I dont know how this place has received so many good reviews, but my wife and I ate here today, as we have been talking for months about trying it out. Needless to say, it was absolutely AWFUL. The service wasnt bad, but aside from the place being too loud to enjoy (simply hearing EVERY conversation LOUDLY around you) the food was thoroughly disgusting. I got the philly with mashed potatoes and gravy, and the wife got the open face roast beef sandwich with the same side. When our plates came out, the portions were pretty much nicely sized amounts of animal lard with a little bit of salt and pepper. Literally. The "gravy" on the mashed potatoes (and the rest of the entirety of our plates) was basically left over grease from their pots and pans. Like the stuff grandma keeps after cooking bacon to use as oil. Yeah, just use that instead of gravy. No. Are you kidding me?! Absolutely atrocious. I can NOT believe that they seriously allow food like that to even leave the kitchen. We were so excited to try this place out, and will NEVER return again.

Went on a Sunday for lunch. It was somewhat busy, but there were MANY open tables. We were told to wait in the lobby area, which we did for about 20 min before being asked if wed like a drink. We declined because they didnt have anywhere for us to put them, other than to hold them for however much longer we were going to have to wait. Five minutes later we asked of we could sit at one of the open tables, we were told we could, but but the kitchen was backed up and couldnt order food quite yet. We agreed, and said we could at least order drinks, to which the hostess rolled her eyes and said "thats what I offered you before". We shrugged it off and figured at least we wouldnt have to deal with her anymore, but the waitress wasnt any better. We waited another 15 minutes before letting the bartender know we were leaving. 40 minutes in the restaurant, no waitress, no drink, no food, and a VERY snotty hostess. That was mine and my wifes experience here.

We didnt end up eating here, so I cant comment on the food. We called ahead and they told us there was a bit of a wait but that there would be a table for us. When we got there, however, they just ignored us. We were a pretty large party and they were pretty busy with having half the restaurant closed for no reason, but serving customers is kind of the purpose of a restaurant. I guess its our fault for assuming they could manage, you know, their jobs. Nobody seemed to be in charge and the best we could get was a curt "its gonna be a while" from the passing waiters, all of whom seemed extremely young - like, too young - like we walked into some sort of high school performance art piece about a bad restaurant. Maybe the place had been taken over by local youths or something. I wish them well, but they dont want your business.

We have been there before during the week for lunch with great service. We went today for lunch and it was not the same at all. It took 10 minutes for someone to even notice we were there. We both ordered a salad with chicken and steak. One of our salads came out with no chicken on it. This wouldnt have been a big deal and would could of had the chicken cooked really quick, however, the waitress didnt return for about 15 minutes AFTER she gave us our food to even tell her about it. At this point, we asked for it to be taken off the bill. We had to wait to have drinks refilled (about 10 minutes) and you could tell other people were getting annoyed waiting on their bills/drinks. It was really a shame because the food is VERY good. However, the service has alot to be desired.

Diamond in the rough! Had a great time there. I sampled the Seven, Erie Blu, Boxford Brown, and the Winter Bok. All good beers, however true to its label the Seven is a bitter, hoppy beer, which I enjoy. The real winner though is the Boxford Brown! It may be because I have not had many maple syrup style beers, but this was good and supplied locally. Nice aroma, color, and body added with a nutty note, gave it a nice clean finish. Has a full menu, 9 taps, and great service. Overall a great place. Loved their beer battered potatoe chips too! Hoping they make stouts and some porters too. None were ready on my visit. Will definitely come back.

First time ordering here .. Tried to call for take out and there was no answer. We wrote down our order from online menu and sister drove there and was told they didnt have 2 items we had selected .. We ordered 4 sandwiches that came with chips and pickle (she had to wait an hour ) . The black bean burger was burnt and missing chips & pickle ..The chips were overcooked and awful . My mother ordered steak wrap which was suppose to have mushrooms and cheese which were not in the wrap . We also ordered 3 fries and our bill totaled $50 ..This was a Mothers Day dinner we would rather forget !!

The atmosphere is great, the food was good, although there were some obvious cut corners that detracted from the experience. The chips were home made (yay!) but the vegetables were canned (boo!). The burger was good (yay!) but the patty looked out of a box (boo!). The coleslaw was hand mixed (yay!) but used pre-cut mix (boo!). The beer was great, and the waitress was friendly. For $13 - $20, everything should be fresh-made, nothing out of a box or mix. Could have been fantastic, but it was still good.

I came here for dinner with my mother who I havent seen for years. I ordered a salmon dinner entree. The waitress asked if I meant a salad entree of the same name, and I specified that no, I did not. After about 30 minutes, she came out with the salad entree, so I informed the server politely that it was not what I ordered. When they came back 15 minutes later with my food, it was burned, and the portion was small. My mother ordered fries separate from her meal, and they came here, cold.

I ordered the Chicken Apricot Salad. It came without the blue cheese crumbles. When I asked about it, they said that they ran out. They didnt tell me when I ordered that they were out and they didnt tell me when I got the food. They only offered a substitute cheese when I brought it up. It was like they were ignoring it and hoping I wouldnt notice. The substitute cheese was a tiny portion of pre-shredded mozzarella. It was a disappointing meal.

So far I have tried 1/2 of their beers and have liked them all. If you like Belgians, the Abbey-style ale is especially good. The food is likewise good, although a little spendy. My only real complaint is that it closes at 11pm on Fri & Sat. It would be a nice place to stop at for a late-night beer on my drive home between Cleveland and Ashtabula, but alas, I tend to not pass Madison until 11-12...

Ordered the Lake Perch dinner and the fish was soggy. Couldnt tell if it was watery because it was deep fried frozen or just greasy, either way ick! Tartar sauce was basically just mayo and cole slaw was very dry. Husbands Diablo Chicken was good tho and portion was nice. This was the second less than sub par visit. Not heading back anytime soon, prices arent worth the gamble.
