The bouncers here are horrible, rude, and exceedingly unprofessional. I had a drunk male friend follow me into the girls bathroom and barricade himself in my stall. A bouncer had to come in and kick him out of the bar, but proceeded to ACCUSE me of having sex in the stall! I tried to explain that the guy was really drunk and I couldnt get him out, and the bouncer not only refused to listen, but kicked ME out of the bar. Had this been a sexual assault case, this would have been a completely inappropriate way to handle a female trying to explain what happened, and could have potentially put her in a dangerous situation. The staff needs to be educated on how to handle sexual assault and male misconduct.

I agree with the others. After taking me an my fiancees $60 we were told that open bar only included CHEAP liquor and small cups of CHEAP beer. The bouncers disrespectfully ride your case about everything. They are VERY unprofessional and they dont have the slightest clue about what they are doing. They are ready to kick you out if you breath wrong. The atmosphere is a bit odd, its like being in a dingy old basement with over priced drinks. I do not recommend this place to anyone. You will most likely spend all of your money in the dirty basement then get kicked out for breathing.

The food is sub grade bar food, the music is terrible, and the staff has serious issues. The manager (joe c.) wrote me a letter on Facebook filled with profanity, insulting my dancing, and stating I would be trespassing if I came back.. I hadnt even been to his bar, hes a complete douche. I posted on my own page the DJ in Mad River Olde City sucked, after they invited me to a St Pattys kickoff party and I travelled over an hour to get there just to find an empty bar! What a bunch of losers! If you want a good dancefloor try Philadelphia or Westchester

Uh no! Mad river manayunk is best known for blacked out college students probably who have gotten in with fake IDs. Id be surprised to know if they break fire code on the weekends as they let in way too many people. If you like boxing outside the ring mad river is the place to go. Juiced up bros and bimbos are constantly looking to pick a fight, going as far as shoulder checking or tripping anyone just because. Want a drink? Youll have to fight your way up to the bar for that as well. Steer clear.

Not my favorite place on Main Street in Manayunk. Unless you enjoy careless bartenders who arent aware of the specials at their bar and loud college students drunkenly stumbling all over each other, avoid this place. We went for a trivia night. The menu clearly offered $3 Coors Lights. Still, when I cashed out, I was charged full price for my drinks. It wasnt until I showed the menu to the bartender and she checked with another bartender that they corrected my order.

Want to hook up with a bunch of sloppy 21-ish college kids? This is the place for you! Crowded bars, plenty of space for people to get their grind on (and they do). Ive never had the food, nor do I want to--plus, seating is at a minimum to allow more standing room. Bouncers are aggressive and check everyones IDs, but not very thoroughly. Note that I am being generous with the age bracket... I suspect that many people arent quite old bough to get in.

I went here and the place was a dump. Underage kids everywhere. I went to get a beer from the beer tub girl. What a jerk this girl was. I asked her name....lauren....just so disrepectful. After dealing with her some bouncer comes over me...being WAY over protective of her. God girl get a life...your really ugly so get over yourself. After this I go to the bar and get dirty looks all night. This place was just absolutely horrible

Just had my company Christmas party here. The staff was more than attentive and the atmosphere was warm and festive. I did not have high hopes as I knew of Mad River as mostly a sports/college bar, but my expectations were exceeded! I thank the staff at Mad River for making our company outing a blast. Excellent job with the food, and I will be back!

I went here with a friend just to watch some basketball and grab a bite to eat and do not recommend eating anything from here. The food was terrible and all we got was soup and buffalo dip. It was pretty much all oil and the bread they gave you with it was hard as a rock. I guess that is why people go here to drink and NOT eat.

Theres a reason why they have less than a 2.4 average rating. The bar is whack, music is whack, and the service across all level is whack. My friend was rejected from entering because he was literally wearing Timberland boots.... boots. Dont waste your time or money on this bar with power-hungery uneducated bouncers.... Morons.

I use to frequent this place often, but now I feel that Ive grown out of Mad River. Great times if youre into the college scene, otherwise it can be a bit much. They throw great parties and usually have a good band in the main room. The back room can get overly crowded with rowdy first-time drinkers. Beware!

Gave it 5 stars because they didnt do anything wrong. Bouncers were fine. I am 43 and was there to celebrate my 22 year old cousins birthday. No issues letting me in. It is a club with loud music. Looking for a quiet evening with a date, not the place. Looking to dance to loud music, good place to go.

My boyfriend and I went here to watch a game and get a bite to eat. We put our food order in shortly after arriving and only an hour and a half later it arrived - cold and, in my case, not what I ordered. Go elsewhere. I wouldnt recommend this place to anyone.

Stupid people go here. Nothing good about it. Management is terrible. Security needs to take a chill pill too haha they think theyre so cool with their little GEDs and what not. Hate to break it to you bro your life sucks...look at your job. Overpriced.

Giant dance party. Dont go there expecting much else. Just a butt load of people dancing and drinking. Was good fun. Was dirty but hey thats what happens when there are 300 people dancing in once space, and they have two big dance floors.

Once you turn 21, there is no reason to go to Mad River. Its dirty and packed with under agers. They do host some benefit events which keeps them respectable on occasion. They have ok specials, but usually also have a cover.

For a Thursday night, (no cover) got there 11:45 not too bad. Bartenders were good, space was clean including the bathroom. And the DJ Joe Broscoe kept the dance floor going. Wasnt overcrowded nice male to female ratio.
