Ive been to Zahra several times now over the past few months. While I cannot speak to how this restaurant was in years past what I have experienced has been nothing short of delicious. Even better, the prices are extremely reasonable most hovering around $11 a plate. My most recent visit I ordered the Chicken Kofta which was the special for the day and my girlfriend ordered the chicken seekh kebab platter. Both were very tasty. The kebab platter came with a heaping portion of rice and a great creamy garlic sauce on the side. The kofta, which is meatballs in a spicy gravy, came with a large side of rice and plenty of naan for dipping. If kofta is the special for the day I highly recommend getting it. They dont have it all the time and its always worth ordering when its available. The staff has always been extremely friendly and responsive. Ive not lacked for anything when Ive been there. The only negative I could possibly say about this gem of a place is that the food can sometimes take a longer then average time to come out when they have a lot of orders to process at once. Ive never felt like the food took too long, though, and the staff has always made sure I was well taken care of if there was a delay. If you enjoy Indian/Pakistani food, or are just looking for a good meal at a good price you cant go wrong with Zahra.

I am always looking to experience different type’s food and in turn other people’s cultures. About a month ago I stumbled on Zahra with my wife and we decided to give it a try. First let me say that the staff was very nice and offered to describe the different foods on the menu. The owner and his wife were there and were very welcoming as well. After little deliberation my wife and I just ordered four dishes some Nan and an appetizer figuring we could sample more that way. Well let me tell you it was awesome! It was also clearly prepared fresh so the little wait is well worth it. It is not fast food people! We finished it with a homemade rice pudding type dessert that was to die for. The only bad part was the 4 weeks it took me to get back for another meal! If you are tired of the cookie cutter restaurant experience this place is well worth it. I am writing this review after my second awesome experience here. I hear that in late August the owner is adding gourmet Gyros at lunch it, just when I thought it could not get any better! During both visits I had Lamb Kebab Boneless, Chicken Tikka Boneless, Curry Chicken, Chicken Sheekh Kebabs, Vegetable Takoa, Nan, two drinks and one dessert and the bill was under 50.00! Two people can eat great food here for much less keeping in mind that I had 3 boxes to take home!

This restaurant is wonderful. The design is quite lovely, it is fancy yet still has a family vibe to it. The taste of the food isnt too rich but also isnt too weak. I personally like their chicken sandwich which comes with a side of fries. The fries are seasoned with an incredible array of spices that tickle your taste buds. The Sandwich comes with a garlic aioli sauce that is jam-packed with garlic and herb flavor that also helps give the chicken a creamy flavor. The Naan bread is nice and thick with a herb aroma to it that whets the appetite. It has a nice thickness to it for more saucy dishes. The Gulab jamun is also very lovely as well. They put coconut shavings on top and these little syrup sacks are packed with flavor. Though after a few the richness can be a bit overwhelming, so try to eat in moderation. The owners also have two wonderful children to help out and bring a vibrancy to the restaurant that makes it feel very home-like and humble. I enjoyed this restaurant to the fullest and I am sure you will too!

I have eaten at many Indian and Pakistani restaurants in the area and I always keep going back to this one. I love to cook and think Im a pretty good cook so I am very particular in where I go out to eat and where I get take out from. I dont want to be dissapointed and spend money on a dish that I could have easily found a recipe for and cooked myself so, this now became the only restaurant that I will go to when I get a craving for Middle Eastern food. Their food is so flavorful and has the perfect amount of spice and a very good quality of freshness. The owner and staff are very clean and sanity when preparing their food. I have never been disappointed in anything that I have ordered. Everything on their menu is delicious. My personal favorites are their Chicken Tikka Masala and their Grilled Chicken Platter. I highly recommend their buffet on Friday-Sunday since you get to try a little bit of everything!

Khalid the owner welcomed me as soon as I stepping into this beautiful restaurant, having no background in what to order or what to try. The recommendations through conversing with the friendly place eople who were in the restaurant along side with the people working ". Started eating Falafel wraps, incredible start being introduced to the flavor and spices, then Au samosas & vegetable Kahari. When I ordered the off menu special Malai Kafta, is incredibly delicious, literally every bite was consistent in taste, so much love and time put into the food and the quality of the food and spices were also extremely noticeable in the plate and the taste test. SERIOUSLY LOVE ALL THE VEGATARIAN PLATES! I will continue to eat there, not just for the food, but the environment and energy in the restaurant, whether its a group or me going solo, also welcoming.

I love this place! I dont live in mechanicsburg anymore, but almost every time I come back I make sure to come here. I remember when they first opened, I came here with my family and he sat down and talked them through how to figure out what they would like (they had never had Indian or Pakistani food before). Some of them are really picky eaters and hate spicy food, but he helped them find something they liked. He is always so passionate about his menu. I eat Indian pretty often now, but I like the difference in the way the food here tastes. This is the only place Ive ever had Pakistani food, so I dont know how typical it is. But I love the different spices and twists he makes on some of the Indian classics I have had elsewhere. If youre looking for something new, affordable, and delicious, you should definitely give zahra a try!

Everything I get at this restaurant is absolutely spectacular. From chicken korma, to mutter paneer, to kebabs, to samosas, to hummus, etc, etc, etc, this place is always delicious, handmade, and fresh. The service is friendly, and the owner is generous and kind. They put tons of effort into making an amazing product, and it shows! Its a laidback atmosphere, and the owners young daughter (namesake of the restaurant) is often playing at a table (well-behaved!) while other family members cook and serve the food. Paintings of the family hang on the walls. If all this wasnt good enough, the price is right! $11.33 at the most for an entree, including rice & naan with many dishes. This is my & my boyfriends favorite restaurant, frequenting at least once a week. AWESOME PLACE!!
