I came on a Friday to play open mic night here for the first time. Called at 9 am and spoke to a guy who told me to call back at 5:15 and ask to talk to Ralph to get put on the list. (Im driving from 40 minutes away and really didnt want to have spent my entire day, from 4:30 to 10pm, waiting for the chance to maybe play for 15 minutes.) I call at 5:15 and am told that Ralph is busy and will call me back. Ralph never calls, but obviously got my message because he calls me by my name when I arrive. I show up at 6 and am told that I cant get on the list unless Ive already played here a couple of times... what? So its not an open mic at all. Just another example of a guy who would probably talk all day about his "passion for music" when hes really just interested in having the same regulars playing who bring in the same people regularly and pay for the same drinks. So really hes into making money, not fostering a welcoming music community.

I really love their Lattes and Cappuccino! They are just perfectly made! This place is not just another coffee shop that you go to for the coffee or tea. I go there for the ambience too. Its like having your favorite drink at home. You have the window view, the comfy armchair, the sofa for you and your friends or maybe a dining table for a bigger group. The owners- who are always busy making sure everything is perfect - make you feel like family even if its your first time there ever. They are friendly, cheerful and seem to enjoy serving you every single day! Cant wait for my next White Chocolate Latte at Java Central! :)

We tried this coffee house a few times and found the service inconsistent, but the coffee drinks very good. During the Westerville Music Festival in July, our counter server was stand-offish. It was afternoon and a woman and a teenager were sitting and reading a Bible study aloud as other patrons talked loudly around them. An employee told them the shop was closing and the woman and teen left, but the shop did not close. Employees behave oddly here sometimes and make me feel uncomfortable. A female server actually looked down her nose at me as if I was unwelcome. Gee, Im a doctor. What should I look like??

This place has a fun, cozy atmosphere. In addition to their tasty coffee creations they also offer a small assortment of fresh baked goods and lunchtime snacks and sandwiches. Local artists can display and sell artwork here, and they always have an array of events to suit just about anyone. My favorite thing to do here is grab an "Uptown Mocha" from the barista and head into the back to find a cushy chair - or the couch if its free - and settle back for a couple hours of reading. The only criticism I would offer is that I do wish they had a few more vegetarian options in their snacks.

Great service and very polite. The coffee isnt the greatest (iced) but not bad. The tea (earl grey and a green tea) was pretty nice. The place is a bit cramped with tables but the seats are some old furniture which is wonderfully comfortable. They have bands play there occasionally in the back which is a great separation if you have work to do in the front side. Decent food and baked goods. Id go back if I were in the part of town. Been there 3 times now. So definitely go if you in the area and need a place to sit and work.

I came here for the first time because I happened to be in the area and I sat facing this picture. As someone who loves marshmallows and doughnuts, I got to have the best of both worlds with a Smores mocha (havent seen that anywhere else) and a Pistachio doughnut with jelly center (cant remember the flavor now). I also loved the comfy chairs right by the windows. Would love to visit again and would recommend it to anyone in the Westerville area, its a good spot to hang until the library down the street opens.

Bizzie was VERY patient with my lack of knowledge in what I was ordering for someone. After the time and quality of making my daughters drink I came to realize I had ordered it incorrectly. Andy then was kind enough to allow Bizzie to remake my mistake. Bizzie calmly remade my drink with no negative attitude. Customer service like this is rare these days. It doesnt go unnoticed!! Thank you for making my daughters coffee just how she likes!!

Another great locally owned coffee shop. Last summer they added a nitro brew, which essentially tasted like a nonalcoholic Guinness. Whats great about this place is that the baristas dont have to wear uniforms much like the bigger chained places that start with an S have to. Everyone dresses individually and originally. When workers can do that they are more relaxed and have better customer service.

The new owner is a real ass. Java Central is an iconic place in Westerville that draws a lot of creative people and its beloved by the locals. Ralph, the new owner however does not value customer satisfaction and has taken away a lot great things that once made Java so great. He is the worst thing about the place, if it werent for him Id give this place a 5 star review!

Westerville residents can enjoy the best coffee shop in the area -- rich, full-bodied coffee for those who drink it straight or elaborate coffee drinks made by the skilled and friendly staff for those who like the extras. And then relax in one of the many distinctive rooms -- with the most comfortable chairs in Westerville. The Uptown Renaissance continues!

This place is so great! The staff is super friendly, and the owner is really nice. The drinks are phenomenal, each one made by hand right there in front of you. Friday and Saturday nights are awesome there, and the people that play are always really talented. I give java central 5/5 stars, and recommend that you give it a try and stop by!

This is an iconic place in uptown Westerville, Ohio. A nice, surprisingly large coffee shop, with enough comfortable seating, and enough friendly faces to make your visit worth while. The coffee is great, and served in a timely manner. There is music on tuesday, Friday, and Saturday nights. A lovely, local place to have coffee and hang out.

I love this place because its locally owned. The store front of deceiving- it is bigger than it looks. Its a great, quite place to get some work done. I prefer Java Central over Starbucks because its much quieter, it has much more comfortable furniture, and the baristas actually make the coffee instead of a machine doing all the work.

Coffee is ok, cannot compare to Staufs or Cup-o-Joe in Columbus area. Nice ambience, but overall not impressive. If you want rich and bold flavored coffee it needs to be a true coffee house. My medium roast was not that great, asked for dark roast last year and they did not have any, still none today. Parking is a pain.

They have great coffee and a nice place to sit to study. I came here a number of times to study for a professional exam I had coming up and needed a place with fewer distractions than at home. Their coffee is very good and they have some nice pastries, yogurt, and snacks as well. Ill be coming back here in the future.
