Avoid this place at all costs, at least as long as the a**hole bartender is working there. Heres what happened: The guy comes over to the table to take my order. I ask if they have Scotch. He says, "Of course we do. Its a bar." Fail. Youre supposed to tell me what kinds of Scotch you have, not be a condescending jerk. So he says, smugly, "We have all that stuff." Yeah, right. Turns out they only have Dewars and Johnny Walker. That’s why I asked in the first place. But I’m not trying to pick a fight; I’m just trying to order a drink. But fine. I order Johnny Walker, straight. He pours about an ounce and a half into a glass—a normal portion--and brings it over. Doesnt take long for me to order another one, because there is not much in the glass. Definitely not a double shot. Then, when I get the bill, he charges me $16.50 for my two "drinks." I ask about it and he says, “Two double shots at $8.25 a pop is $16.50.” But they weren’t proper double shots. If the first one was poured properly, I wouldn’t have needed a second. Really? This is how you do business? Why are you trying to gouge your customers? Besides that, the demeanor of this guy was terrible. I said “thank you” to him several times AND HE DID NOT RESPOND. He didn’t even grunt. It was terrible. He is obviously unhappy and should be fired. I will never go back to that place to be treated like that. So, good luck with your “business,” Basin Street. You would think that you would be in the business of encouraging repeat customers, but you don’t seem to be interested in that at all. You seem more interested in gouging me for a few extra bucks. I’m a local and I won’t be back.

Live nearby, decided to check it out. Went around 4 on a weekday. Bar was sparaley populated, but gained customers as our meal went on, most likely gets busier as the night drags on. Nice asmosphere, very cozy and historic. I almost felt like I was part of a movie set. Service was average. Food was average to above average. The steak fries were awesome! Crispy and delicous. Got a blue moon but they were out of oranges, bummer. The prices were outrageous! The prices for their drinks are not even listed on the menu, I had to ask! $7.50 for a cosmo, $3.50 for a 12oz blue moon. Our total bill, which was 2 basic sandwiches, fries, and 2 drinks was $32 before tip! Would go back if I could afford it. 3 out of 5.

WATCH YOUR BILL IF THE BARTENDER IS RINGING YOU UP! MAKE SURE YOU KEEP TRACK OF WHAT YOU DRINK BECAUSE HE WILL FOR SURE ADD ON SOME EXTRAS! WE ASKED "WHERE DID THESE EXTRA CHARGES COME FROM, WE ONLY HAD 2 DRINKS" HE WALKED OVER TO THE TRASH CAN AND SAID "NO THERE ARE EMPTIES IN THERE FROM YOU" HE PROCEEDED IN ARGUING WITH US AND SAID "OK WHATEVER, ILL PAY FOR IT". REALLY?! WE WILL NOT BE GOING BACK THERE AGAIN, MUST BE DESPERATE FOR MONEY OF THEY ARE TRYING GO STIFF THEIR CUSTOMERS BY MAKING THEM BELIEVE THEY ARE CRAZY. A**HOLE.

If you are looking for a bar with that hometown "cheers" feel, Basin Street is the place. Basin Street Hotel is a unique mix of college students and Kutztown "townies" coming together to converse over hot food and cold brew. The staff is always friendly and attentive, and it is one of the only restaurants that I know of where the owner still cooks his food and serves his customers, which shows a great amount of commitment to the business. If you go in for food, get the drunken or nolans wings, they are the best!

Ill admit that Im not real crazy about this town, and there isnt much to do. However, if youre coming through and looking for good bar food- the Basin is the place to stop! They have appetizers and dinners, but the very best (for my money) are the sandwiches. Good, fresh ingredients prepared perfectly. Im drooling right now thinking about their Golden Bear. (roast beef+coleslaw+fries all hot on a bun) Beer selection is wanting, but so is every bar in town. Classy & casual. Dont miss it!

Love this place ! Its like the "Cheers" of Kutztown , big menu , great wings and personable staff . Its not the crazy college bar you might think , mostly just great people meeting for great food and drinks. The drinks are large and not expensive and the food is awesome especially the wings !! I love sitting outside with friends !

Monday is Wing Night @ about $15 for all you can eat and a pitcher of beer. Good wings about 20 flavors give or take. Bar staff was attentive but not overbearing. 90% of the flavors were great, that 10% could be the combo of the last flavor to the next.

Fun place to sit outside at and drink or just hang out. Food is OK but if you are going to go there, go for lunch because the daytime cook is much better than the night cook. On weekdays. Good wraps and old bay fries!!

Every Monday night they have all you can eat wings and a pitcher of beer for $16. Wings are some of the best with something like 15 different sauces/dry rubs. Go on a Monday and you will not be disappointed.

The food is unimpressive. The drinks are hit or miss, depending upon the bartender. If Chino (the guy who owns the place) makes your drink, then itll be excellent. Watch out for the wait staff, though.

Small town bar feel, wings were ok, stopped during an eagles game at begining of season and only 5 or 6 other people there.. a few med size TVs.. not a bad place for a relaxing time watching the game.

Could be managed better. It does not have music, the beer is warm ,the service isnt good and dont drink to much the owner will manipulate your tab and water down the drinks . Other than that it s ok

Was a slow night, good food and cheap beer. Owner seemed like a nice hardworking guy. Place could use a bit more light and cleaning. Cool old building with many pictures of its past on the walls.

The BBQ burger fries and unsweet tea were great. Our waitress was quick with tea refills and anticipated our needs. We were visiting the college and will return to try more menu items.

My favorite place in Kutztown. Usually less crowded than most other bars. I can just sit in a booth and enjoy my company.
