I waxed long and slightly crazy about this place on Yelp, so if youd like to read the full gospel, feel free to go there and read and wonder if I should be committed somewhere. Truth: This place is fantastic. Amazing price for a HUGE amount of food, and they have a customer loyalty program through which you can get free food, discounts, and all kinds of things. The service is attentive and the people there take real pride in the food. Its just a homey, vibrant atmosphere. It almost feels like youve gone over someones house for dinner. The proprietor of the place also works there and she will ask you minimum three times if everything is to your liking. In case you didnt know, she was basically the queen of soul food in Manhattan in the 90s. I said it on Yelp and Ill say it again: this place should have a line out the door every night. Everything is AWESOME. My favorite so far has been the oxtails; ask the staff if they remember the crazy girl talking about catching the spirit from the oxtails. It happened! They were so good! Blessings on this place. If it ever closes, Im going to be heartbroken. Id eat there every day but I think theyd call the cops on me and eventually Id be too big to drive. I just get really excited about really good food, haha!

My wife and I have been here at least a dozen times since they opened, and I have to say that its one of my favorite local places to eat. I usually order the smothered pork chops over rice, and she often orders the fried chicken with red velvet waffles, and its never been anything less than amazing. Weve ordered other items as well, and taken visiting friends and family to eat there. No matter what anyone orders, they always deliver high-quality food at reasonable prices. Their sides are wonderful, from their fried plantains and collard greens to more traditional items like potato salad. Before the meal, they always bring out a dish of hush puppies that are simply mouthwatering and are quickly consumed. I have no complaints to offer. They do a pretty good take-out business, and strangely the restaurant is often not very crowded as many people dont seem to dine in. I would call this our hidden gem in Thorndale. We have some places in our area that are more popular with lines running out the door, but Filet of Soul delivers a menu unlike any other around it, and it does it with cooking that is second to none.

We highly recommend this place. Went there for Saturday Night Live Music. The band, RhythmSent out of Philly was awesome. Now for the food, huge portions of delicious Caribbean Soul Food. We had the Oxtails, Cabbage, rice and beans and Plantains, so, so good. Others had the Red Velvet Waffles and Fried Chicken, greens, rice and beans and if course the Plantains. All the servings will have you asking for a Doggy bag. Also dont forget to ask for the Hush Puppies (they come sprinkled w/powered sugar), Jerk Chicken Wings and the Salmon Cakes (OMG!), you could make a meal just from those appetizers. We have been back just for lunch and plan on returning again soon.

This might be my new go-to spot. Desperately looking for soul food in this area I stumbled upon this place in a shopping center. I ordered the jerk chicken platter and fried chicken w/greens and Mac n cheese. The food was absolutely delicious and the order was hot and ready when I picked it up. My only recommendation for long term success is a delivery option, more availability during the week, and a better location/food truck closer to West Chester. Better advertising/online presence could go a long way. I am a strong supporter of locally owned businesses and Im glad to be supporting this eatery.

My husband and I have been coming here every week for the last six months. We have had just about everything on the menu and it has all been very tasty. The 2 for $22 Thursday menu is the best value for the best food in this area. I am very thankful to a coworker who recommended this place after I asked her about a place that has great fried chicken and then some! Thanks to my friend Sam and to everybody at Filet of Soul! Great food, great service, great atmosphere, and great prices! Who could ask for more?

I always went here not only for the amazing food but the owner is a pastor. We always spend more than $100. But as of lately the customer service has slipped. They guy Tracey takes zero pride in this restaurant. Ordered a hour ahead and gave them 20 mins extra, arrived and was told, "I forgot to drop the wings, sorry." Consistency is key in the restaurant biz. May give them a chance again in the future but as of now Ill go to the city for soul food. Very disappointed.

The Family Choir from Delaware went to this restaurant after doing a concert in Coatsville. It was almost closings time and about 21of us, but they served us graciously. The food was finger licking and um um good. I enjoyed the gospel jazz instrumental music playing while dinning sufficiently. The owners and their staff accommodated us with excellence. Looking forward to returning again soon. May God continue to prosper your ministry.

I have been to Filet of Soul once before and the food was delicious! However, I arrived there about 7p on Friday 3/10. After waiting for my food for an hour and 20 min my husband and I walked out. During that time the manager/owner never came out to apologize! Didnt say word!! The waitress was very nice but kept making excuses. I will not return to this restaurant nor will I recommend it!!

The food was the best I had tasted in the area. It was also served very quickly. I was very surprised as most soul food places have a reputation for slow service. The worker accommodated us as we had a baby by turning the heat up and offering a high chair. The ambiance was nice and it was very clean.

Went here for the first time tonight based solely off the reviews. They werent lying! My father is sick and doesnt eat very much anymore, but he ate nearly everything he got. The restaurant is clean, the staff are polite and the food is amazing! We will definitely be back!
