Ill go with my friends description of aggressively mediocre. Ive always heard of this place as a sort of upper scale place. Disappointed. The Manhattan was watered down. Ive had sashimi with more flavor than their seared ahi. The cobb salad had all ICEBERG LETTUCE. Who does that anymore? Sharis? They even serve 14 Hands wine for Gods sake. So does the local bowling alley. This is probably my first bad restaurant review. I was that disappointed. #NeverAgain Edit- Ive learned that a good Cobb should have iceberg lettuce. And I couldnt have the blue cheese dressing (dairy allergy). Doesnt change that it was still an overall disappointing salad. Also - please get better honey mustard dressing. I dont know if youve tried yours, but it tasted more like miracle whip.

I had the Grilled Chicken Sandwich and it was quite delicious and used very simple natural ingredients which I love. However, I was in a party of 13 and their kitchen was not large so they took just over an hour to make our orders with no appetizers other than the bread they provide (which was incredible BTW). I would very likely come again with a much smaller group (probably no more than four), but not the best place for a large party if youre in a hurry. There was only one other party of two the entire time we were there as well, so its not like they were busy, except with us I guess, lol.

If your not a member of this facility I would not recommend eating at this restaurant. My wife and I ate here one evening because we heard they had good happy hour. After our waiter asked us if we were members, he completely ignored us until he brought us our check. The food was overpriced for what we received, and our drinks were terrible. My wifes margarita tasted like the fruit puree was about a month old. She ended up with a stomach ache, and I ended up wasting a good amount of money on food and drinks that we barely touched.

Great wine & craft beer selections here. The daily specials are almost always the best thing coming out of the kitchen. The cooks get creative & never cease to impress my tastebuds. The pizza & burgers are fresh & prepared perfectly every time too. I also really like the wait staff, who are fun & friendly. This is absolutely my favorite downtown restaurant.

This is a reasonably good bar and restaurant. Nothing special, nothing objectionable. Its great for a quiet meal - sometimes. But beware nights for away games for the UofO football, as it seems to be a gathering place for the faithful - so a mob scene.

I eat at the Ax Billy Grill almost once a month. I have never been disappointed. The food is fresh and well-prepared, they have a good wine and beer selection, and the staff has always been nice and accommodating.
