A gem of a local business in North Wales quickly making a name for itself, Alice Bakery and Confectionary is a gourmet bakery with a special touch on everything that it makes. I first went to Alices in October 2011 and have been going there almost every week since. Its the quality of their food and the welcoming, open atmosphere created by owner Dennis Darr and his staff that keeps me coming back for more. I was first drawn to Alices because of their cupcakes, which Im always a sucker for. Their cake is always spot on: moist and semi-sweet with a light crisp on the top. And the various buttercream icings they use to top many of their cakes/cupcakes are great, always having just the right amount of sweetness and a perfect consistency (its all about the right whip!). The aforementioned qualities are key to a great whipped icing, as too much sweetness or too firm a consistency can easily ruin any flavor, and is akin to cheap, grocery-store baked goods. Fortunately, Alices knows this very well, and consistently delivers quality icings on all their cake products, affirming their label of "gourmet" with a capital "G". But the cupcakes arent the only high quality baked good Alices has to offer. Their sticky buns are melt-in-your mouth-with-buttery-goodness delicious; same with all the other pastries and Danishes. The tarts they offer are very good as well, though I tend to stray from them in favor of the cupcakes and pastries. As far as bread goes, I cant really comment all that much, as I really havent sampled many of the breads they offer. What I do know is that the cheese breads and focaccia bread are outstanding (try the 3 year aged Gouda bread!). Honestly, Ive never had anything at Alices I didnt like; Dennis and his staff really know what theyre doing. Whats more is that theyll work with you to create that special item youre looking for. Theyve made a couple unique cakes (as well as cupcakes) for me for special occasions, all of which were beautiful and delicious. Some of the cakes Ive seen them make are ridiculous: the artful designs the staff is capable of creating is very impressive. To put it simply, everything that Alices makes is a level above almost every other bakery Ive ever been to; you just dont find places like this very often. They have a great assortment of items to choose from, they use high quality ingredients, and they dont shy away from utilizing new or different ideas. Owner Dennis also offers a few different soups as well, using his professional cooking know-how to expand into other categories besides baked goods and sweets (apparently more is coming as well – salads, sandwiches, etc.). Check this place out sometime and support a great local business! You wont be disappointed!

So let me begin by saying Oh My God. I have stumbled into a new place of daily worship known as Alice Bakery and Confectionary. The Pastor(Head Baker/Confectionair) is Dennis Darr who along with his staff have put together a wonderful place to sit and talk and lets not forget grab something wonderful to eat. The pastries and bread are delightful that come from the oven. The products are the best I have tasted in along time. Some of Alices signature items include Sticky Buns, Croissants, Cupcakes, eclairs, pies, cookies, butter cake, artisan breads that are made daily. Alice also at times makes delightful chocolate candies in a variety of flavors. You will be surprised by the quality of items that are being made in this quaint little shop that has a big foot print in the sand of the North Wales community. Other bakers beware if you havent heard Alice is here to stay and the customers you havent seen in a while are going there now. You will not be disappointed if your next stop for baked goods is at Alice. Everything is delicious there. Oh and by the way Alice also participates in the Landsdale Farmers Market(at this time only there bread items are sold there) Beignets(ben-yays) are coming. In closing I am hooked and my dealer is named Alice Bakery and Confectionary see you there.

Pretty sure the opening of this bakery is the best thing that has happened since my husband and I moved into the area last. Alice provides the best of all of the bakery worlds; good bread, pastries, AND chocolates and also a super nice owner and employees (especially compared to some of the other local bakeries). We have enjoyed everything that we have gotten, and we have tried a wide variety of the offerings, and it is really nice to know that they will be happy to make anything you may miss seeing with a little bit of notice. Every time we go to Alice we are super excited to see what new offerings they have this time and we are never disappointed in what we try. You can tell by the wonderful taste and texture that only high quality ingredients are used in everything for sale here. The chocolates are amazing and composed of complex flavors such a a variety of chocolates filled with tea infused chocolate. Alice also provides a nice little cafe area where you can sit and eat your pastries, which they happily warm up for you, or drink a cup of the nice selection of teas that they offer in addition to the baked goods. LOVE IT!

I found ABC just after they opened, completely by happenstance; and fell in love with traditions kept, innovative confections loving crafted, and exceptional excellence across the board. Though I stop on the rare occasions Im in town, I make the run for something/someone special every time...and it never dissappoints. A few years ago, When I travelled to India for work, and knew Id miss Valentines day with my girls, the staff couldnt have been more accommodating ~ using decorative boxes that I supplied, to be filled with custom cupcakes, just for them. Grandmom then picked them up and delivered the surprise to them, with a third selection chosen just for her, too. It may not have seemed like much, but being thousands of miles from home, I was able to send sweet kisses to them because of the great work ABC provides. Thanks bunches!

Excellent food, beautiful presentation, service well meaning but inexperienced. If you are planning a lunch here in a weekday, either arrive earlier than the lunch crowd... And/or plan a minimum of 90 min. Wait staff are very pleasant and well meaning but inexperienced and inefficient. Id like to say this is just a one experience issue... But I have visited several times a year, for several years and always had the same experience. Not a place to go if you are tight on time.... But worth the visit if you do have time: quaint, exceptional food, generous portions, great food presentation, good value for price.

Alice Bakery is what a bakery should be. Delicious baked goods baked on site and made with the very best ingredients. I personally love the danish and the chocolate croissant. My family loves the breads. Try the Gorgonzola, cracked peppercorn loaf with a nice bottle of red wine. And dont forget the chocolates. I started going to Alice when I was looking for a unique holiday gift for my coworkers. Dennis put together a five piece sampler pack of an assortment of his handcrafted, filled chocolates. they were VERY well received.

So glad I found this place on the way to/from work. My wife and I have liked everything weve tried from here from baguettes to danish to cupcakes. They keep a nice variety of things every day and Dennis (the owner/baker) tries new things pretty often and uses seasonal fruits. The sticky buns are amazing and the danish are even better. The quality is consistently high with Dennis agonizing over the quality of his treats. Definitely a must stop, Im sure if you go once youll be back.
