The Bar(n) is a mess. When it first opened it seemed like it was going to have a lot of potential. The previous establishment was a den of crime and violence, and there is a legendary history with that owner of tax evasion and fraud. At first this place seemed welcoming (if minimalist,) hosting goth dance nights, karaoke and a variety of diverse events. Slowly it devolved into something else; something no one wants to admit. The truth is that the melting pot of West Philadelphia is volatile, with gentrification creeping into corners every day. The owner of this business started getting indignant over criticisms of things like his cheap looking sign, or the fact that drinks were too expensive. Now all thats left is a bar that white college hipsters go to because they secretly feel more comfortable here than other local bars that have a neighborhood crowd. If this place were to shut down tomorrow it would be a blessing.

Im hopeful that their sign will change and theyll upgrade the lighting so I can actually see the food Im eating. The wings are seriously worth dealing with the hideous sign and tacky yellow paint. Theyve got an enormous alley right behind them. Hopefully they move the barbeque back there and get it off of the sidewalk out front. There are too many children in the neighborhood to have a very hot and often unattended grill burning all day on the sidewalk. I remain hopeful. The food is tasty and the drink specials arent half bad either. Best of luck Bar(n)...

Bomb ass wings at a really good price. Theyre smoked whole wings, so good. PBR is on tap for $3 I think, they have the citywide, could use more cheap options ;). Pool tables (I like when bars have things to do) and a neighborhood bar feel, which is my style. Theres a lady that is there often that puts good R&B on the jukebox so Im always happy when shes there. They should really just take her advice and play her tastes all the time, I dont think anyone would complain.

Barn has a decent selection of beers (mostly in bottles and cans) with a handful on tap. Usual selection of liquor, with a few rotating mixed drink specials (that always sound interesting, though I dont usually partake). More bar than restaurant, they have a relatively small menu of food items thay they do fairly well (the smoked wings are totally on-point, though). Two pool tables, a Ghostbusters pinball machine, TouchTunes jukebox. Good stuff.

Its dark, hard to hear, has a unique scent and a killer vibe I have yet to find anywhere else in Philly. You can meet anyone and everyone here. Great list of beer, food is on point (not the most inexpensive, but you get what you pay for!!). You cant have a bad time here unless you wake up and decide to. Say hi to Jerry he is a cool dude!

Came in on a slow Monday to unwind. Good crowd, good music, super attentive and super friendly bartender (Vaughn). One of the few times I felt at ease and at home at a bar. Going to make it a tradition to stop by for a citywide(great price, $4) and relax whenever Im in the w. Philly neck of the woods.

Ok, its a dive bar, but it is what it is. If you like it gritty and real and in the hood, but most of all authentic, this is the place. The tacos are off da HOOK busy. Nice vibe, the bartenders are as real as it gets. Friendly and warm like Cheers but without all the fakeness of TV.

This is a fabulous local place with lots of Flavor and great mixture of people..It is my favorite local Go To spot for food which is great and the drink specials are very reasonable..Sarah and Jerry the Startenders are both Fabulous and Great Customer Service.. 10 + Starrs........

This place gets better every time I go in. Just added tvs. Definitely the best specials/deals in the area. they deserve a lot of credit for improving the area without totally selling out. Old place was a literal disaster. I love that they grill chicken right out front....

The neighborhood has changed. This used to be an all African American Bar in a tough neighborhood. It is now a neighborhood bistro with beer specials and a basic menu which includes wings, tacos and mussels. I like the change. Pool tables and karaoke also.

Their chicken wings should be nationally ranked. Oh man, the honey garlic is wonderful. Yeah, you have to turn a blind eye to decor, but the food and reasonably price beer is worth it. Come to think of it, I just might head over right now!
