After leaving our walk at Lake Scranton, my friend and I were very excited to try it out here for the first time. It was a very neat looking place and we were quickly seated. The hostess came off as rude but I didnt think much of it because it did look like there was a few tables. After waiting about ten minutes we finally recieved our drinks. Our waitress just did not look happy whatsoever and she proceeded to walk away before we even finished taking our order. She seemed very nice to everyone around us though. When we received our food we were not checked on at all after that, not to mention the staff was sweeping near our table so it did gross me out. In all the food was excellent but the service was not.

All I wanted was a coffee to go. The server placed my order, took my money and decided to make a fresh pot for me (no complaints). Then she got distracted and walked away. I had about 4 servers ask me if I wanted to place an order, but nobody made the coffee. After about 10 minutes of waiting, I finally got my coffee. For boasting they use Seattles Best, the quality was subpar -- worse than your average diner coffee. Watery, sour, and generally tasteless. The whole experience left a bad taste in my mouth (pun unintended) and I doubt I will be back.

We went there on a Monday morning after the Steamtown Marathon in 2012 (10/8/12). There was some confusion about when they open because their web site was out of date. It looks like the official time is 7am (not 6:30). But they brought us in and gave us coffee while waiting for the waitress to arrive. We gave our order and were fed early. Great food and we found the service excellent as well. We had a long chat with the manager about the marathon and business in general. Very nice people there, highly recommended.

Great location. Limited seating, but pleasant, clean & bright. Call ahead if you want food to go (the wait can be very long, otherwise) - and know that portions on to go orders are smaller than when eating in. Breakfast sandwiches are good - though not consistent. Other than the long lunch lines, the location makes Downtown Deli a really convenient & pleasant spot for breakfast or lunch.

Not only was the food good, the service excellent and the location convenient, but the manager gave not one, but two gift cards as a donation to the Hero Haul 5K Run/Walk which benefits a local injured veteran through the auspices of Homes for Our Troops, whose mission is to adapt homes for injured vets. DELICIOUS. With regular fantastically named specials, from burritos to lobster blts, its not a huge shocker that everyone I know whos gone to Downtown Deli loves it. The atmosphere is very modern and clean. Parking: A - all street parking, but not a congested area. Price: A - spot on for quality of food.

The pancakes get a 2. Soggy bacon gets a 1, and soggy homefries get a 1. No we did not complain to the management, as whats the point when you have multiple items being served that were subpar. This place definitely does not deserve a 4.0 rating. Avoid.

My cousin and I had lunch at the Downtown Deli recently. She liked the eatery. I eat there often. The tuna salad is very good. The tables and surroundings are always clean. The service is prompt and courteous. It can be very busy at peak lunchtime.

food is great but service is a little slow at lunch time due to the large crowd. They lose a star for location, you cant park anywhere close by and if you dont get there early people will not leave but stay and talk for hours.

The best spot for breakfast in downtown Scranton. A bit pricey, but its worth the extra buck or two. They also deliver to the downtown area, so if youre hungry and cant leave your office, give em a try.
