I first discovered this place when working in Eugene in the 90s. It was the *ONLY* place in Oregon to get real smoked ribs that tasted like the chef cared about what he was serving. I have driven from Portland to get ribs there and drive right back to enjoy them at home. Since then I have moved closer and can truthfully say, I have never had a bad meal. The service is always terrific, First Class and the Food is still better than anything in Portland or the rest of Oregon. I always try to get clients and friends to join me there whenever possible and I have never been disappointed in their reaction to the food and service. "Hole in the Wall BBQ" is as close to REAL Southern BBQ as you can get without going to Texas or Tennessee. There is good BBQ in Oregon and even a *Great* place (Carolina Kitchen- North Carolina style) in Sparks, Nevada, but "Hole in the Wall" is like eating my dads bbq or better yet, eating my own, but without all the fuss. Im so hungry for good ribs, Im going there now.

This is the 2nd time Ive eaten at The Hole in the Wall in Springfield.. Lets start with the atmosphere it was ok, if you ate in the dining room. However, the lounge was like eating in the kitchen. The service was service nothing to brag about. Now the food. The salad, brown romaine lettuce with some kind of old dried shredded carrots (white and orange) never enough dressing. The roll was one of the brown and serve type thing (yuck) not real butter....corn bread muffins looks as if they came out of a freezer. The beans were dry and cold all the food was cold....The meat was dry you couldnt put enough BBQ sauce on it it was still dry. Must of been sitting in the fridge for days. I would not recommend this restaurant to any one. Maybe the one in Eugene is better. For the price they get a thumbs down.

I was very impressed with the excellent service. I dine out almost everyday and have not experienced such great service. The waitstaff was very attentive. It seemed like we had three servers. The food was amazing and reasonably priced. I ordered a smaller portions of ribs with one side and it was plenty. ($8.00 ish ) The only dissapointment is we were immediately offered a strawberry lemonade ( for my small child) after the bill came it was priced as an adult drink. I learned they do not offer kids size strawberry lemonade. I was only shortly dissapointed until another server brought us a to go cup for her to enjoy tomarro. I will recommend to my friends and go there more often. Next time we will try the west 11th location as it is closer.

We visited Hole in the Wall BBQ last night for dinner and had a great time. We were greeted quickly and received cornbread and yeast rolls with our drinks - if your from the South, order the sweet tea! The dinner platters are very generous with BBQ fare and sides. The pulled pork and sausages are smoked just right. When served, we were given 5 different types of BBQ sauces (varying from mild to hot). In talking with our server (also the co-owner), I shared my opinion about mustard and vinegar based Sauces and she brought out additional homemade sauces for us to try. Everyone was very friendly and we will be back on future visits to try other BBQ platters and dishes. We enjoyed our dinner a mod visit very much!

It was horrible..the food pictured was not the food we got. The "homemade" mac and cheese was worse then the 1.00 kraft boxed stuff. Our waitress was non existant. Even after we asked for our waitress to appear, she still didnt bother to check on us or offer desert...we had to wait 20 min just to get our check so we could leave. We will never go back, the waitress did not get a tip because she did little more then take our order and deliver it. The food was not good. We were celebrating a Birthday, and I had to say sorry to the Birthday boy for picking out such an horrible place. I would say to anyone thnking of eating here...dont waste your money..

Ive been to 3 different events where they serve this food. At each place you hear people talk and wonder why they served this cold tasteless food. The last one was so bland. Not even salt was added. . Runny beans. The leaves and branches from any tree nearby would have tasted better. The chicken was so undercooked. A skilled vet could have brought it back to life. I was to hungry to fetch Taco Bell. "MY MISTAKE" Thankfully i was home by most of the next day close to a bathroom. NEVER AGAIN - If i do please have me committed.

Dont get me wrong, there was nothing wrong with the food here. Its simply that for the meager servings of ok but cool to the touch food that we received Ive had much better Q in other places. The product was tasty, but the fact that the meat arrived not adequately heated really spoiled the experience. We found nothing out of the ordinary for a barbecue restaurant, the service wasnt particularly attentive or friendly -- even thought the restaurant wasnt particularly busy-- hence it gets an average rating.

I really like the Hole in the Wall on W. 11th. Great service, good food. A little cramped for space, but not a big deal. The Springfield location has a better layout and seems more up-to-date, but the food and service at the Springfield location hasnt been all that great when Ive gone there, even though its basically the same menu. Stick to the one on W. 11th.

PRICE GOUGED TO THE MAX.............We went there for Lunch 11/07/15 for Lunch . Both had the prime rib French dip with side special.. was charged $13.50 each for a Hoagie bun with leftover Friday night Prime rib on it and a small portion cup of mac-n-cheese... Just ridiculous ..... Food was good but way over priced.. wont return ever !

Smokin good ribs (pun intended). A little cramped, but once the food gets there, its no longer an issue. Ribs were fall-off-the-bone tender, but not fall apart. Slaw was tangy, not sweet ( nice surprise for me). It WILL be a stop on any trip up or down I-5.

I Love Hole in the Wall BBQ. My Grandma always orders the sweet potato fries. I get the pulled pork. They have the best sweet and spicy BBQ sauce I have ever had. I have always had great service and the food is always delicious!!

good BBQ Only complaint was that i had sauce spilled on me and the management did nothing to compensate me for the mess they made of my clothes. a cold beer on the house would have done it.

The family style bbq servings were huge and all you can eat. The honey bourbon sauce was really good. The special ranch was really good on the salad.

Use to visit this place two or three times per week when i was working. The BBQ pork is great, but sometimes, the service can be a little slow.
