One of my favorite places here in Blue Bell/East Norriton. According to my Foursquare checkins, Ive been here 36 times within the last year or two - but I know Ive been there at least 75 times or more since they opened up. Excellent, consistent quality food and really nice servers an staff. Absolutely not what you expect from a buffet at all. I am headed there for lunch with some new clients today. Everyone I have ever taken there or recommended Minados to loves the place. If you like variety, then this is your place. They always have a great selection of different style rolls, and nigiri style sushi, and plenty of other hot foods and salads, including made to order udon, stir fry, and awesome crepes for desert. Plenty of fresh fruit and other deserts - the coconut crispy cookies are my favorite. Dinner hours they also have all you can eat crab legs, oysters, shrimp, sashimi (usually salmon, tuna, and yellowtail), they often have fresh Uni (sea urchin), giant clam, an other goodies during dinner hours as well, along with plenty of other great food, including plenty of beef, pork, and chicken prepared several different ways, and a ton of other seafood and salads. They also have some decent tempura vegetables and shrimp. For lunch, which is less expensive, there are no crab legs or sashimi, but pretty much everything else including a few variations they do just for lunch. Literally too many things to list in terms of selections. It is always fresh as well. In fact if you are in the last seating of the night, youll witness them breaking down the buffet and cleaning everything up - and although its sad to watch all the food go to waste, everything that hasnt been eaten that is left goes in the trash. I cant bear to watch so I never go past a certain time for dinner. The servers are all fantastic and friendly people and always remember me and my children when we visit, which is another plus, they are a family/kid friendly place - which is great as its also one of my 5 and 7 year olds favorite places to eat, been bringing them both their since they were babies. There are always plenty of happy families with children here - but they do cater to adults as well, with sake and beer on the menu too - plus you can bring your own - have brought my own sake here for special occasions. It can be a little expensive, more so for dinner or on holidays, but for what you get it is more than reasonable, especially if you have an appetite. Lunch is less expensive, and a bit quieter than on the weekends for dinner, so its a great time to come and check it out - but do come back for dinner for the extra variety. Finally, if you are in a hurry, they do offer takeout where you can pick and pack things in containers to go - it can be a little expensive, but you simply cant get the variety anywhere else, so its worth it. They do have a nice frequent diner reward card too, and I have had plenty of free or nearly free lunches from using it over the years. Again, not at all like a typical buffet.

I would have never thought I would be writing a review for a buffet. Its not that Im too good for buffets, because I love them when Im starving, but theres usually never a doubt what the quality would be. Minado is a little different. Our party of five came here on a Sunday evening, and although it wasnt jam packed, it was still fairly full - and mostly filled with Asians. The establishment itself is quite large, so although it wasnt completely full, there was a lot of people here. So far so good. Minado has pretty much everything youll need - over 40 (yes 40!) different types of sushi and sashimi to devour, hibachi grill for those looking for cooked meat, a variety of Cantonese dishes, and two or three dim sum plates. The sushi looked - and tasted - fresh, the avocado was still green! For a buffet, the quality of the sushi and sashimi surpassed my expectations and is on par with some of the non-buffet establishments in Philly. You wont be disappointed. The dim sum was so-so, I guess thats why there was only two or three dim sum dishes. Not Minados strong suit. The Canto dishes were better, with a variety of seafood, meats, and tofu options from which to fill up your growling stomach. There was also crab legs for those looking to crunch out some frustration. The desserts were also better than I expected. There was the traditional fruit options, and also a selection of other small bites - amuse bouche for the more refined :) just kidding. The oreo cheesecake and the green tea cheesecake were delicious, and the green tea custard (full fat, as someone kept reminding us) was a great way to wrap up a very, very filling meal - all for roughly $30 bucks a pop.

We always go for dinner because they server their full buffet for dinner. The lunch buffet does not include some of the seafood. The dinner buffett is about $28/person, not including drinks. For 2 people, the bill usually comes to $72, which includes 2 soft drinks. They have a huge selection of raw and cooked sushi, and plenty of seafood to choose from. My fav is the king crab legs. They are served cold on a bed of ice. You can get warm drawn butter, but the crabs are so sweet that I never need the butter. You definitely want to go hungry! I think the dessert buffet could offer more variety, but thats pretty good too. They have vanilla and green tea ice cream, and little petit four pastires. But, they also have a crepe station! You can get chocolate, any kind of fruit you want, whipped cream, etc in your crepe. Very tasty! They also have a hibachi station during dinner, but not for lunch. I would suggest going Mon - Thurs. We went 1 time on a Friday night, and the cooks could not keep the sushi coming fast enough because the place was packed. We often had to sit around and wait for a few minutes for them to prepare more sushi. But we never had that problem going during the week. If you love sushi or youve been wanting to try it, you have to try Minado!

I started to go to Minado 5 years ago if I could not come up with an idea what do I have to eat for that date. I usually went to New York and the New Jersey branches of Minado (Now its Todai) I can say without any doubt that this Minado at Norristown really sucks. I saw tha takuan sushi. How can they serve rice with takuan (yellow radish) on top and call that sushi? I thought it was some kind of fish I havent seen. When I bit into the sushi and other foods, I was like "what the fxxx". Compared to other local buffets, Minado is the worst. The biggest mistake Minado did was hiring Indians (Im not racist) as sushi chefs. The chefs treat customers like shxx. They dont know the basics of making sushi, even Im sure that I make better sushi with both hands amputated. After I got out of Minado, I had to drink literally 2 gallons of water since Minados food has so much MSG. I thought this restaurant was purposely collaborating with Deer Park or Dasani by putting in so much MSG... I would like to give negative stars if they existed.
