A great addition to the Port Richmond (and River Wards) area! This is a classic coffee shop that has a simple menu of coffee and tea beverages, along with some tasty treats like donuts, danish, ice cream, and other things, depending on the day. This is a small business, and it is clear that the owner really puts his heart and soul into this place. We always see the owner there, and he is always kind and fun to chat with. The other baristas are also friendly and good for a chat while youre waiting for your drink. I really appreciate the simple menu at this place, because it is clear to me that the owner does his best to make sure they make each of the items on the menu REALLY WELL. They totally put a lot of love into each drink they make. They also make a point to have a variety of LOCALLY sourced items, which is awesome! The atmosphere is lovely. The wooden interior is cozy and inviting. Its a great place to sit and relax on a nice day, especially with the big "garage door" window open! Overall, I am so pleased to see a place like this in Port Richmond. Richmond Street has so much potential and this place is really opening those doors in a good way! Way to go, River Wards!

River Wards Cafe is a harbinger of the revitalization of Richmond Avenue and the revival of Port Richmond. Its also in itself something our hood desperately needed: a spot for good coffee and FREE WIFI north of Lehigh Ave! The tables are a bit small, but theres outlets & internet & cool music playing. The chai latte is excellent; so is the owner and his vision for the community. For folks who dont have internet at home or just want somewhere in Port Richmond/Harrowgate area to do homework, this is your best option. Note: The state of bike parking on Richmond Ave leaves much to be desired, but the owner is currently exploring solutions to the issue. Excited for when Richmond comes back to life & we need bike parking more then ever. Until then, Im sticking around & supporting this shop and its forward-thinking employees.

Im at River Wards Cafe using their free WiFi now to write this review one week after opening day. Im happy to see it appears to be well-received by the neighborhood already. After I locked my bike up on the corner, I entered to be greeted by the staff and informed that a bike stable out front of the store was in the works. I really dig the urban feel of the decor, the simplified menu, and the glass garage door that opens up to let the breeze in(yet not much noise from Richmond Street). I had the Americano and a croissant and Ill be back for more soon.

Quality, well-prepared coffee and espresso drinks. The coffee is really good, but I prefer their Americano with a decent amount of creamer. Its really a step above with a great pick-me-up strength but not burned or bitter tasting. The table area is kinda plain but bright and clean. They always have a few stacks of local papers to read and some other stuff. Just a nice relaxing spot to sit for a few and get some quick work done or regroup.

Definitely the best coffee shop in Port Richmond, and playing an important role in the beautification of Richmond St. and all of Port Richmond. Joe is a great guy running a great neighborhood business. They use Reanimator coffee from Fishtown and do a great job in preparing it. The Cortado is my go-to. Pastries are great as well. Good airy space with plenty of outlets.

Probably the best place to get coffee drinks in Port Richmond. The prices are reasonable. So far I have tried the Americano, cortado and the orange tea. The espresso is a little acidic but thats just me. There is a lot of Port Richmond history displayed inside for those who are interested. Overall, a nice gem that deserves a visit.

Just back from my old neighborhood Port Richmond. I was delighted to find RiverWards Cafe on Richmond Street. The coffee is outstanding and the atmosphere is fantastic. A nice place to hang out, read and drink great java. Finally a classic cafe in the neighborhood! Ill certainly be back next time I am in the area.

Nice place. Pastries are great but I was really disappointed with their coffee. I am a coffee-holic so I was thrilled when I saw we were getting a cafe in the hood. This place is situated about halfway between Hinge and Mercer Cafe both of which serve much better coffee.

Great place to grab a classic drink or try something new. Owners are constantly adding to the menu and very helpful when suggesting new drinks. Definitely a hidden gem away from all the hustle and bustle!

Great selection for coffee drinkers. They added Wecklerys ice cream sandwichs to their menu which is a must have in the summer. The cafe is very clean and has a ton of natural light.

Very attentive service decent coffee and the milkshake was good too but no Donuts Saturday at 10:30 in the morning is unacceptable .Absolutely no baked goods
