Ive loved this place for years- the croissants are amazing, the service is usually great, and overall this was my favorite location- until today. Today there was a hair in my French toast. Fortunately I saw it before taking a bite and was spared that experience. Since we had already waited 40 min. for a table and needed to get to an appointment there wasnt time to wait for them to fix it (not sure I couldve stomached it either) so I passed on a replacement. I watched everyone eat while I finished my tea then paid for everyone else (friends birthday). I was shocked to see they didnt comp a single thing- not even my tea- not even a croissant- that added to the fact I never received an apology. I had an order messed up slightly at a pizza joint earlier this week, we were still able to eat it, but they comped the whole thing, and I was apologized to by a very responsive manager. Apparently the more you pay- the less they accept mistakes or try to make it right? There was a HAIR in my food and no apology even, no follow up by anyone. I guess I should be grateful I didnt discover it in my mouth and that they took it away (after my sister verified what I had already said to the waiter and pointed out the dark curled hair sticking out of the batter on the toast)? Look your food over carefully- no one wants to experience that. If it happens to you be sure to take a picture of it before they take it away; that may encourage them to be more responsive.

Crowded, long lines, great food. However, last 2 times, the service was terrible (breakfast, didnt get croissant til end of meal, not beginning, no drink for one kid til end of meal while other got it before meal) second time, server said no lunch menu at breakfast, but thats not true. Because weve done it. Twice. To argue something like this when ordering is a real downer. Been here more than 20 times. Jefe has a good breakfast too when the lines are too long. But did I mention food is great? 3/2017 update- ALLERGY WARNING~~ bread basket has nuts in it. son ate walnut bread (we didnt know it had nuts in it). son got really sick. Servers didnt seem to care. When I asked if bread had nuts, they said, yeah, its all mixed and nothings separated. Wow. Despite the fact that we ate here more than 30 times in past 3 years, guess were not coming back. I was shocked at 2 servers lack of caring and the fact that we never knew bread had nuts until randomly now. we buy the pastries all the time and hes never had a reaction. Didnt know everything is potentially contaminated with nuts. Disappointing and lack of care is the worst part as evidenced by staff today.

I went for the 1st time with friends. The place was adorable. It was very slow since it was late and the service was snail speed. We had to ask for silverware and the bread basket took 10 minutes to get there. It wasnt warm so its not it was just cooked. That would have received a 3 star but the food was great. My Mediterranean carrot salad was insane. Everyone had to try it, its refreshing and 300% better than I expected. The muscles were cooked perfect, and the onion soup made moans escape peoples mouth. My friends wonderfully cooked scallops that were quite tasty once you removed this weird seed sauce. The cordon blue was light and crisp. My steak with mushrooms was good once you removed this unappealing brown sauce. The asparagus was cooked to perfection, the garlic mashed potatoes were boring and tastless. The deserts were perfect. Id go back for desert, the meal I can get better and cheaper elsewhere. Other than a couple of things the dishes were plain and quite bland. The rice, mashed potatoes, and pilaf had no taste. The asparagus was cooked to perfection but no taste.

We lived in the area close by when this place was first being built and opened and the owner personally remembered us for a while by name. Its a really cool and authentic french restaurant and the owner himself is french. I love the breakfasts there, but dinner is also really nice. Its a tapas style so you order 1 item at a time to build your dinner. The poached eggs in wine sauce for breakfast are to die for. They also have tons of pastries and breads and anything else you could want to grab to take home or come just to get them. Be warned though, this place is very popular and busy all the time and parking while being decent is almost always full. You will have to fight to get here unless you come early for breakfast or dinner. Its totally worth it though and youll be happy you did it. They have more than 1 location now, but they tend to be in the more upscale neighborhoods like lake oswego. So they can be a little hard to find if you live in far flung area like hillsboro or oregon city however I would almost say its worth the drive to come here once in a while.

Ordered the baked eggs dish, no mushrooms. Waitress paused slightly before confirming the no mushrooms part, which made me wonder. Sure enough, the dish came with about 50% of its volume being mushrooms—must’ve been mixed up in advance? Either way, failed to convey that sans mushrooms wasn’t possible. I ordered coffee, too (a shot in the dark), and, admittedly I’m a coffee snob, but this didn’t even taste like coffee. It was nutty, thin, and had nearly no standing crema. Fair—they’re not a coffee shop. I did notice that, having added a shot (which just adds cost on top of what you’d pay for drip coffee), I received my drink in a different style of cup. That meant no refills. No surprise here, and in retrospect I’m not sure I’d want a refill anyway. Still—missing a chance to go above and beyond. The last bit that got me: the dreaded hair. Yep. There was a hair in my baked eggs. Not cool. I’m pretty lenient, and am not easily grossed out, so I still got a meal out of it, but it was certainly far from an enjoyable experience. Sorry guys. No joy here.

Excellent! The food, service and atmosphere were VERY GOOD! We were able to walk into the busy restaurant without reservations on a Friday at 6pm and get seated right away. (It was only two of us.) Even though the restaurant was very busy, our service was prompt and very good. We ordered about six small plates, including seafood, two beers and a dessert, and our bill was only about $55.00 (before tip)! The restaurant was clean and our food came soon after ordering. It was fresh, presented nicely and cooked perfectly. In addition, the manager stopped in to make sure that our food and over all experience was pleasing and it absolutely was! We were there for a date but the restaurant also had kids, so I would feel comfortable bringing our son. We highly recommend this restaurant!

My wife and I visited La Provence for dessert and coffee. The atmosphere was excellent: great dinner lighting, quality furniture, quality dinnerware and linens, not loud, and a very attractive interior design and decor. It felt comfortable and inviting. Passing the dessert case on the way in, I knew we were in for a treat. I ordered a double espresso to be able to truly judge their coffee - it was excellent. My wife also really enjoyed her latte. The deserts were elegant and delicious showing that they care deeply for the craft and presentation. The size of each dessert is perfect... not huge yet plenty to satisfy. This has become our new favorite spot for meeting people for coffee and/or dessert. We are really looking forward to trying out breakfast here as well.
