Pitiful... Worst experience Ive ever had at a "bar & grill", hands down. What limited drinks they offered were way overpriced - barely a full bar anyway. There was only one beer on tap. On top of that, the service was pathetic. Although I was one of only maybe five people at the bar, it took about ten minutes after I ordered for me to receive a glass literally filled halfway with foam. It was warm anyway. This was because the glass was warm. Like, just came out of a hot dishwasher warm... So although the beer was cold at the start, it got to room temperature fast. Not good at all. Im pretty sure every other bar in the world (maybe a few exceptions in North Korea and Ethiopa) chills their glasses. The bartender was beyond unhelpful. In fact, the fat, blonde, middle-aged woman with a face like a bullmastiff was rude to me and other customers at the bar. When I asked for whiskey she took a while of searching through bottles just to tell me that my first two options werent there. I then said jokingly, "No Jim Beam or Old Grand Dad? What whiskey do you even have then?" Instead of simply answering my question and suggesting a different drink, she took my playful comment personally and snapped back at me: "If you dont like our selection that you can leave!" I did. She definitely doesnt make many tips. It was hard to feel sorry for her. I do feel sorry for the other reviewers on this page who gave this place anything above three stars. They must not get out much. Im pretty new to this area but Id recommend just about every other restaurant or bar Ive been to in Tuscarawas County before dooming someone to the experience I had here. Id recommend microwaving some hotdogs and buying your own alcohol before I told anyone to come to Gavins. If you go here, you will wait an unreasonable amount of time for cold, soggy food (I know, it doesnt make sense). You will sit at a bar and wait five to ten minutes for an unpleasant woman to pour you a glass of beer that looks like a drunk chimpanzee filled it in two seconds. To put it simply: Foods cold. Beers warm. Selection and service sucks.

I travel all over Ohio for work, and all over the country for the military. While doing so, I typically look for "bar and grill" type establishments to eat and drink away my angst. I came across Gavins as a recommendation from my father-in-law. Normally, as it is located in a small town, my expectations were low. First off- I must comment on tbe town that Gavins is located in. Though small, it is noticeably clean, and well kept. Not a typical small town Ohio where you feel as if you must use an entire bottle of Germ-X after walking outside. As per Gavins itself: for 4 adults, and one super hungry child, the bill only came to be $60. This includes my import beer and martini (their grape martinis are bomb by the way). The food was well above average; I would almost rate it as excellent. A friend got a steak that was kick-ass, while I stuck with a classic bacon burger that exceeded my expectations. Portion size was great (Im a 64" male and eat my body weight in meat per day)- I left full and satisfied. Normally, at small eateries, fries are terrible. Gavins, on the other hang, uses legitimate fresh cut fries. The server was great, while being prompt and friendly. Overall, I would make a trip back just to eat here again, regardless of prior travel plans. Much better than the Dennys (and I love Dennys), Buffalo Wild Wings, and Texas Road House in the area. Just do yourself a favor and come here.

atmosphere was okay. Had two guys playing guitars that werent too bad but good thing we werent in a hurry! it took over an hour to get the "Friday night fish special" then our bill was about $12.50 less than what it should have been after he swiped our card. Not sure how that happened but couldnt walk out in good conscience so we had our waiter correct it. Dont get a frozen margarita either. Not much frozen about it and not much flavor....all in all....dont think Ill be back...

Cold food, friendly but inattentive wait staff (on a slow night). I had high hopes after a cocktail as the bartender was friendly and on top of her game. In my party of 5, 2 meals were "OK". I and a friend had the cod sandwich... Im still suffering (no kidding 24+ hours). A slight adjustment to the bill didnt improve the experience. Hope the place improves or itll be another empty storefront in this once vibrant downtown. I tried to give 0 stars!

I will NEVER go here again. The food was disgusting and took forever. We were two of maybe seven people in there. Waitress was clueless and was more interested in interacting with the patrons at the bar. We werent even given an explanation as to why our food took an hour! Save your money.

Great food, well worth the longer wait time than other places. The servers are very friendly and professional. Drinks are a little pricey and on a busy night it can take awhile to get one. All in all a very nice place.

$9.00 for a cheeseburger, cold fries, a waiter WE DID NOT SEE, but only to take our order. Very disappointed, dirty floors and no towels in bathroom,Once was an ok place to hang....wont be going back

Good choice for early day lunch, not many people work so service can take a bit and havent had luck on good beer from the taps. Stick to the bottles but food quality is spot for the price

Usually we love the place, but tonight a brought some friends for the first time and the food was horrible. The coffee was old. Very disappointed and this was their first time here.
