I have been in the restaurant industry for the past ten years, starting from dish washer all the way to management. We often go out to eat, and being in the same industry, I am pretty sympathetic to sub-par food and service. This place was just terrible in every aspect. After waiting a good 5-10 minutes for the hostess to finish up chit chatting to the other staff, she finally sat us. The waitress would not get the beer i ordered due to the fact that it was located at the outside bar. Rambled off specials, and when I went to order the "soup of the day" the waitress replied, we dont have that. This is just usually a simple miss communication from the kitchen to waitstaff, so this wasnt really a issue. After ordering appetizers the waitress failed to give us plates and napkins, and looked at us as if we had two heads when we requested them. Then our entrees were just plain terrible. I have never written a bad review on any restaurant, but I would not recommend this place to anyone...and I would recommend to Molly McGuire management to maybe take a look at the quality staff they hire.

Do not go here!! I took a couple of coworkers and their husbands to this resturant on a saturday night. We checked in with the hostess, we waited by the bar for and hour, once we realized people were being seated after us. I approached the hostess who apparentlt had our name scratched off and stated that she had forgotten we were there. After making her aware of us standing for an hour, westill waited 1/2 an hour to be seated. The waitress was rude and never came to check on us. We tipped her what we thought was fair even with the lack of srvice or apology for the long wait. As we were leaving the hostess who apparently is the owners wife stated in front of everyone that we did not leave enough of a tip. I explained why we didnot tip more the other waitress caught an attitude and stated that we always tip bad. We had never been there before!! To leave me waiting so long, the rudeness and the lack of respect for your customers is terrible, spare yourself the drama and dont go besides the food was bland as well.

I have been eating in this place for the last fifteen years, last time was ten days ago. I owned taverns, restaurants, bakery, jewelry stores, dry cleaners etc etc. I understand food cost, price and portion control. Work on a 35 percent profit over food cost.Todays menu is overpriced, it is better to go back to the larger portions and lower prices. Do your business in quantity and quality. Take care of the customers that have been going there for fifty years they will support your business. A tourist trade will come once and never again. The staff are excellent especially the Maitre de and bar manager they were friendly and helpful quick good service. Only a couple patrons eating on a Sunday evening December 1 2013. Maybe the owner will read this and change a little. I know he doesnt need any advice he is very successful in whatever he does. Always good to know how your patrons feel about your happiness.

Not the best dining experience. We had a big party on a Saturday night and expected to wait a while. We were split into one larger and one smaller table which was perfectly fine on a busy night since there was no way wed all be able to sit together and we figured this would make the service quicker. It took my table an hour and half for food to arrive from the time we ordered. Zero updates from the staff during that time, and our smaller party paid for their check before we had a bite. So, service was a mixed bag. Bad because no updates on the food was unacceptable, but staff was friendly and we didnt suffer for drinks. Once the food came it was quite average and disappointing, though at that point I was too hungry to care. Overall, we were not impressed and I doubt Ill be coming back outside of a casual drinking visit if I find myself in Jim Thorpe again.

Food was delicious, and the outside deck was very nice. The draft beers came in plastic cups, which was a little off putting. Other than that, the service was terrible. After taking our order (drinks and food at the same time) we never saw our waiter again until 20 some minutes after we were sitting with our credit card out on the table. Nobody checked on us during our meal, even when our drink glasses were empty and at the edge of the table. I was ready to walk up to the manager/hostess for help, but she was too busy stuffing her face with food right at the hostess stand. I worked in the restaurant industry for over a decade and fully understand the ins and outs of a busy day... so there was no reason with 4+ servers, a bus boy, and a manager that we were so neglected. Tisk tisk... sorry, but we wont be coming back.

Anyone who rates this place well has never actually been there or must work there. This is without a doubt the worst place Ive been to in a long time. I should have read the reviews before we went in. Just in case the other reviews didnt drill it in, the wait staff is HORRIBLY RUDE...I cant stress enough how bad they were. Im from New York, were used to people being impatient and rude but never to this extent. People only go here because it seems to be the only game in town and the tourists dont know any better until its too late. Please save yourself the headache and skip this place. There are some very nice places down the street and we were kicking ourselves for spending our time in such a hell hole. It really sucks to be in town for one day and to have this be our whole dining experience.

Stopped for a bite to eat while visiting town. Decided to eat on the deck. While it was full the wait was short (less than 5 mins). My meal, which was a chicken Caesar salad was more than adequate and tasty. The rest of the family enjoyed their meals too. Really my only complaint, which petty is legit. Serving me a Guinness from a can to pour into a plastic pint. While I understand the logic I do not like it. I would have chose water over a warm plastic pint glass. But everything else aside food, service, value all decent. Decent enough every time we visit Jim Thorpe and we will be back again next time..!

The wait staff was not attentive and at times down-right rude. When there was a problem with the bill, no one in our group was yelling, yet a waitress was yelling at us. She should have had more patience and followed social convention of not yelling at your customers. Food and service are inevitably linked at a restaurant, and frankly, we were not impressed by either. We ordered the famous 24-ounce steak and it was not worth the special trip we made to taste the famous entree. The smoked turkey salad was alright, but it was not worth putting up with the staff. The people of the town were pretty rude too.

Whether youre hungry, just peckish, or simply want to grab some drinks with friends, Mollys it is. This is always a go-to place. Fair warning: It can get very crowded, making it difficult to move and gets rather loud during those times. Theres a nondescript, almost forgotten dining room in the back that could be put to much better use by opening up that wall to enlarge the pub. It would make a huge difference, especially when they have live music. Overflow from the pub into the dining room as it is now doesnt work because the wall makes you feel like youre isolated from the vibe in the pub.
