I Love this restaurant. I have been eating at Nirvana for years, both lunch buffet and off the dinner menu. The two are different and I find that I have to add the right amount of hot sauce to amplify the flavors that are present in the buffet offerings. This is not the case with the ala carte options off the menu, but understandable because of the varied palates of the customers. I find the flavors succulent, savory and diverse and always want to eat more, but am sorely limited by my own capacity. The Chicken Tikka, yellow Daal and Sag Palak are definite favorites for myself and my family. Initially, as a novice to Indian cuisine, it took a while to gain an appreciation. However, now I cant wait to eat there. My daughters have found the same intrigue and choose Nirvana for birthday dinners; perhaps unusual for younger patrons. The family atmosphere is pleasant and we have found the service always to be courteous and gracious. The brief hiatus has given us a chance to try other Indian restaurants in Portland as well as locally. Nirvana is still our favorite and we anxiously await the opening of the new restaurant.

Worst Indian food Ive ever had, Im sorry - I honestly dont understand the other positive reviews and it makes me wonder if theyve ever had Indian food anywhere else (which is confusing, since Evergreen in town is one of the best Ive had - and Ive lived in major west and east coast cities for most of my life and have eaten at a lot of Indian places, most just OK.). Buffet a few weeks back was watery, tasteless, incredibly bland, chicken tikka just tasted like salt + food coloring, chai was off and tasted like dishwater (bfs Pepsi was worse! How do you screw that up? And no refills on the awful Pepsi). The buffet was popular and the room was half full at least - no Indians or people under fifty in sight, except for us. Bafflingly bad. Im sorry, Nirvana, I tried to like you. The worst frozen Indian food Ive had was much better.

Based on how varied the reviews are, I have to assume that Nirvana is inconsistent at best. Indian food is one of my favorite types of food, so when I moved here and found out there were two Indian restaurants in town, I was thrilled. Evergreen lived up to my expectations. Nirvana did not. Everything was over-salted. The chutneys werent actually chutneys, but were super thin colored, salty sauces. The textures of the foods we ordered were off, too. I have friends who love this place, but I havent been able to bring myself to go back. If you like good Indian food, Nirvanas not worth the risk. Go to Evergreen, instead.

Please note that this review is only considering the lunch and dinner buffet. I will re-evaluate after ordering from their normal menu. My wife and I had previously tried the dinner buffet at there previous locarion, which unfortunately left much to be desired. After the move, however, everything seems to be much better. Both lunch and dinner buffets offer great selections and it is a wonderful value; ten or so bucks and it comes with a single serving soft drink! The service is also excellent. Overall, great food with great service at a great price!

I ate there for the first time since the move from Ninth Street. I think the world of the owners and staff, but I found the Nirvana Special (Chefs Special) to be extremely disappointing. I will try their afternoon buffet in the future (one of my favorites), but I dont plan to eat there again in the evening. The lamb was surprisingly tough. The Tandori chicken was sizzling and dramatic, but the taste was barely tandorish. The most flavorful food I had there tonight was the anise seed mixture just as you leave the restaurant. Sorry.

I hate this place.I read the reviews about this place,I went there yesterday for dinner.I was totally got upset.I am a big fan of Evergreen.I saw there was a review says this is the only place that you can see indian people eating.Sounds like the owners of this place wrote their own review.Or do they mean this is only for Indian people not for others or what?Nirvana is in business for 1 year only. But the Indian people in Corvallis eating at EVERGREEN SINCE 11 YEARS.In service wise and Buffet wise Evergreen is the BEST forever.

Our family--6 adults, 1 child all ate here not too long ago--we each ordered different items on the menu, but in the end, it all tasted pretty much the same--not much distinctive flavor at all. We havent been back--We would recommend Evergreens buffet luncheon --its usually very good with a fair number of choices--served between 11:30 AM to 2 PM. Best to get there around 1pm or before as sometimes they run short on certain dishes--although they are replaced in a reasonable amount of time

Best restaurant, hands down. The food is fantastic, the waiters are excellent and extremely polite, the restaurant is always clean and complimented with calm music, and you never feel like anyones trying to rush you out. My friend and I go all the time because we are vegetarian and they have a LOT of options for us. The lunch buffet is INCREDIBLE - I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone and everyone!!!!

What a nice bonus for the Corvallis restaurant scene. Was glad when this wonderful restaurant opened, because I have been disappointed with various other Indian restaurants in the valley. The food is delicious, and the prices are reasonable. The daily buffet has consistently good choices. The service is tops. I have become a regular, and one can always find Indian people eating there. That tells you something.

Dont listen to "Pseudolocus X" hes obviously an idiot. Worst than frozen food? Dont be so disrespectful to others makes you look bad. The food here is flavorful, fresh, and delicious. Inexpensive good indian food with very friendly service and hospitality. Im not Indian and Ive never been to India so maybe theres better out there but I have friends who have been there and they its as good. Give it a try at least.

Hated it! Oh yes you got that right! Worst Indian food ever. I am not sure where to start.Every dish that was served was very bad half cooked and tasted so bad! Shrimp vindaloo was the special of the day as advertised by them. But let me tell you it was the worst dish I have ever had till now.Prawns were raw and stale.Informed the owner and he was not even apologetic.Dont ever have food here!

So, we travel an hour to reach this place after confirming availability till 9PM. We reach this place, two families, parents and two babies, very hungry at 8.30 PM, only to find it closed. Upon calling, we are told that they had to go to the airport. We leave Hope there was no tragic emergency on their side. But if this was a result of being unprofessional, we have no more words

The best thing about Nirvana is the food....No wait it is the friendly, prompt and attentive service....yea, but even better is the ambiance - the rockin Indian music! I especially like the ice cold glasses they provide with a 22 oz. Taj Mahal. Ive been to many restaurants over the years in Corvallis, but Nirvana has been my favorite. The friendly, high quality service is tops!

It has been a while since I had ate at Nirvana since we moved out of Corvallis, but I remembered it being good. I went hiking with friends yesterday and recommended eating at Nirvanas afterwards. I was not disappointed! All the food was great and the service was great. I didnt have to ask for a refill on water like a lot of places. Very attentive and the food came promptly.
