be outplayed pretty easily if another private cafe opened with space, smiles and selection. Once had a snack of some sort involving free range non gmo peanut butter on toast. Less pb than a typical butter spread. Asked for more. Manager insists he gave me enough. No can do. Didnt even fill crannies. Really. Young man HS student part timer snuck me a solution and apology. Wow. Solid kid.

THE best coffee on the mainline, and, I dare say - the world! I couldnt believe when I saw only a 4 stars rating & then I realized it was because of one begruttled patron (likely an ex-employee, fired for lack of ability) that gave a 1 star and "stinks" post. This is my first review of a place ever because I felt obligated to bump up the score.

Im not the only weirdo who orders drip coffee and Texas chili at 11 in the morning: right after I ordered that, someone else did too! Highly recommended, their chilis a lil sweet. Gryphon Cafe is a long-time standby, a gem in the neighborhood. Stop in for a fine brew, a sammich, and relax. Perfect spot for a cliche coffeehouse date.

The Gryphon Cafe is one of my favorite places ever to hang out. Theres such a great atmosphere, and I always feel welcome there--my mood will always improve the second I walk in the door, not to mention that their coffee is 100% amazing!! I highly recommend the Gryphon to anyone looking for a great place to hang out and relax.

Small building with open space. Quiet music and ambiance. Big front window, that lets the light in. The coffee (americano) I ordered was strong, bold and smooth. The total for 1 M americano, 1 latte, & 2 croissants was $14.50. Waited a bit long for coffee but the staff were friendly enough.

I like the set up and atmosphere but the drinks are awful...the espresso shots in lattes are so expired and taste really bitter the cookies taste like theyve been made with crappy ingridients. I only come here because its nice to study here.

Horrible service. 3 guys behind counter and the one at the register chatting away with a customer, and I was next. I waited a very long 4 min and walked out. All I wanted was a supposed good coffee. Will never waste my time walking in again.

Great independent coffee shop! Sometimes, this place can get very busy on Saturdays and in the week for lunch, so you might have to wait if you want to drink or eat there. The espresso is freshly ground and the teas are divine.

Such a wonderful place! Many diverse options. The staff were very friendly and happy to be there. The building is super cozy. I was also pleasantly surprised that they had kombucha!

The room upstairs is dirty. Rugs are never or rarely vacuumed and tables are dirty. Bathrooms are not pleasant. Bad odors of urine eminate from them.

Excellent coffee and pastries. Nice atmosphere. Its nice to support an independent, instead of a big chain store and the coffee is so much better.

2 words: free refills. Go here instead of Starbucks. Same prices, far better ambiance, shop local! Keep money circulating in the local economy

Decent drip coffee and a friendly staff. No pour over coffees, however. I havent tried their espresso, and that seems to be their specialty.

While they need a better HVAC system, their lattes are the best I have had outside of Italy.
