Wow! Is it me? I tried to report this directly to the manager, but he had other things to do, so he/she can read it here on Google, along with you all. You judge: First, lets get things out of the way. The chili was interesting and the cakes were perfect--my daughter even wanted to replace ice cream cake with Woodstocks poppy cake during an upcoming event. We wont be using Woodstock Wine & Deli for any event, though.. Now, back to business. Heres how we were treated yesterday. 3 of us walk in. The place is dead. We are the only customers. We see 3 individuals working. We place our orders (2 slices of cake, 1 beer, 1 chili). At this point, I read the coffee menu and ask the young man what a "breve" is. He pretended not to understand me 3x and ultimately corrected my pronunciation of this borrowed foreign word. I did not have a chance to order this drink, though, because we went into a long-winded solo about the drink, that it is a delicious espresso drink made with half and half and, were one trying to lose weight, one should not order this beverage. He wanted to make sure we got the message because he repeated his opinion twice or 3x and then walked off before I could order. After he left, a woman replaced him at the register, and I do not believe she heard any of this. We ate in. No one walked into the place the entire time we were there. When we finished, I walked up to the counter and asked to speak with a manager. The young man and the older man were there. The older man stated that I could speak to him. Translation? My manager isnt hear or does not want to hear you out? At any rate, before I began, the man who said I could speak to him changed his mind, said he has a few things to do in the kitchen, and would it be all right if he came back in a moment. This left me alone with the young man. I asked him whether he had additional weight loss tips for me. Without missing a beat, he smiled and said he does not. I would think that a well-meaning individual would be mortified at having been asked such a question, but he was moving about nervously behind the counter. Eventually he muttered an "Im sorry" to which I replied that a sincere apology is usually not delivered with ones back facing the recipient, as he was doing. Hey, by this time, youre probably thinking Im a big girl, right? If youre thinking hes discriminating against overweight people, know that I am 56" and weigh 140 lbs. I cannot explain his motivation, but I do know that I am sharing this story with as many people as I can so as to actively discourage you from experiencing the ugliness we experienced yesterday at Woodstock Wine & Deli.

Met some friends after work before we headed off for an event. Its easy to find and has parking. I was surprised by the size. Huge space with soaring ceilings, food and beverage counters and cases around the sides and in back and a center quad counter (which was being used for wine tasting) and some tables up front by the large windows. Amazing selection of wines! Wish Id had time to stay for the tasting! They discount the ones everyone likes best! Is there a better way to try new ones and get what you like for less? The draft beer selection is limited but theres a case of local talent and imported bottles...mostly IPAs (not my fave but there were dozens to choose from). Theres also a good selection of coffees, tea, soda and juices and some fine looking baked goods. Atmosphere was casual and spread out, good for groups and pairs to sit and converse. You order at the different counters, then pay and sit down or wait for Togo. I had a sandwich that was well made to my specs by a very pleasant woman with very fresh ingredients and brought to our table. Im looking forward to returning for a tasting.

Great Deli with professional staff who are friendly and helpful. Sandwiches and salads are very nice quality and the wines are oh, so plentiful and mocrobrews are also available. Happy hour starts at five. Heather rocks!!! This building used to be an old Rexall Drug store when I moved into the neighborhood in 1974. I like to go there to relax about 3pm or so......nice music and very quiet. DO NOT forget the outstanding selection of gourmet cakes!!!!!

If you love clam chowder, you have to visit on Friday for the creamy, warm, chunky goodness Tak and his crew serve up! Or some meaty, zippy warm your soul chili! The sandwiches are great, quiche is yummy, theres a huge selection of beverages, including esspresso, beer and obviously wine. Love this place for lunch!
